We came in the evening after a long flight, and we were greated by some very welcoming hosts. They took good care of us, we got some good beers in the bar before bedtime 😋 very comfy beds and nice rooms. We will come back next time 😊

The governors Andy & Carol & all the staff are so friendly & hospitality second to none. The regulars also such lovely people too, dog friendly, the food was exceptionally good, great choice of craft beers, very clear & comfortable rooms, excellent location to Stanstead Airport, great function rooms to. 5 * rating from me a very happy guest indeed 👍

The governors Andy & Carol & all the staff are so friendly & hospitality second to none. Nice very remote location, pub very nice, room however had issues, door handle came off, shower tray stained and dirty, dressing table and bedside tables very sticky, fan had the front missing so not usable, room not ready at 3.00. Needs TLC to make it worth the price charged.

Average facilities, carpet was not cleaned and the shower tray had mould all around and smelled of mould, the shower tray had dark grease type stuff and so we did not use the shower.

Food was excellent, pub was nice, breakfast was nice. Room was nice and comfortable but bathroom let it down, toilet had not been flushed and was full of toilet paper, cold shower would not heat up tried everything and then basin in shower was blocked and filled with water quickly. Still a lovely old pub

Rooms large & clean , corridor could do with a clean ( radiator window frames) Stayed in room 6 , no sound proofing what so ever with room 7 , everything could be heard ect. Not good when they turn the tv on at 6 am 🙈 Staff lovely & friendly.

Very nice location, great customer service, choice for B'fast & clean. The property needs big improvements as it can be very hot in summer days! fan was supplied but didn't help much, we had ground floor room couldn't leave the curtains & window open as no net to keep flies away and to have privacy as can see people traffic outside your room window. Lovely surroundings to have picnic.

Whilst the rooms are well appointed, it's within an old building which shows particularly in places like the bathroom. Breakfast is served relatively late but myself and many of my fellow guests had to forego eating as a key member of staff was late and, even at 8.15 breakfast was not available. They did contact afterwards to apologise and offer a refund on the missed breakfast though. Most of the staff I spoke to were excellent with one or two notable exceptions who must have missed customer service training.

Really liked the pub. We stayed for a wedding in the local area. Accommodation was quiet, bed was comfortable and the bed linen and towels were great quality.

Lovely little find! We stayed there as we were going to a gig at Audley End. The staff were extremely friendly, very helpful in organising our taxi to and from the gig. Foodwise, we enjoyed a lovely lunch outside and the breakfast the next morning was delicious (perfect after the festivities at Audley End). Very reasonably priced, clean rooms. Would definitely stay again and will be telling all my friends!

Country pub only 20 minutes from Stansted, good location for early flights. Rooms were good, beds were really comfortable and good shower. We left before breakfast started at 8am, and heard several leaving before us so it would be nice if there was a to go option of a breakfast bar, yogurt, piece of fruit etc.

Location for Stansted Airport good, in country though. Nice room, bed & shower but dinner is only up to 8:30pm and no breakfast available for early flights as it’s only served from 8am and needed to leave by 7:15. They did offer a takeaway breakfast but it was poor (they don’t normally offer it) and needs to be organised properly for it to be beneficial to the customer.

The riom was spacious and clean. The staff were welcoming. We ate in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast, both were great!

Whilst the rooms are well appointed, it's within an old building which shows particularly in places like the bathroom. Breakfast is served relatively late but myself and many of my fellow guests had to forego eating as a key member of staff was late and, even at 8.15 breakfast was not available. They did contact afterwards to apologise and offer a refund on the missed breakfast though. Most of the staff I spoke to were excellent with one or two notable exceptions who must have missed customer service training.

Country pub only 20 minutes from Stansted, good location for early flights. Rooms were good, beds were really comfortable and good shower. We left before breakfast started at 8am, and heard several leaving before us so it would be nice if there was a to go option of a breakfast bar, yogurt, piece of fruit etc.

Location for Stansted Airport good, in country though. Nice room, bed & shower but dinner is only up to 8:30pm and no breakfast available for early flights as it’s only served from 8am and needed to leave by 7:15. They did offer a takeaway breakfast but it was poor (they don’t normally offer it) and needs to be organised properly for it to be beneficial to the customer.

Lovely stay - very good food (Dinner and Breakfast). Large room, comfortable bed and excellent shower (digital temperature controlled). Helpful staff. Large carpark - suitable for Airport stays too. Quiet area.

Excellent Breakfast - continental and cooked. Rooms are quaint - Wooden beams and low ceilings in places, and floors have unevenness of old floors. Staircases are steep and narrow. Rooms have plenty of space. Our room had a bath and shower attachment but other rooms have shower so one might need to ask if you have a preference. Very helpful staff. Dinner was good but a little pricey (maybe that was par for the area?). Outside area was beautiful - on the cricket green. Lots of parking space and taxis can give transfer to airport if required.

Ontbijt was goed, evenals het diner. En vooral het personeel is super vriendelijk. Wanneer ik in de buurt ben zal ik zeker overwegen hier weer te verblijven!

The staff were lovely however, the room was less than ideal for the price point. There were stains on the walls and curtains as well as mold spores under the headboard. The bathroom had a lot of mold even on the shower head. To top it all off the light stoped turning on during the night luckily there was a functioning bedside lamp. For £95 for one night this was not worth that price point. There are hotels not too far I honestly recommend going there instead if you don’t mind the distance.
