I was really impressed with the facilities in my room. As well as an ensuite shower room, the wardrobe contained a fridge with freezer compartment, microwave, kettle, kitchen sink, cutlery and crockery. The only downside was that I couldn't turn the heated towel rail off, so the room was a bit warmer than I would have liked.

Large ground floor Club room at front of the building, parking area outside large windows was noisy plus 24/7 lights from busy main road. Close to reception. Room a bit shabby but airy and warm from easily controlled radiators. Comfortable clean beds. Very small shower and toilet - could do with updating. Toilet seat was loose, needs repair, could be hazardous for older person like me. Reception staff were very helpful and friendly on aŕrival, showed me a couple of rooms but the lift was not working so couldn't look upstairs. Buffet breakfast choices excellent, cereals, fruits, yoghurt, toast etc.juices, tea, coffee, oatmilk. Full English 😋 freshly cooked.

Brilliant place to stay for family of 4 adults! Even had a microwave and fridge in the room, and plates and bowls and cutlery. Wasn’t expecting that! Really good value for money with 3 proper beds (not sofa beds)! Would definitely recommend. Really friendly guy checked us in.

Cleanliness was very good. This hotel is dated and seems to be a base for builders and other tradesmen. The beds were very comfortable and a family room of a double and two proper single beds was welcome rather than converted sofa bed that is usually how family rooms are constructed. There was a wall mounted fan but this was not enough in our current hot spell of weather but we had additional fans in the car so didn't ask for more fans from staff. Continental breakfast is buffet style but cooked breakfast needed to be ordered. However, cooked breakfast was very tasty. Orange juice was awful, tasting like the cheapest watered down variety. One young woman was running breakfast, she was excellent in every way. Dining room was very dated, the chairs were stained and looked very worn out. Rooms have a normal sized fridge (not a hotel sized fridge) and microwave which was very useful. WIFI was free and worked well. Parking was also free. Surprised that when I returned my key cards to reception, they didn't ask how our stay was. Fine accommodation for an overnight stay.

Let me start off by saying that I understand England is not the US. I've stayed at hotels in many countries. This hotel has a few things going for it, the biggest being that it is about a 15 minute walk from the downtown area and train. However, lack of maintenance and service quality renders this hotel as unsatisfactory. No AC is a major issue in the summer, don't listen to what folks say about not needing it. The gym is unusable. I would not return to this hotel, or England for that matter, without AC.

Ultimately you get what you pay for. I stayed in room 200. The room was clean and the bed comfortable but overall the decor was dated. Not a problem for me as I was only staying 1 night. One think it is lacking is a bedside table which was annoying but not a major issue. This is an excellent location if you are visiting your child at Reading University (as I was) because it is a 15 minute walk, or 5 minute drive away. There are all the amenities you need. Kettle, fridge, microwave, plates, bowls, cutlery and a hairdryer. I didnt have the breakfast so I can't comment on that.

Small room. Cosy some would say. Own private bathroom, tv. Microwave, fridge. Everything you need. (All in one small space though) Very quiet always a plus. Didn't eat here, I was away before breakfast 7am. Smallest gym in the world, no weights. Only one machine to work out on. Glad no-one else was in the gym as I only booked for the gym.

We stayed in Room 410. The carpet looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a week. The bathroom sink was also dirty. We have stayed in this hotel several times and this will be the last time as the room was unclean.

Staff were really friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good. Bed was clean and comfy. Free WiFi. In our room, everything that you would expect to be cleaned daily was cleaned to an decent standard but bit of mildew and whole thing could do with some TLC in terms of condition of building interior, fixings, fresh air and deep clean.

Overall wonderful experience, all staff I encountered were courteous and helpful. Room was clean and fresh, bed comfortable and all linens smelled delightful! Located on a bus route, easy walk into town Centre, various shops/eateries a few minutes walk away from hotel. I will definitely stay there again.

