The staff was am courteous and helpful. The hotel is in a great location and a reasonable price. The room was clean and had a long balcony although it was not wide. Breakfast is available on the rooftop terrace for an additional fee and it was plenty to eat including eggs made to order. The only downside to this hotel is that you need to carry your luggage up about 8 steps before you can get to the elevator. But otherwise, it was great and we would definitely stay there again!!

Economy Double Room- The hotel was well located to everything you’d want to see and do. There was NO PARKING. Although it says so in the listing there’s NONE. We checked ahead and found this out. We parked 1 block from the hotel for 25€ per night. The room was small as expected as was the bathroom. The bathroom was gross… shower pan was 2’x2’ and it was filthy. Laundry was also not available as listed. Again the location was ideal and the staff were wonderful, perhaps a different room would be better.

The Hotel Metropolis is affordable, friendly and family run with an ideal location for those who like to explore on foot. It is located an easy walk half way between the Syntagma and Monastiraki Metro stations. The view of the acropolis from the rooftop breakfast terrace is excellent. One warning for those who are overweight, unfit or travelling with a lot of luggage; some rooms are small, the elevator is extremely small and the winding staircase is narrow and steep.

The hotel is located in a strategic location; half way between Syntagma and Monastiraki metro stations, steps from Ermou shopping street and directly next to the Holy Metropolitan Church. The view from the Terrace is amazing as it overlooks both the church and the Acropolis. This is a rare find in Athens. The Staff are friendly, attentive, and accomodating. The hotel itself is basic; a kettle is provided upon request ,the shower water is hot, the bed is comfortable. The elevator, though outdated, functions just fine and I could fit with both my suitcases. It is no different than ones found in old buildings in Europe. Facilities do require maintenance and I already knew that before booking the hotel. That did not pose an issue for me.

The picture is what I saw from my balcony and the roottop terrace where they serve an excellent breakfast for 8 euros. Well-priced. Great location, 10 min walk straight up the street to the airport bus; more but walkable to the Acropolis and other major sites. Very clean and modernized. Easy to walk past but it's directly across from the largest basilica so easy to find again by sighting the dome. Only downsides: noisy because of the church bells and street noise (at least on a Saturday night) and difficult steps to the elevator which only has three walls--lots of trip hazards because of beautiful but creative flooring in an old building. Not up to modern American building codes, in other words.

The property is located in a great location about a 15 min walk to the Akropolis, and about 10 min to the Metro 3 to the airport. The rooms are tiny, as is the bathroom, but the shower was modern with good water flow from the top as well as a side spray. We had a very enjoyable dinner at a restaurant just around the corner. Breakfast at the rooftop is a definite highlight as you see the Akropolis. Since we weren't planning on spending a lot of time in the hotel, it didn't matter to us that the room was so tiny. The receptionists were very friendly and helpful. There is a tiny (2 person) elevator that was working well and helpful since my husband had sprained his ankle a few days earlier. About 10 yards from the hotel entrance is a small Maria Callas (the opera singer) museum that we very much enjoyed . The Parliament (the changing of the guards every hour) and the National gardens (free) are about a ten minute walk and also a nice place to walk around. The hotel is about a two star, but because of location and rooftop breakfast and cleanliness I would definitely consider staying there again, especially if it is just one or two nights.

great location and staff was nice. not a good place for those who cannot do stairs. 10 step up to the elevator. Staff put luggage on the side with a rail which makes no sense. Rooms were tiny but doable. Shower was a joke. 2 feet by 2 feet. some rooms have a view of the acropolis which is great. Not too noisy at night. walk to lots in Plaka and Parthenon. Breakfast was not great. We went out.

