I have stayed a number of times in this hotel and really like the vibe here but this time it was not so good. It got off to a bad start when receptionist said they do not recognise Hotels.com (Expedia) Gold VIP members, even though it states very clearly on Hotels.com that they do!! Even when I tried to show them this they said they do not work with Hotels.com Gold / VIP. Very frustrating start to the visit (I do think Hotels.com / Expedia also need to communicate better with their hotels that if they give them this status that they need to notify ALL their staff - but even when I was leaving, another staff member still told me they do not have any Gold / VIP arrangement with Hotels.com / Expedia, when I was just trying to give feedback before I left. He said there was no point asking to see the manager as he also will not know!!). As always, it was nice around the pool and I was really lucky with unexpected sunny weather. Room very clean, as always, bed comfortable and breakfast generous and fresh. However, as always, the coffee in the bar / terrace is terrible, the windows on the street side are filthy and now they are also charging to use the tiny sauna and plunge pool! Drinks service around the pool was also slower this year, even though it was not as busy as I've seen it before. There was also a bad smell in the elevators. I've always rated it five out of five on every previous visit, but this year just not so good, sadly, but would still recommend overall.
