Charming historic hotel. Very friendly staff. Excellent bar downstairs with much more than the usual bar food. Been here numerous times and always enjoyed it immensely!

This historical property has lots of potential to become something excellent, it does have a ways to go. Our room was very spacious, and it was nice. The Grill had limited dinner choices, luckily my husband and I we happy with what they offered which turned out to be a great dinner for us. I would stay here again.

Built over 100 years ago, the Inn felt like we were stepping back in time. Modern conveniences of WiFi and TVs worked well. Quiet, clean room with a very comfortable bed. Continental breakfast included and the coffee was great. We sat on the porch in the evening and relaxed by a fire pit - the whole experience was charming and relaxing. Cost was reasonable too.

So, I want to give the management a little bit of grace. The current state that the Belmont is in, is the worst I've ever seen it. However, I've come to know that the ownership has changed. They were very kind and I hope they can turn this place around. We last stayed here about 8-9 years ago and since then, I've seen major degradation. The room was stayed in had loads wrong with it. The heater was small but finally heated the room after a few hours. The bathroom had mold, the sink was clogged, and the toilet seat was run down from wear. The paint on the ceiling and walls needed a new coat but you can see there has been some ceiling repairs. Fire code wise, I don't think you can have the power strips like they had it. The furniture needs replacement or restoration badly. It's cool to be in such a historic place with vintage furniture, but they need to be repaired. It was nice to have the bar downstairs. They have continental breakfast but that could be improved. We were in room #5 so I would avoid that room until you're told it's been completely renovated it. I don't mean to be negative but it was pretty bad. We stayed anyways because we felt we could bare it because it was only for our night stays as we visited with family. Elevator DID work, needs some renovation too. Overall, I hope they can turn this around... I would give it a 4/10. Not a ton of options in Abbeville anyways.

I am handicapped and my wife and I are in our 70s. There was no handicapped parking. so we had to walk from the parking lot next door up the stairs between in the rain. The small room was on the 3rd floor (they called it the 2nd, with check-in being the ground floor) The elevator was working when we checked in but in the morning it wasn't and we had to walk down two flights of very steep stairs, bringing our luggage clinging to the banister the whole way. There was only one chair in the room, an armchair in the corner useless for much of anything. Light came from a table lamp and a floor lamp with 40 watt bulbs. There was no desk area and no clock. There was a pod type coffee maker but no pods, creamer or sugar and only one paper coffee cup with only one plastic glass in the bathroom. The 32 inch TV sat about two feet from the end of the bed. There was no counter space in the bathroom and the "refrigerator" was nothing but a small commercial drink cooler with a dirty top. Any problems we brought up were simply met with "Sorry".

Quaint, however badly needs an update. Wall unit air conditioner was noisy and ran all night. Easy parking. Slept well

This well-maintained historic Inn is located on the edge of the town square. The staff were friendly and helpful. Upon check-in, I enjoyed sipping my complimentary drink on the veranda, overlooking the well-lit and festively decorated downtown area at sunset. I then enjoyed walking the square and checking out one of the many local restaurants. Although I chose a standard basic room, there are a variety of room options for just a few dollars more. I also enjoyed my morning simple buffet-style breakfast in the hotel before heading out for the day.

I would have loved to have a balcony that was not closed for maintenance. Overall my stay was good. Thanks

The breakfast was disappointing. Eggo waffles in a plastic bag and bagels in a plastic bag. We ended up going into town to eat. There was a dead palmetto bug in our room along with the ac not working. Turn the water on the morning we left and it was brown colored. You can hear every little thing in the bedroom. Someone dropped a bowl assume it was where our bagged waffles were at 7 am. Overall not happy. You have to track someone down there isn’t always someone at the front desk.

Room not clean. Bed sheets not changed, hair on sheets , in the bathroom etc

My sheet was stained no fridge no phone and no microwave. Only a tiny ceramic heater and a window air conditioner. The tub had what looked to be black mold. There were multiple extension chords everywhere. The hair dryer looked like it was about to fall apart. Please go check out room 16. It was also not the room I booked! I’m not sure why their rating is so high. Do they pay for that??? I have NEVER seen a room this bad. I stayed the first night because of the non-refundable but forfeited my 2nd night. Just couldn’t stay there another night. I suggest hotels.com might want to do their own surprise visit. I will be escalating this to try and recoup some of my money. $200 a night???? I would have been better in a roadside travel inn. The Fairfield inn in greenwood was less and beautiful and CLEAN!

When we walked into our room, there was a dead cockroach on the floor beside our bed. The A/C unit hadn’t been turned on yet either so it was super hot, however he made us aware of this when we arrived and we just turned it on once we got to our room. The bathroom didn’t look super clean, but was clean enough. On the other hand, the beds were super comfortable and the A/C unit cooled the room down pretty quickly to make it comfortable. Overall, probably wouldn’t stay here again unless we absolutely had to.

Staff has no hospitality. Rooms mouldy, broken, full of bugs. Late party, extremely loud,1-4 am kept all residents up and innkeeper didnt care. Absolutely horrified that i had to experience this place.

We love the hotel, decor and staff. The room we were in was # 8. The bed was extremely uncomfortable, the bathroom had mold in the tub and celing above the bathtub. When taking a shower, the water did not drain out so we stood in ankle deep water. We could hear every step the person above us took, which was a lot. The lighting was very dim throughout the hotel. The breakfast was good, the staff was extremely nice. we would not stay there again unless the beds were updated, repairs done and if we were on the top floor so we couldn't hear the people above. The hotel is old, and that is part of the charm, which we liked, but needs updated rooms and bathroom.

