Azul del Mar

The property is immaculate! Older but very clean effencies. We had an ocean view room which included a sitting area. They provided coffee, cream, water and sodas. They didn’t have a pool on the property but you can use the pool at the sister property.

A little slice of heaven! It was everything we wanted. Loved relaxing on the lounge chairs on the beach and dock (perfect spot to watch the sunset!). We enjoyed paddling on the bay with the kayaks! Because this boutique resort is so small, the chairs, kayaks and paddle boards were readily available and it felt like we were in our own private haven. The suite we stayed in was spacious, clean and bright. Loved the full wall sliding doors with the great view of the bay (we were in the Aquamarina suite). The grounds were meticulously kept and the staff super! Special shout out to Miguel who went above and beyond daily! Trips to the other Keys were easy with an enjoyable ride down Overseas Highway which takes you all the way to Key West. But on days you don’t want the drive, you can enjoy beautiful bayside dining within waking distance. Thank you Azul Del Mar making what we thought would a good trip, an amazing one!!

Requested early check in, I had to call at 4 to get room access. Temp in room had to stay at 72, hot at night. We had to buy a fan. Azul has no fans to lend. Room service sign was out all day, never came. Had to request extra towels and tp. The room was clean. The beach and cabana were very nice. Kayaks on site free to use.

Quiet with a private beach area. The Boat House room was nice and clean. We enjoyed the free used of the kayak and paddle board. Only problems are ice machine not working and noise air conditioner in the room. I would stay here again. Hope next time their ice machine is working.

Property was tucked away and had an amazing dock and small beach area. Grounds were nicely kept and access to kayaks, bikes and paddle boards was very nice. The room (Boat House) was a bit unexpected as it was attached to the office and did not have any windows except the front door. Bed was comfortable and kitchen well equipped. The room had everything we needed - just a little odd but the beach access and dock made up for it.

Our only qualm with the stay at Azul was slow or no response. Asked for possible late checkout with no response. Lighting was dim at best during the evening. Be informed that if you arrive during the evening's hours the lighting is poor along walkways. Firm bed, but comfortable. Very clean and nicely appointed, save for there only being one wine glass in the cupboard for wine drinkers. Plenty of fresh towels, soap, shampoo and conditioner. Keurig with plenty of coffee and tea. Also water and soda provided in the fridge.

Azul Del Mar is a nice piece of property to spend a few days. Quiet and relaxing with a small dock to enjoy the sunset. The dive resort has a pool that guests can use. I would give 5 stars if there was someone at the front desk.

Gorgeous property with a private beach and dock with lounge areas. We enjoyed an amazing sunset from the beach. Even though the management is off site they had a great attention to detail and were extremely responsive to the message app on Hotels.com. Lovely room with all needed amenities. We were pleasantly surprised to have a laundry facility on site. We would definitely stay here again.

Liked having the kayaks available for exploring the water, and the little beach and dock.

Oceanfront is a stretch. You open up to a split of sand and about 25 feet of water. The walk from parking lot with luggage to the room was riddled with holes, uneven paths and just inconvenient. For the amount we paid, would expect amenities to include body wash. Geez!

The property itself was amazing! Very nice! The bed was a little firm and we found a couple hairs from someone else under the blankets on the bed. Would be 5 stars if not for the hair findings. We always inspect our bed before laying down so that part was disappointing. Overall though was very nice, quiet and definitely safe. I would recommend others to stay here

The Azul Del Mar is extremely secluded which is nice, a bit outdated, but was still a nice stay. The floors were not swept when we entered the room, we saw no staff when we arrived because it was a self check-in process. We eventually saw a non-speaking housekeeper, but that is the only person we saw in 48 hrs. Key Largo is a humid environment, but the unit smelled a bit musty. Maybe a humidifier would be beneficial. The fridge had drinks for us, bed was nice, we ran out of washcloths and had no way to get any. Overall we had a good stay, but improvements are needed to make our stay a bit better.

Out dated. Black molded in showers and ceiling. Patio filthy. Toilet paper holder broke. Sink in king suite is size of a camper sink. Pics online are nothing like it is in person. Not even the hammocks. Dryer broke. But location is amazing. Sadly we left after one night of our 3 night stay

They sent the waiver/agreement via email the same day as check-in, I had to send my drivers license photo and sign the check-in agreement. Still never received a code to unlock our room 2 hours after check-in time. I had to call and ask for our code to our room because we were locked out. Turned shower on and water started leaking out of faucet and handles during shower.. more water leaking than coming out of shower head. Duvet top cover has stains. Upon opening the bed covers, we found hairs and sheets felt extremely rough almost sandy. Front door window has no cover, you can see everything from the outside, had to make shift cover front door window with a towel. Bottom dresser drawer has long screws sticking out, dangerous and cannot use. Not what I expected for almost $500/night.

Rooms were very clean. Staff was very nice.

There was a cockroach in the room

The room was not ready when we arrived at check in. The bed had no linens, the room was a mess, dishes on the counter and a used condom out in the open. Absolutely terrible. They had the maid come and clean but the room wasn’t ready for us until 8:00 pm or so.

