A lovely weekend away. The hotel was easy to find with plenty of parking. All members of staff were welcoming, informative and friendly. The room and on suite were perfect; a good size, clean and the beds were comfy. The food (breakfast and dinner) was delicious with a good selection of dishes, the small plates being perfect for children. My nieces' (who is 8) favorite part was the swimming pool which was a great size, nice changing rooms and towels provided. The perfect place to stay and enjoy Herefordshire and Brecon area.

Very outdated bar and restaurant area, we were in the new building which was a bit more modern. Spa wouldn’t really call it a spa either it’s more of a leisure centre with a hot tub unfortunately

We had a short (one night) stay but thought the hotel was great. We had free parking right outside our room which came with standard amenities and was spacious. Every member of staff was so friendly and helpful, just so accommodating. We were ready to book in for a family swim session but were so pleased it was free as we were guests, the pool area is lovely and has a lovely hot tub/ sauna. They provided all towels for the spa too so no need to bring your own from your room. We booked in the restaurant and had no issue booking in with a high chair for our 1yr old, we ordered a light bite for her and the chef was happy to make it smaller for her - they offered this without us requesting. Breakfast was great, help yourself to fruits/drinks/toast and then order a large plated breakfast from the menu - lots of choice and all really tasty. The only thing was that our room was absolutely boiling and we could only open a patio door to let some air in, which was fine until we wanted to sleep as it was a fairly climbable wall by the outside road and didn’t feel it was wise to leave it open all night while we slept. Perhaps there was a way to keep it ajar without it being opened from the outside and we didn’t realise. Overall though, the staff were just super friendly and provided the best customer service, it really makes such a difference when staff are genuinely helpful.

We found the Burton to be a well-run hotel with friendly and helpful staff. It exemplifies the best of the old-style hotels (i.e., before the rise of global chains) that I remember from 40+ years ago. Not that it is stuffy or hide-bound. The food is a blend of classic and more recent tastes. The spa is excellent with a nice pool for family groups and dedicated swimmers alike. (The steam room, though, could do with more steam.) The surrounding area was new to us but well worth exploring further, so we shall probably be back fairly soon...

Unfortunately the rooms onsuit had a very bad odour and the sink drained very slowly, as if it was partially blocked. Other than that staff was helpful and accommodating. We didnt have time to use spa and pool but it all looked very nice. Breakfast was very good.

I stayed in Room 14 which is a single room, it was spotlessly clean and the bed was really comfy. The staff at the hotel were fabulous and made the stay very enjoyable. The pool is nice and I can recommend using the spa and having a massage with Gemma. My shoulder had been stiff and locked up for some time and Gemma sorted it out for and I have my flexibility back. The food in the restaurant was delicious.

The property is old, but pretty well kept. The bar and dining were very good, and the attention of the staff was excellent. I do wish the wifi would have been stronger, as I couldn't use it from my room, and had to go downstairs to use it.

Lovely staff very friendly, excellent food and very reasonably priced. Only down side ev charger on council carpark not working so nowhere to charge our car, luckily it’s a hybrid so had to use the petrol engine. Bedroom very dated and bed very hard making sleeping little difficult.

The hotel highlights are the staff. All young but all so incredibly professional and helpful. The room we had was in a newer block and the room was good. It had a Separate patio area. Bed was comfortable. The shower floor did become very slippy when wet and a lot of water does escape from the shower onto the bathroom floor. We tried the restaurant and the food was good and reasonably priced. Breakfast is also included and again was good. We also used the leisure facilities and had a good swim in the pool. The bar was large and very reasonably priced. The town of Kington is a bit tired. Quite a lot of empty units but if your looking for a reasonably priced room and the location works for you I would say give this hotel and the incredible staff a go.

A very pleasant hotel with polite, friendly staff. The spa is of a good quality and was never too busy. Breakfast was good and arrived quickly. Our room was slightly cramped but there are better rooms available. The hotel is in a good position for walking locally.

We arrived for check in and it was a disappointment . We waited for 5 mins at the front desk when a local customer said no one’s been at the desk for ages you may want to ask the bar staff . So I went to the bar and the bar staff looked at me like I had 3 heads and said I don’t deal with that . So I asked who does and where are they . Again he just looked like I had 3 heads . So eventually after 20 minutes I googled the number for the hotel and phoned when the person who was on the front desk came out of the cellar . She couldn’t find our booking and had to check for it . She then showed us to our room which was very nice ( although the bath plug wouldn’t pull out to drain the water ) the food was very nice in the restaurant that night and at breakfast the next morning . The leisure facilities was also very nice with a pool and jacuzzi to relax in . It was very warm in the room but as it was one of the hottest days of the year that was the same everywhere . Upon check out we had another slight issue , a different front desk staff wanted to charge us for the room which we had pre paid . This was quickly resolved showing them the email receipt but again just let the whole check in check out part of it down massively.