Overall I'd say this is an OK place to stay for one person or possibly a couple. I got a standard room with a double bed so it was a bit small, and the bathroom was small as well. Some of the furniture looked a bit worn and daamged (mainly the desk) but the bed was comfortable and the rooftop area was a plus (with view of the Acropolis). I would probably stay here again if I'm in the area again, and I guess the price reflected what I got, which is pretty good considering this hotel is within walking distance of most key areas of Athens (Acropolis, Monistraki, Plaka, Syntagma Square, etc). It's just the condition and size of the room are the only "issues" for me (there was stuff left under the bed so it doesn't look like it was swept very well for example, and the desk was damaged a bit but other than that, the room was fine. Elevator is very small so if you have a lot of bags or large bags, this can be a challenge as it's kind of like an industrial elevator than a regular elevator you might find elsewhere (it's narrow and small). The stairs are also narrow and small compared to other place I've stayed in Europe. But the breakfast and the Acropolis views did make it more worth it (plus it's location within Athens).

I'm not picky about hotels as I usually use them only a nice shower and a good sleep after a busy day. The location was amazing and the view to the Acropolis from the rooftop was perfect! However, our room was not cleaned properly. There was hair on our bedsheets, makeup marks on the duvet cover/blanket. The mattress is really old and smelly, it was yellow! Needing a change asap. The pillows were old and yellow and had a thin pillow sheet with tears and stains on it. The bathroom is tiny and kind of dark. Needing some lights in there. The room was also dark. The good point was that even being in a busy area, the window is new and has a good soundproofing. It had AC, which was good too. Other than the cleaning issue and the lack of lighting... It's an okay hotel for 1 night. The staff was friendly and helpful. The elevator... It's interesting haha.

Excellent location. Short walking distance up the Metropolis to Syntagma Square and short walking distance across to the Plaka area and the Acropolis. The hotel is very clean and staff very pleasant and accommodating. Would definitely stay at this hotel again.

The rooftop breakfast was nice, and staff are friendly. My room was a bit small and outdated, but that didn't bother me much. But the sheets and pillows are stained, and that really needs to be addressed. Even the spare bedsheets in the closet were stained.

Staff was great. Location was good for shopping and restaurants. Parking can be an issue unless you’re lucky. Cleanliness wasn’t the best. The bathroom had a lot of issues. It’s in the middle of a shopping center so we expected noise. We don’t realize the church next to it rang a bell for each hour and on the half hour all day and all night. We were fortunate and had the 5th floor apartment facing the acropolis so that was a win. Overall I would probably look elsewhere next time although the staff was wonderful.

Stayed for one night to catch the flight back home the next day. I’m usually not very picky so this hotel was good for the one night. Rooms are small. Beds/pillows are very comfortable. Elevator very small but that’s expected in Europe. Bathroom wasn’t cleaned to my standards. Found hair in the shower. It’s steps away from Plaka and other sites.

Staff was very nice and the location is great. Rooms are pretty small but do the job. The bathroom will flood and you could see that the shower wasn’t cleaned properly before our arrival as there was a hair stuck in the shower head.

Great location,wonderful view from balcony,clean and modern room,friendly staff. However extremely small room and bathroom.Difficult to have a good nights sleep as the church bell goes every half hour .Could be nice to put mosquito liquid machines to avoid being bitten.

Fantastic location. Right in the heart of all that is Athens. Views from the rooftop breakfast balcony of the Acropolis are the best. Staff are friendly and hospitable. Rooms are a little small but are modernised and the view from our windows screamed Athens. The chiming of the church bells across the road every half hour created a lasting memory of Athens. Definitely recommend this for first time visitors as it is in the middle of Ermou street, Monastiraki and Plaka.

I have never been led astray when relying on Trip Advisor and Expedia reviews until now. I know the cheap rate is tempting, but don’t do it. The pictures are not even remotely close to what the room looked like. The room was absurdly small, but that’s not the worst part. It was so incredibly loud all night, it sounded like our window was open (it wasn’t, it was just poor sound proofing or bad window/door seals). There’s absolutely no sound proofing or insulation between rooms, you can hear it all! There were no advertised pictures of the bathroom for the double room and for good reason. I have never been led astray when relying on Trip Advisor and Expedia reviews until now. I know the cheap rate is tempting, but don’t do it. The pictures are not even remotely close to what the room looked like. The room was absurdly small, but that’s not the worst part. It was so incredibly loud all night, it sounded like our window was open (it wasn’t, it was just poor sound proofing or bad window/door seals). There’s absolutely no sound proofing or insulation between rooms, you can hear it all! There were no advertised pictures of the bathroom for the double room and for good reason. My room was run down and not like the pictures, the hooks in the bathroom repeatedly fell when a towel was hung up, and I could hear every time someone let the elevator door slam no matter the floor they were on. Also I was asked my room number out loud and in front of people every morning when I left (I assume for housekeeping purposes) but as a single woman traveling alone that is very unsafe.

