Catalina Island Inn

Great location! Half a block up from the main street, easy walk to beach, shops and restaurants. No elevator, three stories with stairs. Quiet area across from Post Office next to the old Von's store.

The hotel was built in the 1800, no elevator so we had to walk four flight of stairs. With our luggage, had a great view of the bay.

No elevators. We stayed on the 4th floor. Thank goodness we packed light 😆

It did not have an elevator. The third floor is more like a 4th floor ot a 3rd B floor. There was an extra flight of stairs to get to the rooms that have a view. I got my steps in and then some. ;-) The staff was very friendly and helpful. They provide beach towels which was helpful.

The room was ok but the building needs better maintenance. The shower head was clogged the first day and then dripping the next. Freezer iced over. The railing looks like it’s rotting on the balcony and roof overhang. Common areas / patio on 2nd floor dirty and trash laying around. Also didn’t know this prior but there is no elevator so beware if you’re older and have a top floor you have to carry your suitcase up all those flights of stairs. Overpriced for the quality.

Amazing service. They allowed us to check in our luggage early and store luggage even after our checkout. They called when our room was ready, which was well before check in time. Beautiful room . Absolutely no complaints

Great location. Overall comfortable hotel - bed was definitely comfortable. Be advised there is no elevator. We were in the highest farthest room (lols!). Hotel is dated. Service was just ok. Room cleaning didn’t happen until really late in the day - so after being out all day it was kind of a bummer to feel like we couldn’t chill in our room. And we had to push for beach towels since laundry was on a different floor than reception and if they were out at reception they didn’t want to make the trek to grab clean ones. They do have luggage storage if you arrive before check-in or have time before your ferry after check-out. So that’s definitely a bonus.

The only bad thing was no elevator. But the service was perfect and polite. Cleanliness was perfect. No issues what’s so ever. Thanks for the wonderful time

The room was great and the view was perfect. We had a view of the harbor. While I understand the hotel is old, everything in the room appeared to be fairly new except the carpet. Very old and dirty.

Disappointing, particularly for the cost. Probably the worst room, right by the stairs, window facing directly at the other building. It took opening the window and running the AC for a bit to clear a terrible musty smell in the room. They also left garbage bags stacked right outside the room door in the morning. Staff looked miserable and like they didn’t want to be there. Generally a run down vibe. We had Sunday and Monday night booked but checked out early because of this and didn’t stay the second night. Only thing this place has going for it is the location, and clearly that’s what they are relying on.

Awful property. No amenities, except an ice machine. No vending, no water. Carpets were disgusting. Bed looked like someone had sat or lain on it. Tiny room, tiny bathroom. Not worth the price tag.

Close to center of town and ferry. The carpets are filthy and need to be replace now.

The staff was great. The room however, dirty dirty sheets, stained with blood and god knows what else. Has to go buy blankets from the store. The bathroom shower had dirt on the ground.

Needs renovation! The bathroom was new but the rest of the room is not up to the bathroom. Nor is the reception area. Old, chipped furniture and the carpet throughout the hotel is pretty gross. For the price I paid, I expected much more. Also, be aware that there is no elevator and we were on the fourth floor!

Property old. Comforter dirty. Restroom had a bad smell. Not worth the money for the room.

We have stayed here a couple times and love it unfortunately this trip the bathroom in the lobby looked like it had not been cleaned in days

This was a nice little place to stay. The beds were a bit too small for us - we stayed in the family room. The shower was awful, water kept coming out into the bathroom when you shower because it was so incredibly tiny. Those two things are our only complaint. It’s clean and that’s most important to me. Everyone there was very friendly and it’s located in a great area !

Nice and clean, our particular room had view of neighboring roof. To be expected for cheaper room. Shower small for me being 6’3” and 300 lbs. but usable.

Besides absolutely no view (windows frosted to block alley view) tiniest hotel room ever -I think I had a bigger room on a cruise once! The motel 6 room we had in Inverness, CA two nights prior was twice the size at a third of the price - i know location location location but really?! The nice thing was we were able to get into the room early as in before noon!