Super easy late check-in and friendly service. Office closes around 5:30PM but attendant provided after hour instructions. The room is smaller than pictured and not well kept. But the main issue I have is that it smells moldy. There’s no ventilation in the bathroom. I can’t seem to open the one window that looks like it could open. The shower has a sunken tub, at first I just thought that it was interesting but then when I was using it, I realized that the water gathers at my feet. The tiles in the bathroom are falling apart as well. The layout is awkward. The sink doesn’t have much of a storage section. So I essentially walked back and forth to the kitchenette where I placed my toiletries. The bed only has one night stand as the other side is against an angled closet. We stayed from past 10pm until past 8am. This is the first time I woke up without my alarm and decided to leave the hotel because I both can’t sleep and can’t stand the smell. I barely slept all night. I’m coughing as I write this outside. I’m confused at all the high ratings. I told the office about the mold and they thanked me and said they will relay to management.

Boathouse room needs a dehumidifier and air purifier. Very small with a very musty smell in room. No ventilation, room only has a door... No windows. Otherwise, room was very clean and well supplied with everything you would need... microwave, refrigerator with freezer, even a dishwasher.

It’s a small place with very nice areas to sit by the water, and the rooms are decent. However, the doors have see through windows and there isn’t any curtain, and front desk didn’t have anything to provide when asked to. Walls are thin and other guests can be heard easily but luckily the neighbors were quiet. The water pressure in the shower and bathtubs is extremely low so you won’t feel clean in the shower and the bath will take extremely long to fill. Check in time was 4pm earliest which is quite late, and checkout time was 11am which is too early when you only checked in at 4pm. There is an easy self check in process where they message you the code to your room door however they didn’t message me the code to my door so I had to ask them for it. They have lounge chairs by the water, hammocks, have a small dock and paddleboards / kayaks you can use. The rooms have a microwave, minifridge / freezer, coffee maker, dresser, table, tv, AC/heat unit that is easily controlled via remote. They need to add curtains or blinds to doors and improve the water pressure, make checkout time later, and ensure guests have received their room code on check in day.

The place is small and cozy, making early check-in nearly impossible. Unfortunately, our stay coincided with a rainy weekend. We stayed in the Aquamarine room, which was spacious and featured a king-size bed so comfortable you’ll want to stay in it all day. Be sure to bring insect repellent, as the mosquitoes are quite intense. The air conditioning and shower could be improved, the water pressure was very low, and it took a while to heat up. Overall, it was a pleasant stay.

The room was nice and large and the small private beach is good. My biggest complaint was that the shower in the bathroom did not work. I was only there for 1 night so by the time I complained it was too late for them to do anything.

It was a charming stay. I loved the small, intimate feel the location gave. The only downfall is the thin walls; we could hear the kids next door playing all night. Other than that, the place is beautiful and has a homey feel.

My fiancée and I stayed here for 3 nights in the Caribe room. This room had a private porch with table, chairs, and umbrella and a spacious king size bed and large bathroom. It also had a nice kitchenette with all the essentials (plates, cups, utensils, etc). The hotel was quiet and felt secluded despite being right off the Overseas highway There were also many cool perks including complimentary drinks in the fridge, washer and dryer on site, access to a pool and food truck, private beach with great views, and free use of kayaks and paddle boards! However, there were also a few minor cons, specifically regarding the room we stayed in. If anything these things were minor inconveniences but still worth noting. First, the room has a serious lack of outlets. There is only one by the bed and it is behind the king size bed. The other two outlets were on the other side of the room, which is not super practical. There was also only one night stand with a lamp. It would have been nice to have two nightstands and lamps. The outlet situation could have been remedied by simply adding lamps with USB plugs. There is no desk or table inside the room. It would have been nice to have a small table to have breakfast, coffee, or work from inside the room. The table outside is nice. But not always the best with the heat and bugs. Lastly, the shower/tub was awkward and could use an update. Overall, the pros outweighed the cons. We still enjoyed our stay!!

Note: my review is very specific to one room-type: La Palma. I almost feel bad to give this low-rating, but I think it is necessary to give this review to help out future travelers to this hotel. The location is amazing, and so is the overall vibes of this place. Loads of greenery and it is right on the bay. They have created a (tiny) beach which looks very cute. Overall, I would have loved this place, if it weren’t for the room we got. La Palma, does not have a bathroom door! I would have never booked a hotel had I known this before. (I did see a review mentioning this when I reached there, but it was a recent review and hadn’t been published when I had booked the hotel). Without the door, you are practically sharing the bathroom with anyone who you are sharing the room with (and mind you, the room is not extremely big either, so everything is happening right in front of you). I am sorry to write this, but you can’t go about doing your business, in front of another person, even if it is your better half! I wrote to the owner, and got a response that they are aware of this situation and working on it. Well, it doesn’t help me! Also the fact that someone else posted the same issue 3 weeks ago, clearly they are NOT working on it actively. Had they been, I wouldn’t have to leave the room and go outside, every time my wife wanted to take a dump, and vice-versa! It was HUGELY INCONVENIENT! Especially pinches more when you have to do this after paying north of four hundred bucks

