Very cute Inn near the beach and lots of other walkable locations. Pool was heated and the rooms seems well maintained and clean. While the parking lot is small, there wasn't any issue with street parking. Staff was very friendly and there was even cookies at check in! We'd be happy to stay here again

The front desk staff were very helpful. We had something unexpected come up at home, and they were kind and supportive. They were kind to our dog. We stayed for 6 nights, in #5 which seemed to be one of the best rooms, so we were glad. The rooms and the lobby are very clean; the pool is heated to the perfect temperature!

We like the location of the property. Close to beach and "bcycles" for easy transportation. A lot of stores and restaurants nearby. We did not like that the pool closes a little early for a tourist area and the parking lot is small. If you have a full size truck you will have a hard time parking if the lot is full. Other than that, we would stay again.

Very clean. Short in parking. We were fortunate to get a spot. Downside was no Keurig in the room! Other than that, Room 1 was amazing. I’d stay again and bring my own Keurig.

Great spot. It’s a hidden gem, a block from Eastbeach. Veronica greeted us with freshly baked cookies and a glass of local vintage in a plastic glass to enjoy at the heated pool. Yes, this is a simple motel but is well kept-up and has the special touches to make me feel safe and comfortable traveling with the family. PLUS one free on-site parking spot per reservation where the large hotel next door carries a $25-48/night parking fee. Looking forward to my next visit!

Motel is well done! But…there is about 10 parking spaces & street parking is not an option since this is right across from paid beach parking! I lucked out with a parking spot but never left because I was afraid I’d not find a spot nearby. Room needs more light, very dark. Kitchen, but no coffee maker? Dogs are forbidden on the beach!

Very nice and cute motel/hotel. Quiet , comfortable and clean. Front desk friendly and courteous. Loved the complimentary glass of champagne and chardonnay from local winery and the fresh baked cookies in the evening. We were there for a quick overnight stay and it was just right for us!

It’s overrate, definitely not a four star hotel. The service is poor, we waited for long time when check in, and can’t find anyone when check out. cleanliness is terrible. There are mildew everywhere in bathroom. There is a busy street next to the hotel, but the window didn’t block any noise, so you can imagine wake up in a noisy room.

I noticed a previous review mention the limited parking, and I can now confirm it’s definitely an issue. The hotel has a very small number of spots, and if there are multiple guests or parties sharing a room, the parking can fill up quickly. My room also had an overpowering bleach smell upon arrival, which made me feel dizzy—I actually had to grab Tylenol from the market next door. It was a bit much. I had to open the sliding door (with no screen) to waft out most of the smell. One thing that caught me off guard was the payment process. The hotel charged my card a few days before my stay, and the charge sat as a pending balance. In my experience traveling for work, most hotels don’t process the payment until you check in, so that was unexpected. On a more positive note, there was a front desk associate who was nice and helpful. I was convenient a cross walk away from the beach and short walk from the pier. Close to a few restaurants and the neighborhood was friendly.

the service was great. room was clean for the most part but the sheets had a bunch of sand in them which obviously made us question how clean the bed was. we would’ve complained but by the time we got in bed it was too late and the hotel front desk had closed.

Honestly, the Blue Sands Inn hotel is not a bad hotel at all. The parking was the main issue because it was so small. The bigger car you have, the harder it is to park. Besides that, the room was nice but the attention to detail was the issue. Little strands of hair, dust particles, things of that nature. Besides that, the location of the hotel is not bad at all. Close to the beach, stores, and places to eat as well. Do not let my comment stop you from staying here. Give it a shot, you might just like it.

This is not a 4 star hotel. The room was covered in sand. The towels were cheap, the toilet paper was cheap and the room was tiny. The biggest issue is that they use some really cheap cleaner in the room that smells disgusting, burns your eyes and throat and makes you feel nauseous. We couldn’t even sleep through the night, our daughter woke up crying at 5am and wouldn’t go back to bed. She didn’t get better until after we got out of the room for a couple of hours. They may want to look into whether or not that cleaning product is toxic.

The sheets on the bed were not changed. When I lifted the blanket & top sheet, there were gritty sand all over at the foot of the bed. When I called to ask for clean sheets, they told me that no one is on the premise to change the sheets. There was no way that I could sleep in those conditions. Needless to say that I did not stay the night there and will never return!

Well for starters, no help with luggage up stairs. My husband is 79 and had to do it all. No closet, no dresser, no desk. It was tiny, just short of a dorm room except dorm rooms have these items. For the high price we paid for this room, it should have been the nice hotel in front of us! We stayed in less expensive hotels with nicer rooms than this! What made it tolerable and worthwhile was Veronica. She was so helpful and sweet, helping us with anything we needed.

We only stayed for one night but it got the job done. Really clean with a cute aesthetic and nice, attentive staff. Our only complaint was that the walls were a little thin and the curtains weren’t blackout so the room was a bit bright for our liking in the morning. Overall, would recommend and return.

Close to the beach. Parking is one car per room and the spaces are super tight and small parking on the street is very limited. The rooms are clean, but the bed mattress are worn out and the spring pop web you move. The bath towels for the most per where ok . But a few had holes! We rented a room with kitchen but there was NO coffee pot. Coffee and tea are available in the office at 8 am( we had to go buy a coffee pot). There are no closets, hangers , or an iron in the room. The safe was out of order. The resort fee is a joke! The only thing that is offered is the pool and that is locked at 8 pm . No spa no bikes to use and no pool towels are available, just a few pool toys! They offer nothing unique! It’s is just a very basic room and not worth the price !

Property is small, but nice and clean. Our room had an ocean view. It’s a cute property. It’s pretty basic, but the location is good!! It was a little noisy with traffic. All in all a good place for a nights stay in Santa Barbara.