I was extremely disappointed with my stay at the Belmont. My husband and I were visiting Abbeville for a funeral on Saturday, Nov 23. The Belmont was a recommendation of my girlfriend. I didn’t get to the room until 11:30 that night. I went to take a shower and discovered a disgusting shower with mold & mildew. I couldn’t even take a proper shower because the tub was clogged, and my feet were covered with water. I was too tired to complain. When I checked out, there was no one at the front desk to complain to. Just a box to put the key in. Room #23 This hotel is in need of improvements and repairs. I do not recommend and will never stay again.

Cute historic hotel but in need of a lot of renovations. Staff was pleasant. Our room was clean but the bathroom was riddled with mold, cracked linoleum and sink.

This property was so nice and clean. The staff were incredibly kind and just went the extra mile to make sure our stay was perfect. From the front desk to the restaurant to the owner they all made us feel like family. We will for sure be staying here again in the future. Belmont Inn is now our go to for this area.

A great historical building with a lot of history. I’d you are looking for modern, sleek this is not the place for you. I loved the unique qualities of the inn.

Very historic building. Beds are great. Perfect for what we needed.

Great location on the square. Price doesn’t match the condition of the rooms. It’s a 1903 hotel, but mold in the shower, water stains on ceiling in the bathroom, so a prior leak somewhere. Room furnishings were sort of a 1940s style. Our bed headboard was propped up with wooden blocks. Wooden floors in the room, but cheesy laminate in other areas of hotel and bathroom. Service was top notch in the bar/restaurant and breakfast area and cleaning crew. Upgrading the rooms with new fixtures, furniture, outlet/switch covers, etc. desperately needed.

The Belmont is a charming older hotel, that reminds me of a Victorian beauty. Most importantly, the bed was VERY comfortable. The towels were soft and inviting, and the bed and bathroom quite clean. As an older building, the walls are thin and we could hear our neighbor’s TV, but it was quiet at night. Breakfast was adequate. There was no in room refrigerator or microwave. The staff were just lovely and were very welcoming and helpful.

The room given to us was nothing like the room pictured on their website. Window air conditioner was so loud you could not hear the tv at all when it was running. The volume control on the tv did not work (? Intentionally) so tv watching was a bust. The room was exceptionally small and uninviting, totally out of character for the rest of the hotel.

Very nice layout of inn. It is within walking distance of shopping and eating. Walls and ceilings are paper thin. You can hear everything. Beds were rickety, they always made noise when you moved. No microwave or fridge. All dim lights throughout inn. So, it is a little dark. Could use a little updating.

Nice downtown property for a small community. Property was clean and staff friendly. Our room was small and didn't meet our expectations! Booked well ahead of time, No closet, no luggage rack, twin beds opposed to queens we thought we were getting. Shower was great, good hot water and plenty of pressure. TV cable issues while we were there, which is not the hotels fault. Stayed in rooms previously that were nicer! I'd just not recommend staying in room 21, poor room, I'd avoid this one!

Arrived in lobby at 9pm with five bags, only to be told there were no beds and that my reservation had been cancelled. I will remove my one-star rating when either Expedia or the Belmont refunds the $418.25 credit card charge.

The staff was amazing. Friendly and very helpful. Jim the owner was on site and is a delight. Very helpful with local options for dining and the like.

It was very nice getting that down home Southern Hospitality. Shelia and Donna were the best in making sure that my visit was the best ever. Even met the owner Ray who was just a hospitable as the rest of the team. I will go back again,

I stayed there to keep from having to travel along distance after playing the organ at two churches in the area for services. It was everything I needed. The customer service could not have been any better. They were very nice and met all of my needs. I plan to stay there again for longer so that I can enjoy some of the other amenities that they have.

The building is circa 1903 and it's really an amazing place. We were there at Christmastime and all of the decorations were tasteful and fantastic. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the town around the hotel is adorable! We highly recommend this inn.

Very convenient location. Rustic style building. Didn't like squeaky floors.

It was tough to get past the smell of the elevator and the room. Our comforter had a big hole in it although appeared to be clean. There were many things that were in poor condition and could be replaced including the hair dryer, tiles missing in shower etc. The town seems to be struggling bff a bit and several of the food establishments closing or reducing their services. Would be better off staying in one of the bigger towns nearby.

The information in the room stated the restaurant was open Tuesday through Thursday 5-9 pm it wasn't. No coffee. Slim pickings for breakfast restaurants.

It was wonderful. The only thing I did not like is there was no iron, coffee pot or small fridge in the room. Coffee was served in morning with breakfast and was very good but i am an early riser and they did not serve till 7. So without fridge or coffee pot in the room i had to wait. Otherwise this place is amazing, beautiful and the restaurant and bar downstairs had fantastic food and bar for evening.

The photos are the highlight of this property. When we arrived, we were stunned at the condition of the property. There is water damage all throughout the property, including the rooms. The property was not well lit at all and difficult to find, add that to the fact that when we walked in there was pretty much nobody around. They said that the morning continental breakfast would be ready at 7 AM. We were downstairs by 7:15 and everything was still completely shut down with lights off. This was what in my family we call “and experience“

It was a very historic hotel the Ground floor is the first 2nd floor was The first Floor and the last was 2nd floor which was the 3rd floor. For the overnight guests the continental breakfast is do your own thing but not a major thing except coffee and bread products and fruit . The desperately need to hire a cook here

A quaint, historic hotel that is somewhat tired. Bed was comfortable but pillows were awful. High scores for service and cleanliness. Breakfast was disappointing. Nothing but cold food.
