Mountain Valley Inn

Nice little pool area. No trash seen anywhere on the property. One of the best restaurants ever for good Southern meals one building down, very easy to walk to. Room inside was clean, beds and pillows were very comfortable and we got an excellent quite rest. Facilities are older but there are renovations going on presently, we were not disturbed by any of them. Evidently they are on one end and the guests are on the other for the time being.

Unfortunately, the motel is in some stage of improvement. It is pictured as tan and brown and is an incomplete painted blue and white. Maybe has new A/C, front door/lock, new bathroom door and flooring. Furnishings are banged up, as are the walls. Bathroom sink is in room tucked behind an alcove against the bed. Bathroom is dated and shows wear. Photos certainly are not current or accurate of any portion of the property, motel or rooms. Property has lots of construction type debris. Breakfast was very poorly stocked even at 7:30. Property caters to road crew workers.

Outside grounds in disarray. Bed frame sqeekedl loudly every time you moved and the mattress sunk in horribly. Did not have enough bath linens for our family of three. Sink, bath and bed linens were clean; walls and baseboards needed cleaning and paint. We chose this place based on other reviews that rated this location highly. We were very disappointed. We will not plan to stay here again.

I rented a room with 2 queen beds and with a outside pool.. The beds were full beds and the pool was closed. I formally request a refund. They stated no refund. I'm formally requesting a refund from HOTEL. COM. I DROVE 8 HOURS ONLY TO FIND THE ROOM WAS NOT AS ADVERTISED.

This is a budget family owned hotel. We have been staying here for four years and it gets better every time we come. They have renovated all of the rooms and they are nice. The place is really clean. They are in the process of painting the exterior and getting the pool open. We did lose our internet and TV all of Saturday but we survived. It wasn’t the facilities fault.

The king sized bed is very large and so far, pretty comfortable. There are 4 pillows on the bed, 2 per person so I guess that's reasonable but I think 3 each would be more comfortable for reclining with your back against the headboard a bit more. There is an ice machine on the property so that's a nice convenience. Unfortunately the vending machine with drinks was completely sold out. Fortunately there's a Dollar General store within walking distance from Inn. I couldn't tell if the pool is open for the season yet or not. It looked a little dirty when we walked past it. It's May though so it's possible they don't open it until memorial Day. The Dillard House Restaurant is only a short drive away so we had dinner there. As other people have mentioned when reviewing this Inn, the layout of the location of the sink and mirror are facing towards the bed, on the other side of the wall from the bathroom. You have to leave the bathroom to go around the corner to the bed area to wash your hands in the sink. It's a rather odd set up but it's a very clean and clutter free layout. You're provided with the necessary amenities such as soap, a hand towel, a wash cloth, a rug and 2 towels. There is a TV with cable, a desk and rolling desk chair, a sitting chair, luggage rack, medium sized mini fridge, microwave and coffee maker. The wifi doesn't offer a very strong signal but it's better than nothing. The girl at the front desk was very nice and welcoming. I would stay here again.

An older motel, it appears that they're sprucing it up a bit: old mattresses and bed frames piled up in a corner of the parking lot indicate that some furniture is being replaced; the window on my room was papered over to protect the glass from overspray from paint. New vinyl flooring in my room and old carpet in my nephews' room suggest that flooring is being replaced, too. Overall it was a fairly average older motel. Not awful, and not great.

Freshly remodeled, great location and great pricing

We have stayed here plenty of times and is good for the price and usually very clean. The room we stayed in this time had some questionable furniture with some pretty serious stains. The bed seemed very well cleaned, but overall it leaves some doubts. The hotel is also starting to fall behind on updates and maintenance. Sad because we have been using them for a long time. They’re always nice and we have never had issues with safety or problems. We usually just sleep there on short stays in the area, so usually a late check in and early check out, again also very nice people! Sad that things seem to be aging in a negative direction.