I can’t express how disappointed I am with this booking, whilst trying to check in the receptionist couldn’t find our booking, so had to get a senior member to come and check, upon checking Sebastian confirmed no booking through Expedia even though we had receipts. This hotel was also paid upfront. He was aggressive and shouting how it’s our problem that this was booked via a third party and not direct with the hotel and said we would need to pay again. It was the middle of the night 3 young woman by themselves being shouted at by a senior member of staff, after contacting Expedia who were extremely helpful, they tried to ring the hotel twice but Sebastian would not take the call. After a huge fuss he then decided we could have our room that we paid for in the end. The room was GROTTY. We found a huge spider and whilst moving the bedding bugs crawled out. Needless to say we would never return to this hotel even if we were paid to. Stay clear

Run down rooms in need of a good clean and refresh. Very small room with tiny bathroom. The bed looked like the corners had been chewed by a dog! Breakfast was OK and the staff were pleasant but for the price I paid for a nights stay I would expect a much better standard of accomodation.

Hair from last people who stayed, still in plughole. Must have had a haircut the amount in there !! Bathroom VERY small, step sideways in to bathroom, cant turn around.Showerhead leaked everywhere. Loved there was a fridge & microwave in room

Charged £243 so assumed it would be high end accommodation but was more like student digs/a hostel and would have found £100 too expensive. The hotel and room was very tired, grubby and felt dirty. The windows were very difficult to open and the bathroom was so old, having a shower the nob came off so couldn’t switch it off. The walls were filthy and the whole suite needs completely ripping out and replacing. I feel like I’ve been charged the rate of a high end London hotel for an awful experience … so disappointed and feeling robbed

The bedroom smelt of food because of the bathroom vents. Bedroom was small and paint was pealing off the walls in the bedroom and bathroom. Bathroom tiles where also damaged. Carpet had were ripped. I asked reception staff if i could change room because of the condition i was advise that the Hotel was full. when i had breakfast i was advised it was a quite day. Breakfast the sussage and hash browns were burn. worst hotel i have ever stayed in never again.

The staff are excellent. Beds are comfortable. But there is no double glazing and the decor in the rooms is very 1980s. I actually laughed out loud when I walked into the bathroom. The room was noisy and hot. It was difficult to sleep with the window open because of the road noise. Breakfast was only ok. But hotel is very convenient for walking to the university and the free parking was an added bonus.

It was okay for a couple of hours, I was in Oxfordshire filming, I arrived late, the receptionist was okay, room was small and contained, VERY hot in the room, luckily it had a fan. I was back up and on my way at 6:00am, No breakfast provided but coffee and tea was available in my room.

Very,very, very basic for a „best western“ group member. No aircondition (at least 35C in the rooms). Opening of windows brought not really relieve…rooms are very basic equipped. Staff is friendly and helpful , nevertheless „no have, no can“

This is a pretty run down place with rotten windows, cheap toiletries and drinks. The staff are friendly and the rooms clean with the highest water pressure I've ever known. Breakfast offered a good choice. There was a fridge and microwave in the room which was unexpected and they offered a reasonably priced set of simple meals. I think there a probably a lot of workmen stay here.

The room I was originally in 810 was some distance away from the main building, I was in a top room that had rotten wooden windows and a gap between the wood and the glass. There was a musty smell and was in need of decorating and a fresh up. The second room 214 in the main building was ok, very small but as it was only for 1 night it did the job. Had to go back to receiption as key card did not work the first time. "Bar meals" consisted of chilli con carne or a choice of 6 different curries. Two gents on reception where helpful and friendly when I asked to move room. Would not stay there again.

I was given a key to a room with someone in it, I woke the person up opening the door. I felt so let down I did not stay and left the hotel, taking my children on the 6.5 hour drive home as I did not want to stay in the hotel. I would like a full refund due to the above.

Fantastic stay! Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and clean. The breakfast was good. The area was safe. In good walking distance to University of Reading. Will stay there again!

