We enjoyed our stay at the Stadshotell. The room was great overall, although it could use more counter space in the bathroom. Frukost was great, although you need to learn to make CRISPY bacon, not lumps of fat. Restaurant menu was outstanding. You need a photo of Amal's most famous singer in the hallway: GUNNEL EKLUND, instead of all the blues singers who have no genuine connection to the city.

Amal is a good location for exploring the lakes. There a couple of ok places to eat out, but not as many as I'd have liked. Definitely a base rather than a location. Hotel is in an older building and decorated sympathetically. Our room had plenty of space, but no tea or coffee making facilities.

Beautiful historical building, which have not been destroyed by unlucky renovations, as many similar places have. The rooms also are very stylish and in keeping with the period. Front office and breakfast staff could maybe have been interacted a bit more. A simple good evening or good morning can go a long way. The room was flooded with sun from very early morning, as the blackout curtain only covered two thirds of the window. But still all in all this is a great and majestic hotel, and we'd be happy to return any time.
