The Martello Hotel

Parking can be a bit hard at times as hotel has no car park.Food is very good in the hotel especially breakfast.The staff are very friendly and service is very quick.

Amazing location, awesome bar and restaurant, A++ service at check in. We were 10 minutes from last call for food so the reception host sent us directly into the restaurant to order quick before we finished checking in. So awesome. Food was great, service was great. The inside bar area was huge and full of people playing trivia with a DJ type of host. Great energy. The only negative was the room. We had the apartment style which was kind of behind the main hotel. It was pretty old and outdated and not super comfortable. It wasn't gross, but not super clean either. It was fine for one night. Overall the hotel was great, the room just wasn't.

If you need parking, book elsewhere. We drove around the area for 30 mins looking for street parking. The bowling alley a few blocks away has paid parking but this is not specified in the listing. We also had to walk through a busy restaurant with our suitcases and bags just to check in, and then had to walk back through the restaurant and down the street and around the corner just to access our room. The room doors slam loudly. The room had black scuff marks all over the walls. Wasn’t worth the money.

There's no elevator and no parking. We arrived on a weekend and is very popular for locals and had to park blocks away. The room is small but modern and had some issues with no telephone service and air conditioning was needing repairs. It was difficult with carrying luggage and items to the 2nd floor which is the lowest floor for rooms while the other rooms were on the third floor. If younger, this is the place for you but if older and unless you're in great shape and don't mind being without parking or an elevator this is not the place. The woman at the front desk helped us with our luggage but I felt that it was somewhat overwhelming for me. The shower and bed were adequate but the lack of parking with the threat of a major parking fine in the morning and lack of elevator made it unpleasant. We stayed in the hotel but there are apartments behind the hotel that do offer an elevator. The location is near the water and probably fun for people who have no physical limitations. It was stressful for me because it was difficult to double park in front of the hotel unload the luggage while my friend found a place to park a few blocks away. The staff and manager were responsive, it was clean and reasonably priced but would never put myself in that situation again. I am usually very careful when reserving hotel rooms but somehow missed the lack of an elevator. It does advertise parking but its on the street if you can find a space.

Excellent property with many dining and drinking options. The tomato soup and the carrot soup were amazing! The room was rather small and we had trouble figuring out how to turn on power for some of the outlets.

Nice hotel, gets quite loud until about 3am since they regularly have live music in the bar. Good place to stay off you plan on attending pub life, but for a good night sleep, I'd pick another hotel.

This place is just beautiful. Ocean views. Well located. Easy access to train and buses to go directly to Dublin. Street parking was easy. The bars in the hotel are very lively on the weekends but that’s fun too.

If you’re a light sleeper, I wouldn’t stay here Friday/Saturday as they do have loud club music until nearly 3am. Other than that though, during the week, a very lovely place.

Restaurant and bar - very good food and service. Elevator location most inconvenient - having to go outside to the service alley, then inside for the elevator. Awful and women felt unsafe. Entry door here was never locked and anyone could gain access day or night. Two staircases to guest rooms very difficult to move luggage. No people to help carry luggage. No parking. No drop off/pick up area for guests wanting to leave property.

Whole place was very clean. The staff were exceptional and the food was absolutely lovely

Stayed this past weekend with my partner and 7 month old baby girl. We ended up with an apartment style room in the adjoining building, which on paper suited us well. The hotel looks like they're carrying out building work. The rubbish from these works was spilling out from a side entrance and a skip both of which greated us every time we entered and exited the apartment building. The security door at the entrance to the apartment building wasn't working correctly and was often unlocked. We initially thought our apartment was great but that subsided quickly. It was very stuffy and warm and with no airflow. Coupled with dusty fixtures and fittings it made for an uncomfortable environment. We've all come back home with coughs and sniffs. Despite the the disappointing room and exit/entrance area the service from the staff and food in the bar was excellent. We had breakfast both mornings in the bar and it was brilliant. The coffee was also top notch.

Property needed maintenance. Apartments on back side of hotel were in need and f upgraded carpeting, paint..,

Location was ok in the middle of the beach area. Carpet was so dirty looking. Not very updated. Room was nice and comfortable bed, but Room 108 was terrible. Staff working and banging things until after 1:00 am. No lift for seniors to get their bags up several flights of stairs.

the staff were excellant the room was very tired and spare bed had a stained mattress An alternative was offered but did not suit so lovely receptionist comp’d breakfast The sea view was lovely shower pressure fabulous and towels very soft overall satisfied

Staff very accommodating & room spotless

Located right across the beach and ocean! Wonderful stay. The room was beautiful and clean. Bed super comfy. Would highly recommend to anyone staying in Bray.