We arrived for check in and it was a disappointment . We waited for 5 mins at the front desk when a local customer said no one’s been at the desk for ages you may want to ask the bar staff . So I went to the bar and the bar staff looked at me like I had 3 heads and said I don’t deal with that . So I asked who does and where are they . Again he just looked like I had 3 heads . So eventually after 20 minutes I googled the number for the hotel and phoned when the person who was on the front desk came out of the cellar . She couldn’t find our booking and had to check for it . She then showed us to our room which was very nice ( although the bath plug wouldn’t pull out to drain the water ) the food was very nice in the restaurant that night and at breakfast the next morning . The leisure facilities was also very nice with a pool and jacuzzi to relax in . It was very warm in the room but as it was one of the hottest days of the year that was the same everywhere . Upon check out we had another slight issue , a different front desk staff wanted to charge us for the room which we had pre paid . This was quickly resolved showing them the email receipt but again just let the whole check in check out part of it down massively.

A lovely weekend away. The hotel was easy to find with plenty of parking. All members of staff were welcoming, informative and friendly. The room and on suite were perfect; a good size, clean and the beds were comfy. The food (breakfast and dinner) was delicious with a good selection of dishes, the small plates being perfect for children. My nieces' (who is 8) favorite part was the swimming pool which was a great size, nice changing rooms and towels provided. The perfect place to stay and enjoy Herefordshire and Brecon area.

Fantastic hotel. Both traditional and modern. Friendly and helpful staff. Great breakfast option with lots of seating Well socked, large bar and area. Walking distance to Hergest Ridge and surrounding countryside. Unfortunately didn't take advantage of the pool and gym.

The hotel highlights are the staff. All young but all so incredibly professional and helpful. The room we had was in a newer block and the room was good. It had a Separate patio area. Bed was comfortable. The shower floor did become very slippy when wet and a lot of water does escape from the shower onto the bathroom floor. We tried the restaurant and the food was good and reasonably priced. Breakfast is also included and again was good. We also used the leisure facilities and had a good swim in the pool. The bar was large and very reasonably priced. The town of Kington is a bit tired. Quite a lot of empty units but if your looking for a reasonably priced room and the location works for you I would say give this hotel and the incredible staff a go.

Well laid out for disabled access, no problem parking/unloading. Times require changing in the in the information books, states breakfast served till 10 am when they actually close at 9:30 am. But apart from this a enjoyable stay.

A very pleasant hotel with polite, friendly staff. The spa is of a good quality and was never too busy. Breakfast was good and arrived quickly. Our room was slightly cramped but there are better rooms available. The hotel is in a good position for walking locally.

We had a short (one night) stay but thought the hotel was great. We had free parking right outside our room which came with standard amenities and was spacious. Every member of staff was so friendly and helpful, just so accommodating. We were ready to book in for a family swim session but were so pleased it was free as we were guests, the pool area is lovely and has a lovely hot tub/ sauna. They provided all towels for the spa too so no need to bring your own from your room. We booked in the restaurant and had no issue booking in with a high chair for our 1yr old, we ordered a light bite for her and the chef was happy to make it smaller for her - they offered this without us requesting. Breakfast was great, help yourself to fruits/drinks/toast and then order a large plated breakfast from the menu - lots of choice and all really tasty. The only thing was that our room was absolutely boiling and we could only open a patio door to let some air in, which was fine until we wanted to sleep as it was a fairly climbable wall by the outside road and didn’t feel it was wise to leave it open all night while we slept. Perhaps there was a way to keep it ajar without it being opened from the outside and we didn’t realise. Overall though, the staff were just super friendly and provided the best customer service, it really makes such a difference when staff are genuinely helpful.

Disappointed that the leasure center and pool were undergoing renovation and we had not been informed of this at the booking stage. We should have been informed by the hotel or Expedia. What compensation will there be for this disappoint.

Extremely disappointed - spa and pool closed due to building work, not clearly stated on Expedia. Specifically booked for these facilities after a very long drive. Hotel needed updating and didn’t feel immaculately clean. Front desk was a mess. Paid £144 for one night in a room that felt like a Premier Inn room with a fridge added. Stains on carpet, no pictures or nice touches apart from robes and slippers. Sofabed looked tired and old. Cooked breakfast was good but continental had only mandarin segments - no other fruit and no choice of cereals or pasties. Dining room was bland and dark with no atmosphere - we asked to put music on as it was deathly quiet. Best thing was free parking in a lovely historic town and the shoe shop opposite which was a Sketchers outlet selling end of line with at least 50% discount. Thai restaurant a few doors down from hotel was excellent with outstanding food. Wouldn’t stay again.

I managed to get the last parking space available fortunately. The hotel is a mix of old and new. The older part is pleasant enough but the new rooms more recently built in a separate building are excellent. The food at The Burton is good. No complaints whatsoever. The thing that stood out though was the staff. They were all so helpful and welcoming. From the young lady who had just started at the hotel to the manager Jana, they were all exceptional.