Where to start, rooms are small, shower is a closet, no lift and 23 steps to the first room floor. We were unable to flush toilets for a day and a half due to a water main issue that affected thebsalt water supply for the sanitation system. We were told any minutebornwithin an hour at least 8 times. We asked to be texted when it was working. We were not notified. When we askednfir thenlast time, the front desk woman looked annoyed and said, yes it's working. We had to go to public buildings to use the restroom. Thebfront room with a balcony was a joke because it was not only abshared balcony but open to anyone in the hitek to use from 9-9 giving access to the eye oevel windows into our room. We had to keep wlthe blinds closed keeping thenroom.dark. Being on the street with older non insulated windows maklde every passer-by, golf cart, vehicle, and garbage truck sound asnif they were in the room. 3am street cleaners andndelivery trucks, 4am street blowers, and 6am island commuters made it easily the loudest hotel I have ever stayed in. The toilet thatbran every 45 seconds all night was simply a bonus. Thenisland is a greatbplace to relax whichbis why we have been andozen times but, I would not recommend this Inn. It has no amenities, no peace, no heart, and a bad vibe.

The staff was very helpful and polite. I got to check in a couple hours early. I booked the King Deluxe room with a fireplace and balcony. The said room had all of the above however the fireplace was confusing to function, that amenity is why I choose the room . I wanted peace and quiet with a roaring fireplace as the photos , unfortunately I got what looked like a gas range was on high behind a glass window that got VERY hot with no warning label. I’d hate for toddlers to run into it. It did it’s job nonetheless. The nice lady on the front said she would call maintenance , but he never arrived. The coffee machine and mini fridge are in the bathroom. Speaking of the bathroom it’s RIDICULOUSLY cold in there. Next time I’ll be using shower shoes, I cracked my toe nail on a crevice, where a rock used to be, messing up my fresh pedi- but hey Catalina island is so beautiful and peaceful once outside I forgot all about what I mentioned. I would stay again because the staff and the balcony and the bed took care of me and my peaceful get away.

Plus: View was nice. Negative: They charge you before you check-in, which wasnt made clear when booking. (I wanted to provide a different card when i physically checked in.) Being that you are on Catalina Island, and many places don't have elevators...we were on the fourth floor and it took a lot for us to get our luggage to and from our room. Plus...having to repeatedly go up and down several flights of stairs was challenging for my wife. Additionally, the bed although big...was super hard. Might as well been sleeping on the floor. The feet of the bed frame extended far out from the bed, and proved to be a trip hazard. The cable signal to the room was regularly disrupted and the cable box needed to be reset. Many of the wall outlets were either loose or broken.

Beautiful area. Wonderful view of the ocean from our room. Bed was super comfy! Price was reasonable. Would most definitely stay here again!

Everything was great but customer service is really bad

The guy at the check in counter is really not friendly. The place is definitely overdue for a lot of updating!! Not worth the money. Late check in, early check out. Go elsewhere.

Honestly, all areas rated as a 4 could be 4 1/2. We were so pleasantly surprised by this hotel, and the value was very, very good. It was close to everything and just perfect for our needs. You have to know this is an older property, but everything is so well kept. We will be booking here again when we come to Catalina Island. It was just a lovely, lovely stay.

20 minutes after we checked out I realized I left a very nice water bottle in the room, I came back and the room was being cleaned. The person cleaning the room said there was no bottle but I was sure my bottle was there. I went to talk to customer service, the guy in customer service went up to the room and found it on top of the closet shelf. I did not use the closet, I left the bottle in the bathroom countertop and someone put it there for whatever reason. He handle me the bottle and said: you left it on the top shelf of the closet, I said no I didn’t it someone put it there and he answered: well you have it now. Sorry but someone in your hotel could be hiding things to take home later

We've been to Avalon several times but this was our first stay at Catalina Island Inn. It was a nice stay. Hotel is clean and comfortable and located close to shops, beach and food choices. We had a first floor room with private patio. It was nice to have our own outdoor space. I would probably spend a bit more for one of the higher rooms with a balcony next time. All in all, I would recommend as a nice place to stay when visiting Avalon.

This hotel is close to many bars and restaurants. Although my bed was comfortable the sheets looked like they weren't washed because they had stains all over them. The water pressure in the bathroom shower is a joke and i had to run the sink to get hot water because it was taking forever to get hot water take a shower. Online says complimentary breakfast. I was told new owner nixed that. The room it's self was clean.