Room smelled awful. There was blood on back of door.

Average budget hotel. Shower curtain bar pulling out of wall and sagging down like it has done many times before (obvious by multiple repair sites). Sink cracked. Black along baseboards and paint missing on corners. A/C unit loud and top plastic cracked so bad you could get your hand in there. Don’t get a room under the outside wooden staircases (ex #102). People suck and sounds like a herd of elephants going up and down. Black drain flies everywhere, must have killed 15. Trash everywhere outside, even some old furniture stacked up by the firepit. I guess to burn? I could go on, but by previous reviews, I knew what I was getting into. Stayed here years back and I remember it being pretty nice even for it’s age. Not so much now.

The clean motel

Have to admit, the motel does not look very promising from the outside. The grounds could use a lot of work. However, walking into my room I had a completely different view. The room was very neat and clean. It had a nice shower and a very comfortable bed. I could not have been more pleased.pleased.

Other than waiting twenty minutes for the office worker to come back every thing was great. The room was clean.

This property is not bougie, but it is clean, safe, quiet, and comfortable. Perfect for a good night’s sleep.

Check in was simple and check out was just leaving the key, parking is good and overall in a good location, and the room was decently cleaned upon our arrival, these are only reasons I gave them 2 stars instead of 1. Now for the bad, the rooms are old and small, walls are stained, the seals on the door aren’t the best, also very thin walls. They also have a stink bug problem and don’t want to admit it, we had a total of 7 bugs that we found over our 3 night stay. As first we thought it was a fluke as they are in the mountains and as a Floridian I know bugs happen sometimes, but nothing beats having a big fly at your head while trying to eat and walking up to bugs crawling on the wall over multiple days. The housekeeper was very sweet and gave us extra towels when requested and trash bags so I could bag up my trash and place it outside as I usually don’t request room cleanings during hotel stays, but one of the towels I got had a bug leg attached to it. The coffee machine was down but I was able to get hot water for my tea from it and they had a coffee pot going for those who wanted coffee, and breakfast is very limited. They had sunny d, toast, coffee and muffins and yogurt. Over all would not stay here again and don’t recommend unless you want to deal with bugs. This place has a lot of potential but they really need to fix the bug problem and update the rooms.

The room was very clean. The tv did not work properly. No telephone in room so if you were having a problem you had to gobto officevto notify staff of issue.

The cheapest in the area. But it was clean, even though the condition of the rooms and property left a lot to be desired. The biggest problem was that the heater in the room was as loud as a jet engine and would constantly turn on and off all night every five minutes. I finally had to unplug it for good—which is how I found it when I entered the room, and now I know why.

Very outdated. Beds are awful if you have any sort of back issues. It felt like I was sleeping on a trampoline.The rooms are small and the sink and mirror is outside of the bathroom, literally a foot from the side of the second bed. Super awkward!! There would be a bit of a mountain view but good luck seeing anything out of that single pane scratched up piece of plexiglass they call a window. We originally had the double queen bed room but upgraded to the "suite". That room was much better, because the size literally doubled and the sink was where it belonged. But that set us back $120 for $79 worth of a room. I dont think they'd allow that pull-out bed to be used on prisoners in guantanamo as a torture device. I wouldn't wish that thing on my worst enemy. The property was peaceful and the guy at the counter was friendly. No roaches to speak of and the rats pretty well kept to themselves. FOUR STARS!

Staff informed us that breakfast would not be up to par so we did not eat breakfast there. They only gave us two towels for the entire stay, and the second night they only gave us one face towel or washcloth. Washcloth the coffee was terrible in the room, it would seem like from the pictures that there would be a balcony or area that you could look at the mountains, but that's in a specific room., and unreliable because it never stayed connected. There were a limited amount of channels on the TV to watch, and the beds were very uncomfortable because they are spring mattresses. There were two restaurants very close to the inn, one was a Mexican restaurant, la Cabana, and the other was the cottage restaurant. There is also a Dollar general very close as well.

