Hermosa Hotel

A perfectly located hotel that shows its age but has been well cared for. Great to have luggage storage for arrivals before check in and departures after check out times. Cabins have kitchens with a cooktop, good-sized refrigerator, and microwave. No coffee maker but its available in the lobby most of the time. They also smallish bathrooms and stairs, more than 20 to climb if you get one of the cabins at the top. Staff did great but were overwhelmed, at times, attempting to respond to all the requests received. The street can be very crowded with noisy and smelly carts since it leads to the intersection at the end of the pedestrians only portion of Crescent Avenue, but our rooms was quiet. Shops and dining options are very close and easily walkable. We brought our own bikes and there was limited room at the hotel to park them which was constantly full. Other options were close by.

No closet, no hangers, only one nightstand, no place for soap bar in the shower, the shower comes out with a trickle and is very hard to turn on. There is a hot plate, but no dishes, no pots or pans! The great lobby bar that was touted in their website was never open. The ice maker was broken.

They have coffee and water available. Also towels for the beach. Easy to walk everywhere.

Clean nice hotel, no elevator so a lot of stairs. Super close to the super market, beach and restaurants.

This place is a good option if you’re looking for inexpensive accommodations and are not planning to spend much time in your room. It’s in a great location within walking distance to just about everything and the staff was very accommodating, but the rooms are very small with minimal lighting and no seating options. There are also a lot of stairs and no elevators, which was not an issue for us.

Staff so friendly and helpful. Cottage Room was clean and perfect for my accommodations. AC was working wonderful!!! Fresh coffe all day at the front desk. Storage room for lounge very convenient!!

Staff was super nice and helpful, I love that they have beach towels and beach equipment for use. We had a very small room, but we were fine.

Nice location, a short walk from where Catalina Express drops you off and maybe a block away from the museum. I booked a double room and unfortunately had to climb 3 flights of stairs to get there. Not ideal for a family traveling with a baby, stroller, etc. The double room is a bit cramped. Sink is in the main room and the shower/toilet are behind a very tiny room. It's an old hotel so probably just how it was built. I would say it was definitely clean and an average hotel with the most decent price I could find on Catalina.

Staff was nice, but room not ready when I arrived and they did not call me when ready as they stayed they would. Room smelled like clorox and cleanser when we got access ans ome floors were still wet.The roomnos like a studio apartment. Single bur we stove top, good size fridge, small bar counter on po y wall between bed and kitchen area with two stools. No good seating, but no room. I liked that it was like a little bungalow with operable windows.could have used anither pillow, but bed was comfotable enough. And great facial wipes in Restroom. Had tonrequesr cleanntowels daily. Liked that there was coffee in lobby, though they ran out of creamer and did not replenishnfor our last 2 daya ther.. The bar in lobby is not open. Ice machine in lobby broke while we were there. No ice grays in fridge. Also, random silver ware in room, nit a set so we got plasticware at Vons.

My stay was great! I would definitely stay here again. It was in a great location and the staff was extremely friendly. They also allowed us to store our luggage in the morning before checking in which was also extremely helpful and convenient. The only downside was when my partner took a shower in the p.m. before dinner he did run out of hot water. However, when I showered in the morning everything was fine and I did not run out of hot water. Definitely recommend!

Our room was ok overall. But floors had a film on them that was a bit sticky. Exterior of hotel looks worn and needs to be repainted

Room is quaint and charming. However, the floors were stucky, food remnants left in refrigerator, dirty frying pan and spatula. The baseboards were not cleaned. Towels and sheets were good as was the coffee in lobby, staff was friendly however seemed shocked and powerless to make any changes.

This was a very disappointing stay. The room and its amenities were in very poor state with an unpleasant musty odor. It looked like the room had been painted and there was painted spattered everywhere, including on the TV screen. We put food in he fridge only to find it frozen solid by the end of day. I could go on and on - altogether rather disappointing

It is one of the worst property that I ever stayed in United States, the size of the room and the rest room are very small, I would not recommend to stay, there are other hotels around it which are very good, I stayed here two days they did not even clean or change the towels and bed spreads

It was dirty

The room was okay for our 2 night stay. There was an odd smell in our room and the floor was dirty. The staff was very kind when we asked for housekeeping to go in and mop our floors and when we asked for new sheets and towels. Hotel is a little outdated but it would be okay for a short term stay.

Photos of room were not the same as in person. Room was very dirty, baseboards and tile grout need to be deep cleaned. Mirror had finger prints, shower had hair from previous guests and shampoo dispenser broken. Blue tables outside had dried pigeon poop, never cleaned during stay. Buildup of ice in fridge. white paint over blue needs more coats looks sloppy and fast work you can still see what use to be blue. Old microwave was very hard to open. Front desk staff were running on their own time no sense of time for guests waiting at front desk. Kevin the maintenance manager was the only nice attentive staff member.

My room was not fully cleaned - the shower had long dark hair clogging the drain - I have short blonde hair and frankly was disgusted to use the shower after I noticed the hair and dirt on the tiles. There are full time residents that also live in some of the cottages - one of these individuals had a dog and they were out all night and the dog was left alone - alone to howl all night long. It was terrible and you could not sleep. There is also only one window that looks out to the rickety stair case that everyone else uses… which was the setting for an mature photo shoot one night where flashes from the camera went wild threw the one window you are a lotted. Lots of wires exposed for all the appliances and really bad lighting. I’ve stayed in worse places on Catalina - and I’ve stayed at better. Def a middle of the road lodging.

The place was very DIRTY, from public place to the rooms. The room did not have any daily cleaning or at all on our 3 night stay. It was very run down. Very disappointed The staff was friendly and bed was comfortable.

