Not the easiest place to find, not helped by the Hotels email with parking/access arriving after we returned home. Parking is convenient. The hotel is convenient if visiting the area. The room was quiet despite the central location. It was functional/adequate for a brief visit. A little tired. The lighting is poor for reading unless you switch a lamp on/off at the skirting switch. The safe didn't work but it felt secure.

Convenient location to Main Street. Welcoming desk staff. But..Safe did not work, room very dark and poorly lit. Additional desk lamp had no switch, needed to turned off at the wall each time. Shower cycled rapidly from too hot to too cold - impossible to stand under spray for more the 5 secs. Cannot understand lack of included daily service - requires additional 5 pounds per day for trash to be emptied, coffee to be replenished. Located on noisy walk through from Main street to parking area.

I thought the room could do with updating as the walls were dirty and in general looked tired. The price didnt reflect the room. The staff however were exceptionally friendly and efficient.

This is the second time the family has stayed here. In the 3-year period it has gone do n terribly. Mould in the shower. Leaking shower tray. Cracked plaster. Noisy a/c. Uncomfortable bed. Terrible pillows. Power in our room kept cutting out too. Needs a major renovation.

Arrived late at night and was greeted by a lone receptionist who checked me in and handed key card and explained how to enter code to room. What she didn’t say was that there are no light in the area that you have to enter a code to get through to the rooms, after dropping off bags the hotel is right on the high street , so great for dining options, I went to the Giggling Squid Thai. After a good nights sleep in a comfy bed it was time for a nice hot shower before leaving at 6am. However the shower was cold, and after running the water for 5 mins,still stayed cold. Not what you want in October. My room had a bedside table still sticky from beer or contents of drinks and there was mould and shower trays falling apart Not the best hotel stay I have had

The staff were very nice and checkin was fine. Unfortunately, I didn’t notice until I’d already unpacked that there was an extreme amount of mould and mildew in the shower with one fixture even coming away from the wall and the shower door seal cracked. Also, the WiFi was not consistent: sometimes it worked well other times not so well.

Staff were very nice, quick check in, the room was quite dark and the a/c unit didn’t work so did get hot without the window open, which presented a bit of a security issue as I was on the ground floor. But overall perfect for my needs, nicely decorated and clean room.

Whilst a little dated, the bed in the economy double room was comfortable and we had a good night's sleep. The room itself was dark (not great lighting and one window looking over a small yard). The bathroom was OK. The shower was over a high sided bath and was a mixer rather than thermostatic. Plenty of hot water. Towels were fluffy and big! Tea and coffee in the room as well as water and biscuits and more on request at reception. Staff were fantastic. Really friendly, helpful and wanting to make your stay as comfortable as possible. This is room only. Breakfast was not available although there was an option for a discounted breakfast at another venue.

Last minute booking, room was fine for a one night stay but even though it was cold outside the room was like an oven and due to its location on the walkway opening a window wasn't really an option, there was aircon but it's noisy and dries me out, other than that a very good room for a very reasonable price.

This might have been a great stay once. Had to change rooms as the shower did not work. New shower was no better. First night, fire alarm started. Stopped, started again. It turns out the front desk person just tried to shut it off the first two times it rang. That’s concerning. Glad there wasn’t a real emergency. The same front desk person would not allow a complete sentence spoken to her. Instead, she’d talk over you loudly and just insist on not letting a guest finish a sentence. Dirty broken parts of rooms, unvacuumed floors, etc. The room keys had to be reprogrammed after every use. Avoid this place

Lovely place in centre of town. Room good size with all amenities. Quiet and warm when i was there. Plenty of shops and restaurants close by. Free car parking too

This hotel was in the perfect location while visiting my family in Berkhamsted. Right off the high street, large room, lots of storage space, water, tea and coffee, early check in, luggage storage. The staff were all very friendly and helpful.

Whilst a little dated, the bed in the economy double room was comfortable and we had a good night's sleep. The room itself was dark (not great lighting and one window looking over a small yard). The bathroom was OK. The shower was over a high sided bath and was a mixer rather than thermostatic. Plenty of hot water. Towels were fluffy and big! Tea and coffee in the room as well as water and biscuits and more on request at reception. Staff were fantastic. Really friendly, helpful and wanting to make your stay as comfortable as possible. This is room only. Breakfast was not available although there was an option for a discounted breakfast at another venue.

The Good (G), The Bad (B) and the Best (B): G: Excellent facilities for either long weekend Staycationers, Business and travellers. B: Facilities are currently being upgraded to really decent traveler nice facilities so electronic lock issues, bathroom shower not working properly and the air con out of order so a good quality Dyson fan in place. Some very “dodgy” looking spray marks on the roof above the bed also was not optimal. B: room was on a seriously good value rate, king size bed was very comfortable, quiet, safe and close to shops, restaurants and tourist attractions, so bar the improvements needed that are in progress, I will most definitely return and highly recommend. Kudos to their reception (sarah) and night porter team. Friendly, helpful and really kind. What more would one want to top and long weekend getaway. thank you!! i will be back!! :)
