Livermead House Hotel

Die Mitarbeiter waren sehr freundlich, wir konnten unsere Koffer sowohl am Anreise- als auch am Abreisetag im Hotel lassen und vor dem Checkin waren sie bereits auf unsere Zimmer gebracht worden, was sehr aufmerksam war. Die Zimmer selbst waren leider mehr Schein als Sein und je länger wir uns dort aufhielten, desto mehr Dinge sind uns aufgefallen: Generell ist das Mobiliar schon sehr in die Jahre gekommen. An der Badewanne befand sich eine rostfarbene "Wasserlinie". Ich habe das Wasser extra noch aus dem Hahn laufen lassen, was allerdings klar rauskam, sodass ich nicht weiß, woher dieser "Rinnsal" kam. Am Badezimmertürgriff von Innen befand sich eine klebrige, beigefarbene Substanz, total ekelig, es könnte Make Up oder Schokolade gewesen sein. An der Badezimmerwand befanden sich kleine rostrote Flecke, die nach Blut aussahen. Über der Toilette an der Wand befanden sich Flecke, die nach Zahnpasta aussahen. Im Zimmer an der Decke befanden sich noch Spinnenfäden. Als Bettdeck gab es nur eine Wolldecke, um die lediglich von einer Seite aus ein Laken gelegt war, was ich persönlich als sehr unhygienisch empfand. Auf mein Zimmerfenster war direkt ein Strahler gerichtet, sodass die ganze Nacht Licht durch die Vorhänge schien. Mein Zimmer befand sich direkt gegenüber vom alten Fahrstuhl, weswegen es teilweise ganz schön laut war. Aus dem Seifenspendern in der Damentoilette im EG kamen zusätzlich zur Seife schwarze Flecken raus, was sehr ekelig war.

Good stay. Can't say much for 3 stars hotel really. Service is good.

We stayed at this hotel as a group of six, in three different rooms. The location is wonderful, right on the seafront with an enormous sea view. The atmosphere is nostalgic, old-fashioned, and classic, which we really enjoyed. Parking was available with an overnight charge and proved very convenient. The small swimming pool and hot tub were well preserved and pleasant to use. Staff were welcoming and friendly, which made us feel at home. Overall, the hotel gave us the impression of stepping back into the 1980s in a charming way. The only real issue was with our room (number 30). While our friends’ rooms on the first floor were well accommodated, our second-floor room was less comfortable. The old-fashioned furniture can be part of the charm, but in this case the bed and bed sheets felt very dated and not entirely clean. The coloured rug on the floor also seemed worn and unclean. The shower was the most problematic feature, with very low water pressure and a faulty mixer tap. Unfortunately, this made it difficult to rest comfortably overnight. It’s worth noting that this seemed to be specific to our room, the others were fine, but room 30 would benefit from some updates and redecoration to match the otherwise positive experience of the hotel.

Staff were ignorant never spoke or said please /thank you , pushed passed us in the lift on our day of leaving as they couldn’t wait for me to take the case out the lift , hotel was run down needing a massive makeover , lift was something out of the 1940’s with sliding metal doors to enter and exit , furniture in room was dated back to the 1980,s and the shower and cubical was a joke there was hardly any water pressure for the shower and the cubical would fit a small child only not a full grown adult .in the bar the larger was on offer , I know why now as it was awful, probably passed its sell by date .beds and pillows were awful like sleeping on a stone slab , I have thrown better pillows away ! This hotel was not cheap and with hindsight I wouldn’t have booked it , should charge no more the £70-80 per night in my opinion as we stayed at a better hotel the night before with breakfast for less than we payed here, My option give this hotel a big miss!!

On arrival, the receptionist seemed to have a negative attitude and was far from welcoming. Two nights booked and paid in advance, but left after one. I never read the bit about paying to park (£5 per night) or breakfast. No fan in the bedroom, but could upgrade for an additional £60. We have stayed in many Torbay hotels over the last 40 years, but will never return to this one.