Location is great. Friendly staff and easy check in. This place is OLD, so rooms are small and a little run down. Bathroom was also small. We stayed in a double queen room that was a little snug for us 2 and our 6 yo.

The internet "TV" would allway cut out for about 3-5min then return.

It’s basically a place to stay and nothing else. The beds are about as cheap as you can find, the bathroom is about the size of a closet, and the room has a view of a wall from all windows. It’s one of the cheaper places on Catalina island and you get what you pay for. Also, this room is tiny. Just enough space for two full size beds and that’s it.

2 beds small bathroom and tiny kitchenette. No furniture (dresser, chairs, place to put luggage). Clean close to everything.

water pressure in shower was terrible, toilet wouldnt flush properly.

Booked this for a cheap 2 night stay for a fishing trip for my son and I. Probably the smallest room I've ever stayed In. There was really no closet or place to store anything. The bathroom was so small you had to contort your body to make room to close the bathroom door. During the night it got chilly but we could not get the heater to work. Room was very pricey for what we got but it's Avalon and everything is expensive.

Hotel has a great location!! Right in center of town Front desk staff was very good and checked us in early. We were there Fri-Sun Rooms are just ok and could use some TLC for sure, but for the price they worked for our quick trip. Beds seemed older so not the greatest in comfort and made a lot of noise. A/C unit had huge dent in it so don’t know if it worked or not. Room had a fridge and microwave Shower was just a small standup with an old shower head so it’s more just to jump in quick and jump out. A little updating and add things like a lamp and maybe small chest with drawers and it could be great. No closet, no drawer space, but again, hence the price.

We’ve stayed in the main hotel and loved it. The cottages are cute and we wanted to try them out but they are very small and close quarters. We will stay here again but in the main hotel. The staff is awesome, accommodating and super friendly always!!

Very historic building, good location and walkable community. Very safe. The hotel is very quiet but the space is very dated and in serious need of renovation. No housekeeping done while we were out and staff seemed disinterested.

The front desk ladies were rude and the hotel was dirty. The amount of dust on the ceiling fans are crazy. Terrible service. Never coming back.

Hermosa House was a great choice for my short visit to Catalina. Loved the friendly helpful staff, convenient location and early check in option. Had a very pleasant stay--will choose Hermosa on my next trip to the island.

The picture and description of the room was definitely deceiving.We were able to check in early and the guy that checked us in said all of the rooms are all the same but different lay out. As soon as we got in our room we were surprised how small the room was. There was only 1 outlet near the bed. The nightstand was at the foot of the bed so there was no way I can set up my medical device I need to use for sleep. So I went back to the front desk to ask for another room because I needed a nightstand next to the bed. The guy was like is there a way you can move the bed or reconfigure the room so you can use your device? Then he proceeded to say well as long as you didn’t touch anything in your room I can try to look for another room? That’s what pissed me off? Of course we touched stuff in the room he checked us in that room and how were we supposed to know that room wasn’t equipped with the most basic necessities. And why should we have to reconfigure our room? We’re the guests? What kind of customer service was that? I asked to speak to the manager and she wasn’t too friendly either, kind of a dry personality. She handed me an extension cord and asked if that would work? I said no it’s not gonna work and I wanted another room. She agrees and said she will call us when the room is ready since we checked in early. My BF was tired and seasick so we decided to stick it out. We reconfigured the room ourselves and used an extension cord. The drain in bathroom was also clogged.

My husband and I were guest at your hotel from Friday, March 29 until Monday, April 1. We had a phenomenal time. Alex is wonderful thank you for all your customer service. He is an excellent employee my husband and I will definitely be back to your location.

So much noise! It was so loud from a weeding planning next door we couldn’t enjoy the trip and it was freezing we tried finding and calling for assistant to get a blanket or heater and couldn’t get anything the first night. We called all the number they gave us.

Not too far of a walk from the ferry which I enjoyed. The shower curtain let a lot of water get onto the floor which meant I had to sacrifice 1 out of 2 towels and it got dirty. AC was cold. Easy check in and out. I would probably stay again

The location is central to the main area of Avalon. The hotel, like most in the downtown area, appears to be a converted old home and so is a little basic. No in room coffee but there is a coffee shop nearby. Good basic room in a great location

Been to Catalina island a couple times & this happens to be the best hotel my wife & I have stayed at. Highly recommend this place , everything is walking distance! Steps away from stores , bars & restaurants! The hotel rooms were very clean & have free coffee & a small bar in the lobby. They also have a free storage room in the back to put your luggage’s meanwhile you wait for check-in! My wife & I are really picky when it comes down too choosing hotels & we decided to give Hermosa hotel a chance & it didn’t disappoint at all! The general manager “David” was very helpful as well & customer service here is great. We will definitely be back 😎

Property was old and dated for the price per night. Complimentary coffee bar in lobby was nice to have in the morning.

This hotel has cute little bungalows. They are not big, especially the bathrooms but they are clean. Our room didn’t have AC but it was chilly out so we didn’t need it. The staff is very very nice. Especially the bartender. They put out pastries, bagels and fruit late into the day and there is coffee and tea in the lobby. The location is perfect. Right in the heart of Catalina shops and restaurants. There’s a courtyard very close by that had live music and you could bring your own drinks from the bar at the hotel. We had a nice time. The walls are thin though so bring earplugs if you’re sensitive to noise at night.

Online states bar which was reason I booked here and they mentioned they do not have license to sell alcohol. Also paid for ocean view and no ocean view at all! Not the room I booked in pictures. Sorry but this was not a very clean room and host did not come to clean or deliver towels to our room. Disappointing.

It would have been nice to have kitchen tools plates silverware anything… they have a single burner but no way to cook… no coffee pot and the coffee at the front desk was day old gross. Cute place nice atmosphere close to town.