We stayed in the Celeste room on the second floor. Pros:The room was clean, the linens smelled incredibly fresh. The bed was comfortable. Housekeeping came every day to refresh the bed and towels. Cons (if you can really even call them that): The mini fridge doesn't get super cold. The view of the ocean is partially obstructed by the tiki huts and palm trees. The bathroom is kinda small and our shower was out of body wash. But the bathroom water was good and the pressure was good. There's a small shelf above the toilet that leans down a little, it has a small faux plant on it that you can tell by the bits of toilet paper that it fell in the toilet at some point. It should probably just be thrown away. Overall, it was wonderful. It was unseasonably cold the weekend we were there, and I couldn't figure out how to get the heat on. Mimi from the front desk staff came right up and showed me how to turn it on. I love how secluded this resort is. There are only 6 units so that's nice. We weren't able to use the amenities (kayak, paddle boards) bcz of the wind and cold this past weekend but I imagine it would have been lovely. The fabric lounge chairs up on the dock are worn and could use replacing. But again, this place is quite lovely and I would definitely stay here again and I would recommend it to anyone.

Loved the room and the view. Only downside was the bed was really uncomfortable and squeaky. The doors of the other rooms were squeaky and you could hear everything from the other rooms.

We stayed in the Royale Suite. It was absolutely beautiful, great view, and comfortable. The only reason for 4 stars is the bathroom really needs a little attention. It was not dirty but the walk in time tub/shower has a lot of staining and there is or was a water leak by the toilet that needs sure attention, otherwise I absolutely loved the property and, it was clean and felt like we had a private beach all to ourselves. Would definitely recommend and would definitely stay again.

This is such a great find of a small boutique hotel. The grounds and rooms are beautiful. From the manager helping us with our luggage to our room to introducing Maria to make our stay special. They have thought of every special little touches to make it such a great find. We would highly recommend staying here!!!! 5 stars is not enough!!

Our flight was delayed due to weather. They sent me a code to get into the room but not the time number. I called them no answer. They close at 5 pm we didn’t get here until almost midnight. I couldn’t find the room i walked around but without a room name or number it was impossible. I’m at the Hampton. In Florida it is the law that someone is on duty at the front desk 24 hours a day. I want my money returned.

It's a self check-in which is fine. But I received NO code to use and we had no idea what room we were staying in. Could not contact the owner at # privided had to go next door and use a number they had. Then when we got in the room had not been cleaned and there were bugs on the bed. We had to find another hotel and now we are trying to get a refund and hotels.com can't reach them to approve our refund. Yes it was a non refundable because I booked it same day. We should be able to get a refund. NOT HAPPY WITH THIS PLACE AT ALL

When we got there, there's nobody in the lobby and there's a number to call. That's fine, but there's no answer at the number. We try for a while, then have to wander the property to find someone. Same at checkout. Dirty room, no bathroom fan, shower is just an old jetted hot tub with a shower curtain and shower faucet bolted on. Mildew on the bathroom windowsills. I could go on... and we paid $300 for the night! Not worth $100. I don't usually leave reviews but this was crazy.

Our stay was very comfortable. The Hotel is tucked away off the main strip but was very quiet. The room was very clean and efficient. The grounds are well cared for and the seating could be just a little more comfortable. the only recommendation would be a grab bar in the shower area The Staff was very helpful and courteous

Great Gulf View

Nice tiny hotel that seemed like it used to be a small building of condos. Very nice room. Friendly staff. AirBnb like check-in was unexpect but just fine. They have a nice little slice of Blackwater Sound with a great view of sunset (late March). Small beach and two thatched seating areas with gulf view. Definitely will come back with my wife.

Older buildings but recently updated. Beautiful little sliver of beach and dock. Free beverages in fridge. Could see the ocean from our window. Free laundry! Perfect place for a quick stop to relax. Had food delivery from Fernandez the Bull Cuban restaurant also which was amazing.

We aren’t picky travelers, however, the room was in need of serious repairs. The shower bar was broken, door handle to the outside was broken and kept falling off, poorly patched holes in the wall, I stepped on two different pieces of glass that got stuck in my foot ( we didn’t break anything). We were given the incorrect code to get in so we had to call the after hours number. There was nobody onsite to ask questions, food truck wasn’t open, bathroom set up was very weird and shower was awkward. Smelled funny.

If you are looking for a high-energy resort with lots of activities and amenities, this is not the place for you. But if you are looking for a quiet, intimate retreat--this is the perfect place! My wife's first words when we walked into our room were "Well, this is cute!" Very much a boutique motel. We stayed in the Caribe room, which does not face the water but does have a little private patio. There were a few issues with the access code and coffee maker when we first got there, but they were quickly resolved and the rest of our stay was quite enjoyable. An easy walk to Sundowners (which is excellent!), Jimmy Johnson's places, and several other bars. A short drive to lots of other great restaurants, Publix, etc. The property does have a small beach (more for show) and there is access to kayaks and paddleboards, which we did not do. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to going back in the future.

The vibe here is chill and relax. The food truck had excellent food for breakfast and lunch. The rooms were clean and the staff was super friendly. It's a great location.