On the upside the staff are amazing, the food is decent, the drinks choices are good, the location is on the seafront and near to the DART train into Dublin and it is a lovely place plus the wifi is good and the room aircon excellent. On the downside our room always smelled of cooking oil. I think it needs to be changed more regularly guys! And you do need ear plugs if you want to sleep before 3am on a Friday or Saturday as the bands and disco keep going all night!

Very noisey...the dart railway is very close to hotel and runs most of the time... We were in 324 so had the side entrance below our window..deliveries and builders working from an early hours.

First two nights of my stay were fine, the last night, Friday,was spoilt by the noise from a night club that went on until 3am. It was absolutely impossible to sleep.

Room 204 was very spacious with a view overlooking the beach. The bed was extremely comfortable and the linens top quality. We ate in the restaurant and the food and service were both excellent.

The entrance is through a big beer garden with a lot of people eating and drinking. As we were staying on 1st floor we could enter through a side street, which was good, but each time someone came or left through that door it slammed shut with a lot of noise, so it was a good thing I had ear-plugs else I would not have slept at all.

The rooms are small, the bathroom is even smaller and not super clean. Just old feeling.

It was a cute room and fairly clean. The food was good and staff was friendly. We were warned there was a live band on Friday nights but were not prepared for how loud the base would be in our room. extremely loud in our room even with ear plugs. It sounded like we were right above the kitchen as there was constant banging around day and night.

Staff was helpful and kind. The Martello is THE place to stay in Bray!

Horrible stay. Was excited to stay at this location for the last night of our 7 day trip to Ireland. Instead we were met with a not friendly/ rude check in person. We had 2 large heavy suitcases and instead of telling us to go to the outside of the building on the side to go directly to our room. She watched us carry our luggage up 2 flights of stairs and then down 2 flights to get to our room. When we went to bed in our room, one side of our bed was broken. The nights sleep was awful. The next morning…. We had breakfast included with our booking through Expedia which was part of the amenities included. After waiting for 20 minutes to order food, the waitress said there was a problem with our room number to receive credits for the breakfast. Went to the front desk and again was met with no help and rude person. She said they don’t offer breakfast through Expedia… I showed her my phone that said the breakfast was part of the included amenities and she said no that was wrong and with an attitude showed me our paper invoice….. that did not have breakfast on it. I said I understand that but my booking included breakfast. She rudely said no. Horrible experience…. I would avoid staying here like the plague. Room was also dirty.

Staff amazing and food always delicious and accommodating to my asks for certain food. The first room was so helpful to me so I wouldn’t have stairs to my room however this room on the first floor was noisy from trash and metal beer barrels being moved around outside my bedroom window and no one could fix the heat problem. They moved me to another room with beautiful views and nice amenities and the trip finished on a wonderful note. I recommend this Hotel wholeheartedly. They care about their guests.

When I tried to buy a drink at the bar at 19:45 on the Sunday, I was refused "because we don't serve walk-ins after 7:00" despite the fact that the bar was open and I proved that I was a resident. The reason given was that they need to clean the bar for the following Friday!. They were serving locals.

Lovely hotel on Bray seafront; easy access to train and good walks. Hotel seemed like the hub of the town and staff were helpful polite and friendly.

Great food, Rooms just right, choice of venues, staff most welcoming and absolutely friendly. Professions run. Our second time here within four weeks. Love this place

Lovely location on the sea front. Warm and friendly staff. Good food and drink at very reasonable prices. Nice vibe and ambience. Boutique style hotel with various styles and themes of decor. Highly recommend

Awesome hotel with good f&b facilities and options. Lack of on-site parking is a little inconvenient if you are driving. We had food and drinks everything was pretty good except the chowder was rather poorly done. We spoke to the manager who was apologetic about it.

I don't usually write reviews but I loved my stay at the Martello so much. Check in was easy and the staff was lovely. Parking was very easy and not far at all -- I was also able to find parking easily both nights I stayed there. The restaurant at Martello was incredible too -- I had the best short rib I've ever had and was so happy with everything from start to finish. 10/10 reccomend!!

The restaurant was amazing. The curry was delicious, and the Wicklow Wolf Craft Beer Battered Cod was sensational! The hotel was very comfortable, and right on the seafront! I would highly recommend this hotel.

Staff very friendly; room very spacious; great choice where to eat/Drink. Unfortunately the Restaurant was closed during the week.
