Large clean rooms, front desk service is friendly and efficient, the hotel is in a good area w many restaurant choices and the parking is free and covered. It’s a much larger ‘complex’ than I imagined and our room was at the very far end, overlooking the neighboring restaurant’s dumpsters. And it should be noted the pool is across a side street, small, unheated and not very clean.

Very basic motel. No breakfast, small pool, dated rooms.

Hotel was ok but limited on site parking.

We stayed one night. The good: There's great pho place a couple of doors away, it's about a 15-20 minute walk to the beach, it's clean, no extra charge for parking, and there were plenty of towels. The bad: light over sink didn't work, hot and cold water taps were mislabeled, sink was clogged, and bed wasn't comfortable. Other: there's a slow EV charger, but you're limited to 2 hours and can't charge during the day on weekdays, so don't choose the hotel because it has a charger. If you *must* be near the beach in Marina del Rey it's probably the lowest price option and it's OK, but it's painful to pay this much for just OK. We stay in the area frequently and won't be back.

Clean, comfy and cozy. Close tonthe beach of your driving or it’s about a 35 minute walk to Venice. Only issue I had was the parking situation. Not enough parking for people who are staying on the weekend. Friday and Saturday nights I had to wait and look for parking because every spot was taken and some cars even double parked and left no room for others. Given info have a big f-150. But, only issue for me was parking everything was good.

Easy to find and a easy access by car; not close to main attractions, you need to go by car/bus/scooter. Undercover parking is included in the price, which is really nice. Check in was easy, very friendly reception staff. Property tales a 100$ safety deposit by credit card upon arrival. Room very spacious, clean, had a fridge and coffee making facility but no microwave. Comfortable big beds. Old aircon unit on the wall. We did not use it just in case it was noisy; slept with windows open. Quite street at the back. Bus to go to Venice beach stops right by the petrol station opposite the hotel, which is very convenient and it only takes 10 minutes to get to the beach. Walking to the Marina we saw many caravans parked on the side of the road where homeless people live. 10 minutes before check out, they cut off the water to the room. So make sure you take a shower well before check out, or you will end up having to dry the soap with a towel. I think that is REALLY BAD MANNERS!!! even if they are on a strict check out time so cleaning can be done effectively; I feel I pay until 11 am so I should be able to use water until 11 am. We were clean and ready packed by 10:45 am so it was not an issue for us. We did not get to use the pool. No bathroom facilities in the lobby. Vending machines downstairs. I would still recommend it because despite those 2 negative points, the place is comfortable and clean.

Loved the garage parking.

There are ants in the shower and restroom. Sloping floors. Asked for a good room. They said, well there’s a bed. 😳

There were tiny roaches all over the room, even in the fridge and microwave.

There were ants in the bathroom, the table in the room was very unstable and felt like it would break very easily. The staff were very friendly tho so thats a plus.

Free parking, very clean room and bathroom except for sheets that were not changed before we came in and didn't realize how bad it was until next day.(Had a bad odor) they were changed after requested and it was much better. Staff was WONDERFUL. When we got there, they lost our reservation but gave us a key to room on 2nd floor, after bringing all our luggage upstairs (no elevator on that side of motel), we walked into a room with a family in there.So they gave us another room on 3rd floor,(I think it was their last room because it was VERY loud (in corner room#340 ), exit door slamming ALL night, after 2 am, it was New Years Eve) They did offer to change room next night but we were all unpacked and too tired to move, so we just sucked it up and put pillows on our head. Limited food and entertainment within walking distance, too far to walk to coast.Pool needed leaves to be taken out. Very small but clean and heated. Only 3 lounge chairs and 2 men were always in them sleeping. One chair had very dirty (and smelly) blanket and towel on it when the man wasn't there. The other man told us to keep it down cuz he was sleeping. Overall, we were not disappointed with staying there as it was very affordable so you get what you pay for. I don't mean for this to be a bad review but I wanted to be honest with our experience. .Positives, Staff, clean, comfortable beds, parking, small pool, and price. :0)

Very nice affordable hotel near many local amenities. The staff I interacted with was very accommodating as I needed to park a car when I originally did not think I would need it. The hotel is dated - but, it was clean.

Smelled terrible.

As mentioned when I called you immediately upon checking out, my room was infested with cockroaches. I called the front desk, who yelled at me after sending a maintenance person to pick up the live roaches. They moved me to a different room, across the MOTEL, but that room also had cockroaches. I called the front desk again and was berated and yelled at. He kept asking me what he was supposed to do about it. I was in tears and told him I was not comfortable sleeping with roaches. He continued to yell at me. I called Hotels.com immediately as I packed my belongings and headed to a Hilton where I paid over $500. It was around 11pm so I had to drive at night, alone and try to locate a new hotel without this health hazard. Hotels.com should remove this motel from their site. The executives from Hotels.com would be ashamed and embarrassed if they knew. Once again, I am disappointed and disgusted. I appreciate the Hotels.com credit but that Is not what I am seeking. I am seeking a refund for the stay I didn't have because I couldn't. I am also seeking that this place be looked at because it does not meet basic cleanliness standards.

