The onsen facilities, especially the very large mixed outdoor bath with provided swimwear, receive strong praise. However, the property is old with many stairs and limited direct elevator access, coin laundry machines are repeatedly reported out of order, and parking can be inconvenient.

Cleanliness is inconsistent: several guests cite slimy or dirty onsen areas, dusty or stained rooms, leftover items, and smelly or dirty tableware, while others found spaces acceptably clean. Housekeeping sometimes misses rooms or details.

Rooms are traditional and dated, with sizes varying from very spacious to quite small; many enjoy mountain or river views and tatami or futon layouts. Temperature control and air conditioning are inconsistent, and guests often need to lay out their own futons.

Service feedback is mixed: some praise friendly, helpful, and English-capable staff, while others report long waits, absent or understaffed reception and dining teams, and occasional rudeness (e.g., parking or front desk). Responses to simple requests can be good.

Scenic, quiet location convenient for the Kurodake ropeway and exploring Daisetsuzan, with a convenience store and town spots within walking distance. Off-season stays feel very quiet.

Buffets offer many options, but quality is inconsistent—some enjoyed meals while others found them mediocre or expensive. Repeated cleanliness and operations issues are noted, including dirty plates or utensils, occasional insects in produce, and slow bussing.
