Great location with amazing views, on site parking a plus, breakfast very good. The hotel just needs modernisation and a lighter decor.

Aufenthalt für eine Nacht

This is my honest review for a Hotel that caters for dog owners, our room was clean, no smells apart from the bathroom that smelt fresh and clean. The lady on reception was polite and welcoming, the WiFi was good, there were plenty of tea & coffee etc, the kettle was limescale free which some other hotels fail to even check, the bedding and towels were crisp and clean, the beds in our twin room were very comfortable. Now as a couple with one dog we thought that we would have to eat our breakfast singularly, but our host said they could set up a table in the side room, so we could eat together with our dog being present, the breakfast assortment was wonderful, fruit, nuts, yogurts, juice, continental style and the main Welsh breakfast, piping hot and thoroughly enjoyed, sausage, two thick bacon, beans, mushrooms, whole hot tomato, fried egg & a nice and crispy quarter of fried bread, toast, tea, coffee and juice, the lady even asked if our dog would like a sausage, but knowing our pooch and her being a bit portly we asked if she could have some scrambled eggs instead, which she happily obliged, they couldn't have been any nicer and I would gladly stay there again as our lives revolve around our pooch and they were so accommodating and nice. The only negatives I can come up with is that some of the sideboards and tables in the rooms look a bit worn and tired, but are functional. Would I take my girlfriend or mistress there? Not if I wanted to impress the pants off her 😉.

Although the hotel is rather dated, we still enjoyed our stay at the Headlands. A good selection at breakfast, from a full cooked breakfast to cereal, fruit, yoghurt, and a good selection of nuts & seeds should you want a healthier option. The beds were nice and comfy, and we enjoyed the fact that our room had french windows, which led out onto a balcony & we had a lovely sea view. The staff were friendly and helpful and we enjoyed our evening meal at the Merrion, the Headlands sister hotel. There was a discount of 10% on the meal too. We could also take our dog!! The drinks weren't over expensive at the Merrion, and they had a singer on in the evening, which was good. Although it didn't bother us, it was quite a steep walk back up to the hotel from the town & Promenade should you wish to leave your car behind. There is a small carpark for the hotel, but you can park your car on the road free of charge if there is no space. The view from the Headlands was lovely, and you could have even better views as the cable car is a few minutes walk away from the hotel, which will take you to the top of the Great Orm.
