Fairfield Inn and Suites Flint Fenton

First off this was the second time in a month we had a terrible experience in the Flint Fenton area. After deciding we wanted to stay with a Marriott property but we would never stay at the Courtyard Grand Blanc we booked the Fairfield in Fenton. Willing to pay the exorbitant rate figuring it had to be a wonderful place. No problems with the check in and the room but the next morning tried using the fitness center and of the elliptical and two treadmills none had a working TV. All three pieces were filthy, the elliptical was total broke both treadmills sounded like trucks when you turned them on. The belts slipped Clearly there has been no maintenance of them for some time. We were there for three nights on the second day I requested room service from workers on the floor they said they would do the room. I left a five dollar tip only to discover their definition of room service is to replace the towels and empty the trash. No new soap and no making of the bed. See pic. I had never heard of a Marriott defining room service as replacing towels. But that is what the girl at the front desk told me. Given this experience i caution anyone to be careful when booking Marriott properly in the Flint Fenton area. Not sure who the owners are of these properties but clearly they don’t care what they are doing to the Marriott name. After bringing these issues to the evening staff and the morning staffs attention the best I got was a “sorry” No attempt to mitigate the situation.

Convenient location, but very noisy as it is located next to the freeway. Breakfast was subpar. Eggs were barely recognizable. The coffee was better than average. Mattress has seen better days; it was lumpy and gave no support. Sheets were almost threadbare. The pool was nice. That was a plus. The towels were, unfortunately, on the small side. The showerhead was awesome! Ultimately, I don't think we will be staying here again. I've been in nicer hotels for less money.

Elevator wasn’t working, very inconvenient to carry luggage and other staff up and down

I stayed two days. I did not receive maid service on day two and had to ask 3 times for service. After asking the third time all I received was a towel refresh. The one wash machine that they did have did not work and the pool area smelled like a sewer. The staff were polite but some were not very helpful.

Plenty of parking, easy access to area resturants and shopping. Very friendly staff! The rooms and hotel in general were clean and orderly. Would stay here again.

The pool is very small!! People wouldn't get in because of lack of room

The pool is tiny! Only 4 or 5 kids can play, no room to swim. The pool room was unbearably hot. Hallways were also uncomfortably hot. They have a good full breakfast and the beds are comfortable. Just okay.

The hotel was very hard to find, no signage near the road at all. The room smelled weird and the carpeting was wet! We arrived later in the evening so just needed to sleep. The bed was comfortable and it was fine for what we needed. Seems like a really good cleaning and deodorizing would help a lot!

Room was very clean, breakfast was delicious and service was friendly.

My wife found hair on the pillow cases. Mold in the bathroom caulk and at the top of bathtub wall. Our room had a slight chemical smell. Generally property was not clean and needed updating. We have been staying at Fairfield’s and have been pleased but might have to rethink.

Do not offer services if you can’t follow through. The carpet in our room had many stains, window sills were filthy. Breakfast was good but wish there had been some plain oatmeal or cereal that wasn’t loaded with sugar.

The staff was excellent. The property itself smelled musty. The mattress felt like it had better days. The lamp in the room had a broken lamp shade. I wasn’t impressed for the money I spent.

The room looked like maybe only beds were changed in towels outside of that. There was hair in the bathroom and the floor of the hotel room was filthy. We were only there for the night (maybe 10 hours total) I definitely would’ve requested a cleaner room.

We stayed in a handicapped accessible room. There is water stains all around the sink and mirrors like it hadn't been washed. When we open the window look outside there's a bunch of trash on the windowsill that was never cleaned. Torn wallpaper in the bathroom hanging off the wall and just overall dirty. The pool had no chlorine smell and had garbage laying around along with hair ties and clump of hair on the floor amongst other things. The staff was friendly it was just not very clean at all

The hotel was filthy. We had two queen beds. The first had dirty blankets, and we found used gauze—yes, gauze. The second bed had brown hair and dirty sheets. They moved us to a room with a king bed. We folded down the covers, and there were fake eyelashes, dirt, and stained sheets. We left the hotel at 11 p.m. and drove three hours home. It was unacceptable. We have photos of everything.

