This is a wonderful place for biking the root river trail. Nice room- fabulous breakfast. Kind and helpful staff. Locked shed for bikes- and electricity to charge ebike. Staff so very helpful. We will be back in the fall!!

Fabulous location in Lanesboro, the hub of the Root River bike trail. All the rooms are unique. Loved our bicycle suite. Good continental breakfast with local pastries and scones. They have a locked bike shed for easy and safe bike storage. The town itself has lots of restaurants and a small theatre for local live theatre. Fun place we will definitely go back.

Lovely little place with interesting rooms. Certainly quirky and not handicap accessible but it is a very old building. Staff was lovely and reached out to see if I needed a late check in. Loved that they actually showed me the room and how everything worked (air conditioning/TV). Slept wonderfully and the muffins/scones from the bakery down the street are amazing. Had our coffee/scone sitting on the front porch watching it rain - perfect! Will defiantly stay here again when we are in Lanesboro, but will stay more than one night next time….

Every morning from 7-9 AM in the common area, there is a lovely brunch served. They have fresh fruit, cereal, fresh pastries (from a local bakery, the caramel rolls were still warm when they were served), milk, coffee, tea, and various juices. We loved the historical vibe of this hotel with the amazing way the hotel was established from an old feed mill. Everything was very clean and comfortable, especially the bed! The continental breakfast was par for hotel fare except for the amazing pastries brought in fresh everyday from the bakery up the street. Delicious! We would definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting a relaxing spot after a beautiful bikebtt try ide on the Root River Trail.

The staff was friendly and mostly fine. Check in was fine. My complaints are the bed was like sleeping on the floor it was so hard....it took 20 mins to get water hot enough to take a shower...luke warm doesn't cut it in my book....we heard everything from every room around us all night long...after a restless night when asked about our stay I informed them of what I just mentioned and the reply was "no one has ever complained about that before"....have a hard time believing that was true.....room was not worth what we paid....will not be staying there again...

I like the fact that you could still see the architecture in the old mill on the inside. The thick stone walls and beamed ceilings are so impressive. We had one of the loft rooms and loved the roominess. We are planning to go back again. The owners and staff will do anything to meet your needs.

Stone Mill Suites is a great property! This is the 2nd time we’ve stayed here; we were in the Amish room which has a queen bed and a daybed. This room also has its own private entrance from the outside, in addition to having an entrance from inside. Highly recommend this place for your visit to Lanesboro!!

Such a warm welcome when I arrived! My room was absolutely charming - it was in the Feed Mill with a lovely stone wall, wooden beams, and high ceiling. It also had a small refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker. The light breakfast included hard boiled eggs, yogurt, coffee, and scrumptious pastries made at a local shop. But best of all was chatting with the host. It was a wonderful weekend.

Enjoyed our stay very much at Stone Mill. Only note is the Boat Room is closest to the dining area- so if you are not an early riser, don’t book this particular room. Breakfast is served 7-9am, and you do hear some of the noise from the dining area. Many other rooms to choose from though!

Over all a very good stay. Very nice towels, hot tub works well, staff came to thevroom and explaing how the electronics worked. Breakfast included Danishes from a local bakery. I rated it a 3 for comfort because the bed in our room, the Egg suite, was way TOO FIRM. It was in good condition but was very, very hard and uncomfortable. I cant speak for any other suites.

I was in town to do some work for a business in Preston. There are very few lodging options nearby, and I discovered Stone Mill. It is a small facility with limited staff, but they still made my very late check-in very easy. The staff was super friendly, and the room was simple by comfortable. For a B&B I was extremely disappointed in the breakfast portion of the stay, especially given the price of the room. They offered only cold continental (basically a few pastries, instant oatmeal, and hard boiled eggs you peel yourself). Also, they neglected to state that the entire city is mostly closed down in the winter months so there was much in the way of food for other meals without having to travel a fairly long distance.