Clean, nice hot shower and large frig. Thin walls and ceiling. We could hear footsteps, voices, snoring and moaning ... The mattress was the worst and my husband and I were swallowed into the middle cavity and the pillows were like cement. Daddy longlegs were coming out of sink. Won't be back.

Friendly staff

Once we entered room, I checked the TV, and it did not work. Finally called the front desk and the lady that checked us in came within a few minutes. She checked the wires & connections, and brought several remotes. She then reprogrammed the TV and it began working. TV remained operational til bedtime when I attempted to turn it off. It would not turn off ! I finally unplugged it so we could go to sleep. Other than this the room was spotless, comfortable & quite reasonable price-wise. I would definitely return in spite of the quirky TV set..

First room smelled like smoke. Staff switched our room without a hitch. Much nicer. Not my first time here. Won't be my last.

The check in girl, was really sweet. check in was fast and efficient. Breakfast was, exactly as I expected it to be. The Tv didn't get too many channels but we weren't there to watch tv so it was fine. Great little place.

Good for a night stay for a decent price if passing through the area or just need a place for a night. Staff was friendly even checking in super late.

Staff very accommodating when we needed shower curtain changed. Our go to place when we visit Rabun County. Best price in town!

Average everything crappy to nill service from the staff which doesn't even speak any English at all, guy had to have a dang translator to take my payment, unbelievable!! This is supposed to still be America the last I checked.. wake up people..

Service was poor. They wanted over $50 to check in a little early (max 3 hours). Not too friendly. And my wife noticed the sink smelled of fecal matter.

We had a wonderful stay. The front-desk clerk was very nice and suggested a great place for dinner; we ate there and it was delicious! He gave us a 1st-floor room as we had asked. The room was fine with everything we needed.

Mountain townand area was very nice

Conveniently between GA and NC. Good for a stopping point to rest for a night but we were there for a week and probably wouldn't do it again. Too many guests in and out. Parking is tight. Car got hit by another car opening their door. Construction in the area as well.

Great stay as always, we stay here coming and going from the Smokies mountains often, clean and quiet, nothing fancy just a great place to stay. There are great restaurants right next to place, Valley Cafe across the street and a Mexican restaurant next door, both are awesome!

Clean room, convient to town and national forest

Close to restaurant, easy in and out, clean.

The room and property are clean. The room is very clean and comfortable. Issues I can share are trivial. Closet rod, towel ring and toilet paper holder were rusted (due to humidity, no doubt). The water was hot and pressure was high. I stayed 3 nights and was not bothered by anyone at all. The mountain valley inn is secluded and quiet (except for the lead footed tenant above me) who, btw, wasn’t there all day. Just in the morning. Fridge was colder and freezer worked. Microwave worked well. Only other issue I had was that the gentleman behind the counter took a picture of my driver’s license AND MY CREDIT CARD. 1st time happening to me.

Only complaint - Breakfast didn’t open until 7:30. Normally that isn’t an issue but we were leaving early to get back on the road

A good value priced motel. It's not fancy, but it was spotlessly clean and fresh! Water was plentiful and hot. Beds comfortable and the room temperature was easy set. If would have been nice to know breakfast ended at 9:30. When I asked about it this I was curtly told it ended.

Great value for room in this North GA area. Needed a place to stay overnight to go to GA Mountain Fair. Room was clean with all needed amenities. Easy check-in and out. Nice continental breakfast.

The layout is slightly odd but the room was clean, nice size frig and microwave. They have free continental breakfast too! This was an unexpected trip and we go here very late, but the staff/owner were super and kind.

Our room was sufficient for the amount that we paid for our stay. It was very economical however there was water puddle in the floor when we came into the room. Beyond that the room was very clean. The room was daily serviced and cleaned with new towels, which was awesome. The breakfast was as expected.
