I see they get a 9.2 overall rating, that's just too low! I stayed two weeks (!) and it's just lovely and the staff couldn't be nicer. Very old building, wonderfully maintained. They take pride in what they do there and it shows! There are some limitations -- the continental breakfast is nice but super basic. The rooms don't have fridges or microwaves. This is an old-skool bed & breakfast, not a motel! (Guests do have access to these 24/7 in the dining room). And if you are looking for the slowest elevator on Earth, you have found it! :-)

I loved my stay. The location was excellent and I had a nice room. I didn't mind that I shared a bathroom with another room. The elevator was a huge benefit with luggage.

This was a very nice B&B geared more for adults rather than families. It is in a great location in what appears to be a more upscale area, right next to the the public and common garden parks. Parking is a bit of a walk away, best for visitors that would walk or use mass transit everyday. Note: there wasn't a TV in the room, so I was forced to talk to my girlfriend. Win for her.

I loved my 3 night stay here in late December. It is such hidden gem. Communication before was impeccable, room was amazing - really well appointed and designed. Spacious layout in a gorgeous 1864 townhouse on a beautiful wide street in the Back Bay. Excellent continental breakfast every morning, elevator if you need but main staircase is lovely too. Very quiet too (thanks to no tv in rooms!)

Excellent location. Very walkable. Arlington T nearby. Very clean. Only 2 rooms share bath. Shampoo & soap, no conditioner or lotion. Extremely comfortable bed. Well-lit room except for the area next to mirror. Used the hallway mirror to put on makeup. Free cold breakfast 7:30-10. 24-hr tea/coffee, fruit, cookies. Shared fridge. The best staff: friendly & helpful! Clear pre-trip communication. Office open in day. You have codes for front door & your room. Area around hotel very quiet. I faced Commonwealth. Window A/C unit let in some noise but didn’t affect me. Earplugs available. When on vaca, I want to sleep. My big complaint is that I was woken up on 2 AMs by staff. During the week the woman cleaning rooms & the man were very loud, esp the woman. They were carrying on loud, personal chitchat both in the hallway & in room next to me with open door. I could hear her from floor below. Another AM a contractor evaluated repairs. As he went floor to floor with staff, they loudly chatted & laughed while banging walls as his cellphone rang loudly. Kudos that they are maintaining this lovely building. A heads up would have been appreciated. It would have been better if this appointment was in the afternoon & not first thing Monday AM, which I realize may not have been possible. I’m not sure if I would stay here again. Only con was shared bathroom, although saw no evidence of anyone else using it. Not really an issue All in all, would recommend this property

Great location. Helpful, friendly staff. Large rooms. Lots of creaks (it’s a historic hotel). Seemed musty to me but lots of deodorizers around. Low water pressure in the shower. No TV in the room but free WiFi. Free breakfast and automatic coffee machine were very nice.

Very nice historical bldg on Commonwealth right off the Boston Commons. Excellent central location. My room on 3rd floor is very nice, quiet. It’s a shared bath, which has been fine, haven’t seen any other guest! Definitely worth the cost, a lot cheaper than other Boston hotels in this area. Very clean!

We loved the location and enjoyed walking around Beacon hill, the Public Garden and Common and Copley Square. The hotel was unique and beautiful, accommodations were comfortable and clean, staff was lovely and breakfast, coffee & cookies were delicious!

The College Club had been on my radar for a while but this was my first stay. Everything about it was excellent. Very personal, friendly service, good suggestions about the area, charming, large room, clean and quiet. The breakfast room is well-appointed and there were several options including fresh fruit, pastries, a great coffee machine with various drinks. This is hopefully my new home when I'm in Boston.

The College Club of Boston will be where I want to stay for upcoming visits to Boston. It is a gracious old place. My room was enormous and beautiful- the bathroom same. The building is very quiet- there was a reception happening on the ground floor one evening yet it was quiet in my room. No TV in room, there were books instead. What an escape from the 21st century!

Pros: Fantastic location, walking distance to restaurants and shopping. Room was nice and cozy. Quiet ambience. Free cookies were good. Cons: Shared bathroom was not clean. Wifi did not work properly. Strange smell in the lobby area.

A quaint place in one of the best parts of Boston. It was nearby to public transportation. The rooms were nice and well kept and the staff was very accommodating. Coffee, fruit, and cookies were available around the clock.