Loved the shower and the bed was very comfortable however, the heating and cooling controls were not very user friendly.

The room bed and shower were great. Very comfortable. Only thing missing was a microwave oven in the room.

When I was checking in I inquired whether or not I received the “wedding party booking discount” …apparently I hadn’t and when I asked to have it corrected they said it’s too late. The hotel only had 3 luggage carts, nowhere to be found. The WiFi in our room was “spotty” and the tv registered no signal for most of our stay. The breakfast was very nice and there was a great selection.

I ended up staying in four rooms over my five night stay because of maintenance issues. First room had a gap in the door frame that allowed people in the hallway to see into the room. Second room had a plugged bath drain and the second night reeked of marijuana when I came back after a long day. Third room had an extremely noisy air conditiner that woke me up all night by grinding when the fan turned on and off. Staff was pleasant and assisted me with changing rooms but it was a bad experience and unacceptable, especially for a Fairfield and Marriott named hotel.

The room looked a bit outdated, and I run hot, so I need to be cold in the room. The air conditioning was turned to its lowest possible temperature (58 degrees) but it, as well as the fan couldn't compete with the hot, September humidity. So imagine my surprise when I fully opened my large, second-floor window to see NO SCREEN in it. It is no big deal for me because I am not a curious child. Luckily, no mosquitos, bats or owls visited us during the night. Believe it or not, the bed was VERY comfortable. And I hate hotel beds! The bathtub's shower head had several settings and was wonderful. The room was clean, the towels were numerous as was the shampoo, body wash and conditioner. The breakfast included scrambled eggs, individually made waffles with maple syrup AND blueberry syrup, pork and turkey patty style sausages, bagels, toast, scones, cereal, etc. It was wonderful. We will go back!

Had a issue with the internet

The hotel was fine. However, we reserved a suite and while the main bed was nice, the pull out sofa was really bad. Only a twin but worse, lowest quality mattress possible. Also there was no privacy and no space. It was like they took a regular sized room and threw a low quality hide a bed in. Poor form from the Marriott chain

Our refrigerator was broken. Went to bed with the fridge on and working. Woke up and it was at 50* and all of my food was warm. There was an error code flashing on the fridge. Lost about $100 in food and had to eat out all weekend. I mentioned to the gentleman who was working the front desk and he didnt seem to care very much. Just said he would have it looked at before renting the room again.

We had a room with a jaccuzi and it was spectacular. Hottest water ever, perfect placement and size. Bed was comfy with white bedding, slept great, no sounds from outside.

The room was clean, the staff was courteous, and the breakfast buffet was awesome. The person in charge of the buffet was friendly and made our day.

The young lady working overnight as the auditor was amazing, and justin in the breakfast area is absolutely fantastic, above and beyond...

The front desk staff was so nice. Every person, no matter the time.

Justin (who fed us breakfast every morning) was amazing. He was kind, attentive and cheerful. He went above and beyond.

I loved that it was close to everything you needed. The staff was very friendly. Check in was a little slow but there was only one employee and a whole lot of people to check in. We were there a few days and no one came to clean the room which I thought was a little strange usually hotels at least make the bed. They could have been short staffed not really sure. But over all it was a nice hotel.

We tried to check in at 5:20pm and the room was not ready. The fron1q¹t desk person was not attentive to our needs. He contined with other work without giving us information if our room was finally ready

Great location to fly out of Flint Airport

What's not to like? Friendly staff, lots of outlets and charging ports, checkout at noon (not like other hotels) Good breakfast. 3 miles from the event we were attending.Easy on and off the highway. Woud definitely stay there again.

It was quiet, clean, and convenient.

Nice property but location was nice to Home Depot. Okay for a sleepover or home improvement project but not so nice for a weekend getaway

Since we were late check in due to arriving to wedding a few miles away, we ended up with handicap room. Room was ok. Breakfast was good, just felt bad with only 1 gentleman attending to breakfast area. He was running around like crazy! Other than that, nice hotel.