Good location, VERY clean, great parking for the area, professional service at check in. Good value for money, close to beach parking near the pier if you get there early or late enough. Mattresses need replacing.

The rooms had cheap single pane windows that leaked water and could not block the excessive street noise..you hear traffic all night long..very loud.

If the only thing you need out of a hotel is a place to sleep and shower, the Jolly Roger will suffice. Despite its outdated exterior and interior, my room was clean. The bathroom fixtures need to be de calcified because the shower’s water flow was sputtering and the toilet wouldn’t flush because of sticking calcified levers. Parking is decent, but if you get to the hotel late in the evening, spots might be full. You’ll have to park somewhere street-side. Also, the hotel sits on a very busy 2-way multi-lane street. That could be frustrating depending on which direction you’re trying to go. There’s a Thai restaurant right next to the hotel and plenty of other restaurants within walking or driving distance. Overall, the hotel is good.

This is an older property. The room's furniture and design are dated, and the amenities are basic. However, the staff is friendly and the price is right. There are many restaurants in the area, and it's an easy 30-40 minute walk to the beach. My biggest complaint was how noisy it was. A couple in the room next to mine woke me up at 5 am talking and laughing loudly for a good hour or so, and my room was adjacent to a patio area where people were sitting and chatting until about 11 pm.

The front desk staff was unfriendly. The room smells like ancient building. Towels were yellow. Parking lot was small and I barely managed to park everyday.

Very happy from our stays at this hotel. Staff is great at the front office, they make it easier. We have used this hotel for its location, proximity to medical center and proximity to harbor and pier. Parking is great too. No additional parking fees which is almost impossible in this area. Most hotels and locations will charge a parking fee but not at this hotel. This is a big plus. The rooms are not luxurious but they're clean. It's been a different room every time and there are differences mainly in size but very consistent in cleanliness. Check in and check out is very easy. Parking is very easy. Not a whole lot of walking needed for this.

We stayed for two nights. Free parking is available and on Wednesday and Thursday night we had no problem finding parking at night. The staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean, there’s coffee machine and a fridge. We got beach towels to take with us to the beach. The hotel is an no smoking hotel, rooms are fresh and clean. Overall we were very happy with our stay and would recommend it!

The front desk person did not allow me to stay with my registered service animal. He proceeded to ask what my medical condition was. Kicked me out of a hotel I paid for at 10pm when he saw us outside. Beware.

We stayed three nights. Arrived late (1AM) with super easy check-in. The price for the location couldn't be beat with the level of comfort we experienced. Clean grounds and room. Very quiet all three nights and we slept incredibly on a comfy king. The bathtub was especially clean and water pressure/temperature were perfect! We can't wait to stay again, especially due to the hospitality of night shifter Terry! Thank you!

Perfect for the first night of our holiday. We know the area and although it doesn’t look great in a few places , it is a safe area. 15 minute walk to the start of Venice beach. If you want a cheap hotel in great location then The Jolly Roger is perfect, No frills but you get what you pay for,

The hotel location is very convenient for walking to many areas of interest in Venice Beach including a friend's recording studio on Abbot Kinney. Hotel is very functional as a place to stay and doesn't pretend to be luxurious.

Room was very clean, staff was nice. Big drawback is the location. Yes via car it's in a good location. However, if you want to go for a walk there's nothing nice around the property...or a coffee shop ..area is dirty and many homeless roaming around...so definitely not safe at night

Oct 24 - We dont mind walking and we avoid using the car so the 30mins walk to the beach & cafes was fine. Its a 1mile 2min drive to beach parking @ $6 per day. Its a good 1h 30min walk to Santa Monica pier.

No pool no Jacuzzi and no type of breakfast. We stayed here for yrs they used to have a nice breakfast spot with indoor & outdoor seating they stopped a little after 2020.

Friendly staff. Good location, easily walkable to Marina and Venice Beach.

This is a great affordable property to stay. The night manager and manager are really friendly and great. Although this is not a luxury hotel but the room is clean and everything work in the room and basic amenities are provided. They even have a printer, hand sink and microwave oven at the front desk. Vending machine for snack and water also available and do not need to go out of property if thirsty or hungry. Highly recommend this property to all who are looking for a clean, affordable and nice place to stay.

Breakfast was a bid poor...

Wasnt sure what to expect. It looks like a typical motel, but there is so much more. The gentleman that booked us in was amazingly friendly. It has a really clean smell throughout the whole hotel. Not sure what they use to clean it with. Almost too mich perfume for me, but at least you know they care to make it smell nice. So close to the beach, easily walkable. Right across the street from Gin Rummy, where you get amazing weekend BBQ food.

Great location to go to the beach, catch the bus to go to Downtown Santa Monica, and travel from/to the airport. Good price. Friendly staff