This is definitely a unique hotel. It is sponsored by a historic women's club in Boston and they take good care of it and their visitors. I accidentally left a car key in my room, and the manager called my home to report that they had it. If she hadn't taken the time to do that. I would have arrived in San Francisco with no way to get home!

Excellent location. Very walkable. Arlington T nearby. Very clean. Only 2 rooms share bath. Shampoo & soap, no conditioner or lotion. Extremely comfortable bed. Well-lit room except for the area next to mirror. Used the hallway mirror to put on makeup. Free cold breakfast 7:30-10. 24-hr tea/coffee, fruit, cookies. Shared fridge. The best staff: friendly & helpful! Clear pre-trip communication. Office open in day. You have codes for front door & your room. Area around hotel very quiet. I faced Commonwealth. Window A/C unit let in some noise but didn’t affect me. Earplugs available. When on vaca, I want to sleep. My big complaint is that I was woken up on 2 AMs by staff. During the week the woman cleaning rooms & the man were very loud, esp the woman. They were carrying on loud, personal chitchat both in the hallway & in room next to me with open door. I could hear her from floor below. Another AM a contractor evaluated repairs. As he went floor to floor with staff, they loudly chatted & laughed while banging walls as his cellphone rang loudly. Kudos that they are maintaining this lovely building. A heads up would have been appreciated. It would have been better if this appointment was in the afternoon & not first thing Monday AM, which I realize may not have been possible. I’m not sure if I would stay here again. On the one hand I loved it here. On the other hand, I value my sleep & get quite annoyed when I’m woken up unnecessarily.

Very nice historical bldg on Commonwealth right off the Boston Commons. Excellent central location. My room on 3rd floor is very nice, quiet. It’s a shared bath, which has been fine, haven’t seen any other guest! Definitely worth the cost, a lot cheaper than other Boston hotels in this area. Very clean!

Very nice place in central downtown Boston. Close to airport and Back bay. Close to park, subway and everything. Staff are all super friend ly. All day coffee , tea, cookie and fruits. Breakfast is complimentary. I love this place and will come back for sure.

It's an inexpensive, cozy little place with a great location. The lack of an attached bathroom to each room may turn some off, but the quality of the bathroom is good, and a robe is provided. The breakfast is simple but solid. 24 hour cookies and coffee is a nice perk.

Charming. Safe, quiet, old world. Felt intimate, cozy, and special. We loved everything except the breakfast- it’s something you get at the cheapest motels. Plan for eating out. Parking is very expensive. Back Bay charges more than advertised. Dining suggestions were great.

A quaint place in one of the best parts of Boston. It was nearby to public transportation. The rooms were nice and well kept and the staff was very accommodating. Coffee, fruit, and cookies were available around the clock.

The College Club had been on my radar for a while but this was my first stay. Everything about it was excellent. Very personal, friendly service, good suggestions about the area, charming, large room, clean and quiet. The breakfast room is well-appointed and there were several options including fresh fruit, pastries, a great coffee machine with various drinks. This is hopefully my new home when I'm in Boston.

Great Bostonian place. This is a renovated Victorian home with preserved antique furniture. Great location, walking distance to the green line on the T. Also, next to Newbury street. Breakfast is OK. But, the coffee machine is awesone! We will be coming back for sure.

We loved the location and enjoyed walking around Beacon hill, the Public Garden and Common and Copley Square. The hotel was unique and beautiful, accommodations were comfortable and clean, staff was lovely and breakfast, coffee & cookies were delicious!

I loved my 3 night stay here in late December. It is such hidden gem. Communication before was impeccable, room was amazing - really well appointed and designed. Spacious layout in a gorgeous 1864 townhouse on a beautiful wide street in the Back Bay. Excellent continental breakfast every morning, elevator if you need but main staircase is lovely too. Very quiet too (thanks to no tv in rooms!)

I found this property on accident and I will never stay anywhere else. The room was huge and gorgeous. The location was SUPREME. The breakfast was SO good with a large assortment of options from hard boiled eggs, yogurt, fruit, bagels, pastries, juice, coffee, and more. The staff was so kind and helpful. Access was so great with everything being door codes instead of key cards. Truly will be recommending this place to everyone.

I had a very nice visit at the College Club of Boston. I stayed in a single room with a shared bath, and the bathroom was very clean. The room was small but comfortable. I loved the actual building and the charming details. I would definitely stay again!