Reasonable for Reading, while basic in decor it is what you can expect for the price, the staff are all really friendly and helpful to a fault. Always stay here as it represents value in my opinion, great parking and easy access to the town. 20 mins to the centre.

I chose this location primarily for its close proximity to my daughter's dormitory, making it an ideal choice for convenience. Overall wonderful experience, all staff I encountered were courteous and helpful. Room was clean and fresh, bed comfortable and all linens smelled delightful! Located on a bus route, easy walk into town Centre, various shops/eateries a few minutes walk away from hotel. I will definitely stay there again.

The hotel is split into 4 buildings, we were in one with what seemed to be studios (microwave and fridge). The room was fine, but quite tired. The bathroom was run down and the shower needed fixing (raw edges of tiles, missing sealant). There were not enough charging points in the room and the furniture was old. Felt like a student dorm room. The main hotel lounge area was also run down with no plug sockets and peeling wallpaper. On arrival we were asked if the booking was in a different name (no I only have one name), then told we’d cancelled the booking (we hadn’t) and then finally told we did have a booking. It was basically chaos and we were told ‘not to look so worried’. The shuttle they arranged to and from the festival was helpful though.

I can’t express how disappointed I am with this booking, whilst trying to check in the receptionist couldn’t find our booking, so had to get a senior member to come and check, upon checking Sebastian confirmed no booking through Expedia even though we had receipts. This hotel was also paid upfront. He was aggressive and shouting how it’s our problem that this was booked via a third party and not direct with the hotel and said we would need to pay again. It was the middle of the night 3 young woman by themselves being shouted at by a senior member of staff, after contacting Expedia who were extremely helpful, they tried to ring the hotel twice but Sebastian would not take the call. After a huge fuss he then decided we could have our room that we paid for in the end. The room was GROTTY. We found a huge spider and whilst moving the bedding bugs crawled out. Needless to say we would never return to this hotel even if we were paid to. Stay clear

Great location for central Reading fast , 15/20mibs to Station via frequent bus service that stops close by . Couple of nights fine if you are at party/ wedding locally or use as a base to visit London - 25 mins to Paddington. Room / Price fair , bathroom small but quite new and clean, fridge, microwave fine . Safety box in the room . Outside of the hotel is tired and annex entrance could do with tidying up - weeds growing on steps , lots of cigarette ends , litter in garden We did not use the breakfast on offer so canno comment on this

I stay her every time I come to Reading, warm and friendly reception. The rooms are clean and warm with good facilities. The Oracle shopping centre is only a 15-20 minute walk away, but there are also plenty of local shops just around the corner

Detail is in the title really. It’s convenient, city centre location with ample free parking. Walking distance to city centre, uni campus and the train station. If you’re looking for cheerful, wallet friendly accommodation this is ideal. No frills but shouldn’t be expected at the price point. I stayed with my two nearly adult daughters in a room for three. Tight fit but we’re close :)

This was pretty much a perfect overnight stay. The property was very easy to locate with plenty of parking and I was able to park very close to where I was staying. Staff was very polite and courteous when booking me in and showing me to my room. I have never walked in a hotel room to be greeted with such a clean and fresh smell and when I went out to get something to eat later that evening, when I returned the smell was as good as the first time. The room décor was smart and had everything I needed including a lovely compact kitchen with a fridge for my drinks. It was really nice and quiet and afforded a great night's sleep on a very comfy bed. Breakfast was served promptly to allow me to get on with my day and was really tasty. I would love to stay here again in the future.

Ultimately you get what you pay for. I stayed in room 200. The room was clean and the bed comfortable but overall the decor was dated. Not a problem for me as I was only staying 1 night. One think it is lacking is a bedside table which was annoying but not a major issue. This is an excellent location if you are visiting your child at Reading University (as I was) because it is a 15 minute walk, or 5 minute drive away. There are all the amenities you need. Kettle, fridge, microwave, plates, bowls, cutlery and a hairdryer. I didnt have the breakfast so I can't comment on that.