The property is located in a great location about a 15 min walk to the Akropolis, and about 10 min to the Metro 3 to the airport. The rooms are tiny, as is the bathroom, but the shower was modern with good water flow from the top as well as a side spray. We had a very enjoyable dinner at a restaurant just around the corner. Breakfast at the rooftop is a definite highlight as you see the Akropolis. Since we weren't planning on spending a lot of time in the hotel, it didn't matter to us that the room was so tiny. The receptionists were very friendly and helpful. There is a tiny (2 person) elevator that was working well and helpful since my husband had sprained his ankle a few days earlier. About 10 yards from the hotel entrance is a small Maria Callas (the opera singer) museum that we very much enjoyed . The Parliament (the changing of the guards every hour) and the National gardens (free) are about a ten minute walk and also a nice place to walk around. The hotel is about a two star, but because of location and rooftop breakfast and cleanliness I would definitely consider staying there again, especially if it is just one or two nights.

We were staying there for one night, there was a bug on my pillow, when we told the front office, the young guy was very helpful and moved us to another room although it was a hassle to move our luggage. The next morning when we were checking out an older man was at the front desk and when we told him about the bug he became very offensive and disrespectful. We didn’t like his attitude so we canceled the other night stay at the end of the trip. The location is ok but rooms are very old.

The bathroom was tiny and the person at the front desk on arrival was not helpful or attentive. The staff when we left were on the other hand extremely polite and helpful which made up for the first person. Very good location, close to Syntagma Square where you can pick up the X95 bus direct to the airport. The hotel has a rooftop terrace, accessible for all guests 24/7, with views of the Acropolis. Staff are very nice and accommodating. The gentleman who checked us in was very helpful and kind. We were able to check in as early as 10:00 am without any additional fee.

Also, the church nearby has a loud bell that chimes at least once every half hour. It did not bother us much, but it could be something to be aware of. Roof top view of the acropolis was great, and having a balcony in the area was lovely for relaxing when we arrived and after running all over Athens. We would likely stay here again!

Fantastic location. Right in the heart of all that is Athens. Views from the rooftop breakfast balcony of the Acropolis are the best. Staff are friendly and hospitable. Rooms are a little small but are modernised and the view from our windows screamed Athens. The chiming of the church bells across the road every half hour created a lasting memory of Athens. Definitely recommend this for first time visitors as it is in the middle of Ermou street, Monastiraki and Plaka.

The staff was am courteous and helpful. The hotel is in a great location and a reasonable price. The room was clean and had a long balcony although it was not wide. Breakfast is available on the rooftop terrace for an additional fee and it was plenty to eat including eggs made to order. The only downside to this hotel is that you need to carry your luggage up about 8 steps before you can get to the elevator. But otherwise, it was great and we would definitely stay there again!!

Affordable, very clean room with a small balcony with a great view of the Acropolis. Hotel staff was friendly and very helpful talking to the airlines about returning my lost luggage! Breakfast on the terrace was delicious and only 8 euros with a clear view of the Acropolis and Greek church. Plenty of restaurants and shops to walk to. I’m happy I stayed here!

I really enjoyed my stay. The room is small and basic but I had a nice terrace with a view of the Acropolis which was fantastic, and the room was very clean and always freshened daily. The staff was friendly and helpful. I wasn’t impressed with the breakfast but I prefer going out anyway so I didn’t partake more than once. I would definitely return especially if I could get the same room 32 for the same price.

Avoid this hotel. Mold was visible in multiple areas of the property, and the overall cleanliness was extremely poor. The conditions raised serious health and safety concerns. This was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had, and I believe Expedia should investigate whether this property meets basic standards for listing on its platform. I would not recommend staying here.