The room was clean, and the bed was very comfortable. The only complaint if any was that I forgot an electrical plug for my charger and there wasn’t a USB plug anywhere in the room.
The room was clean, and the bed was very comfortable. The only complaint if any was that I forgot an electrical plug for my charger and there wasn’t a USB plug anywhere in the room.

The room had a nice aesthetic but there was a mini fridge in the room that was very noisy. There was also no additional lock or latch on the door so it felt unsafe to me. This was a big negative to a good night sleep as a solo female traveler. The bathroom had makeup wipes which was a nice touch but there was no iron/ironing board or tea/coffee in the room. There was tea available in reception in the morning but the hot water carafe had been previously used for coffee so tainted the water making the tea undrinkable.

This place had a great location. The rooms were fine, but the mattresses were tough to sleep on. We loved being able to make a short walk to the pier and enjoy the funk zone easily

Terrible customer service!! I originally made reservation bc this hotel was listed as pet-friendly. However after making res. (and paying $20 extra to be able to cancel if necessary) I received note that my soecific room was not pet friendly. I tried to cancel thru 3rd party service but apparently did not go thru. When I double checked the next day, the hotel claimed that it was 4 hours past my cancel-by cut-off. Charged me $248 even though still 3 days til original check-in. So inflexible and all based on false advertising. Ended up staying a block away at budget motel for half the price where they were extremely nice and accomodating.

Nice hotel, free parking, only downside was the mishap at reception. I had to wait an hour to get checked in and another couple was checked into the room I reserved. We had to stay in a room that was occupied not even 10 minutes beforehand and was quickly “cleaned”.

They had given my reserved room to another guest who wanted a room on the ground floor. Why do they think I had reserved a room on the ground floor!? And to switch without asking me first?? He handed me the keys and said that I got 2 rooms for the same price. No thanks!!! I would’ve walked out and went to another hotel if it wasn’t so late already. That room would’ve allowed all three of us to stay together, which was the whole point of staying in SB overnight!! Instead, I was given two small rooms upstairs. No elevator on the facility. No small kitchen with a stove and a dining table. This is utterly unacceptable. We went out to eat first and there was no one on site to speak with when we returned. I am still furious. I will bring up this issue to them tomorrow.

Excellent location right across the street from the beach and very close to downtown Santa Barbara. Our room was cute, clean, and just what you’d need for an overnight stay. The parking is included, so no surprise insane parking fees or resort fees. It was so quiet, too. Honestly had a great stay and would 100% stay here again! Only downside is the office is not 24 hours, so there is an emergency number to call if you lose a key (we did not). Also, there was supposed to be coffee from 8-10am in the office/lobby building, but it was closed and locked when we went to check out, so they didn’t really honor that. No big deal, I still really enjoyed our stay!

Check in was slow and grumpy - room was OK but weird chemical smell - pool was OK but full of leaves - two queens but different mattress one comfortable the other thin noisy with broken springs - TV in room had terrible reception - would have liked to mention all of this to the staff but nobody there after 8 and nobody there around 9:30 when we left.

My friends and I came into town for a concert at the Santa Barbara Bowl. The location is very close to the beach and a short ride to the venue, perfect for our weekend. The staff were incredibly helpful and offered great customer service.

Way too overpriced and rooms as advertised vs actual rooms are not the same. There’s no complimentary breakfast. Only tea and coffee. And we had to warm the water in our room for tea. Would not stay here again for the price.

Very cute Inn near the beach and lots of other walkable locations. Pool was heated and the rooms seems well maintained and clean. While the parking lot is small, there wasn't any issue with street parking. Staff was very friendly and there was even cookies at check in! We'd be happy to stay here again

Very close to East Beach. Room was clean and appreciated having small kitchen/fridge while traveling with kids. Didn’t swim in the pool but saw several families/people swimming in it. Overall satisfied with stay for price point. Of note, coffee in their lobby is served at 8am and the room only had decaf, so if you are an early riser, may be worthwhile to get some at a local store. Staff are on site until 8pm in evening, and after-houre, apparently there is a number to call to check in.

My shower was luke warm at best. The bed was horrifying - and the blankets were not warm - more like a light dusting on top to look like a cover. I was disappointed at the cost of this place for what it offered. Most of all-NO coffee maker in the room!!!!!!! None…and it advertised a kitchen!?!? WITHOUT A COFFEE MAKER. Okay you get it…but, the lobby didn’t open for coffee until way late so that didn’t help either. I’m disappointed.

This is a quant, but modern little place. It is very clean and the rooms are lovely. The entire property is very well-kept and inviting. The staff are absolutely lovely and helpful. Just a very welcoming environment all around. Such a steal for the cost and location. My only slight criticism is that they should serve coffee an hour earlier. 8 am makes sense on weekends but when people are staying during the week, they are likely there for work of some sort. Access to coffee before work starts, typically 8 am, would be much nicer.

Very nice and cute motel/hotel. Quiet , comfortable and clean. Front desk friendly and courteous. Loved the complimentary glass of champagne and chardonnay from local winery and the fresh baked cookies in the evening. We were there for a quick overnight stay and it was just right for us!

Rooms don’t even have slippers, bed was so uncomfortable you can feel the springs. Bring your own shampoo and body wash cause their products are so bad , our skin was so dry and irritated. Just bad. Go stay somewhere else.

The remodel on this building was done well. Esthetically it was lovely. The window in our room was broken and the mirror needed replacing. It had a wonderful location and really kind staff upon check-in and check-out.

Room was clean and the bed was mostly comfortable. The property is really a beautified motel. The alarm clock went off at 5AM and woke everyone up. The water in the shower was warm and never heated up. Given the price, the details made it poor value. Largely fine place to stay otherwise.