This is a budget hotel and is a good example of that. The small room was fine for the price. The double bed was very comfortable and we got a good nights sleep. The breakfast was really good. So for the price you pay it is what is expected. Unfortunately, there is one downside, the staff need to be more welcoming. Over the two nights we stayed not once did anyone show any enthusiasm or welcome us with a good morning and a smile. When we arrived back after a day out, no one smiled and asked if we had a good day. On check out we weren’t asked if we had enjoyed our stay. When we arrived for breakfast the first morning, I thought the man serving us was a maintenance worker. No uniform, he wore jeans, trainers and a fleece. When you arrive for breakfast you were not taken to a table, you were not explained how breakfast worked and again no enthusiasm. It is a shame as these are basic things that could be so easily rectified.

Loved the architecture of this place. It is old so has its issues, but the rooms i was in were newly remodeled. The first room had some plumbing issues I brought to their attention immediately but it was Christmas and the next day way Boxing day so told them I understood if someone wasn't available right away but I never saw or heard from anyone and by the third day the issue spread from just the bathroom sink to all drains. So i had to bug them again and they had me move to a new room and gave me free breakfastvouchers for the remainder of my stay. I moved into the new room and didnt end up staying there that night and came back to the heater dripped water and soaked one of my shoes, it was the newest remodeled room but obviously still working out some issues. They offered to move me rooms again and i declined. The heater was working and i was able to dry my shoe on the bathroom heater by the time i was leaving. Staff was always very nice and attempted to keep making my stay a good one. I only used 1 of the 3 breakfast vouchers but the food was great and lots of fresh stuff at the buffet part of the breakfast.

Breakfast was terrible. Rooms, floors and overall hotel was dirty and almost falling apart. Dont be fooled by the nice facade. Rooms are small and dark. Blinds and Windows didn't work properly. Continental Breakfast is on a first come first served basis. Everything is plastic packed stuff and coffee is not prepared fresh. Staff is nice but rarely present. Cooked breakfast isn't worth it.

Large ground floor Club room at front of the building, parking area outside large windows was noisy plus 24/7 lights from busy main road. Close to reception. Room a bit shabby but airy and warm from easily controlled radiators. Comfortable clean beds. Very small shower and toilet - could do with updating. Toilet seat was loose, needs repair, could be hazardous for older person like me. Reception staff were very helpful and friendly on aŕrival, showed me a couple of rooms but the lift was not working so couldn't look upstairs. Buffet breakfast choices excellent, cereals, fruits, yoghurt, toast etc.juices, tea, coffee, oatmilk. Full English 😋 freshly cooked.

Hotel feels very dated. I stayed in the small building at the rear of the hotel. The entrance to this building was grubby. Room had microwave and small sink and feidge which was great as restaurant options were very limited. Breakfast was good and nicely cooked. Not great but not terrible

I stayed in room 805 and the carpet was filthy. The room had a musky smell, I had to wedge the window open with a cup to let fresh air into the room and then spray it with deodorant. It appears that the building may at one time been a house which has been converted into accommodation but not very well I would however, mention that the staff were fine and the breakfast okay.

honestly the worst hotel i have stayed at. Utterly filthy, rooms were terrible and had the foulest dampest smell. £180 per night! unbelievable. stains all over the floors, some of them look like human liquids. scrap metal outside the windows (which don’t open).
honestly the worst hotel i have stayed at. Utterly filthy, rooms were terrible and had the foulest dampest smell. £180 per night! unbelievable. stains all over the floors, some of them look like human liquids. scrap metal outside the windows (which don’t open).

The staff were very professional and welcoming. There is plenty of free self parking both in front of and behind the hotel. The room and bathroom were clean. My room had a microwave & fridge with plates & cutlery as well as a kettle with tea & coffee. I would recommend this hotel & if in the area I will use it again.
