Please don’t stay here if you are foreigner and no car. The front desk staff just excused she can’t speak English then throw me the QR code to read by myself. I have been to many onsen hotels in Japan. The service in Shiretoko Daiichi is not comparable to the others. I can say it is the worst onsen hotel. The plates are sooo dirty at restaurant. I can’t believe it’s in Japan! The staff never greet me when they see me. Only plus point is the room is big. But they gave me a very noisy room which is next to onsen. I couldn’t sleep well cos I can hear people walk pass my room.

The room is spacious, bright and clean. However, the private onsen is old and rusty. The sink, faucet, metal handle bars and anything metal around the onsen is corroding pretty badly. I turned the faucet handle on the faucet and my hand smelled like rust even after washing it. There is also rust on the tile floor. The private onsen needs full renovation and shouldn't be used by anyone in these conditions.

Beautiful location, very large hotel , large room, huge windows with amazing view. I did not eat at the restaurant but used the large hot springs and enjoyed the many pools. The problem is that the hotel smells bad with musty carpets, elevators smell like smoke , the room carpet was very old and stained and the toilet room smelled horrible. The hotel is in desperate need of renovations and new carpets. It is so huge that it feels uncomfortable and unwelcoming.

Chambre très très spacieuse avec vu sur la mer et le coucher de soleil. Très très propre, bien agencée . La literie est confortable et la chambre bien insonorisée. Les bains public tres propre et très spacieux. Plusieurs bains et bains à remous dont un a l' extérieur pour admirer le coucher du soleil de l' extérieur. Le buffet dîner est surprenant. Il y a beaucoup de choix (japonais, western, chinois) soft bière et alcool a volonté. Un coin dessert en tout genre disponible! Le buffet petit déjeuner n est pas aussi fourni mais bien fourni (western,japonais,chinois et des fruits!?) Très bien pour les familles également

We stayed in Japanese Western Style Room with Japanese Futon and the room is BIG~ Hotel room furnishing is on the older end but overall the room was comfortable. Onsen was great too. Hotel can be a little inconvenient for travellers without a car. For those driving, there is ample parking available both in front and behind the hotel. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful. Recommended stay when in Utoro, Shiretoko!

We especially would like to thank the front reception staff by the name of Lee. Lee-san has been a great help to us and she has made our check in at the hotel extremely easy and smooth. Thanks for sharing with us some of the valuable information about the national park which have save us some time and hassle. She is definitely a keeper. 先ずは初日のホテル到着時(20:40ぐらい)、フロントには誰も居なく、コンシエージも誰も居ない。荷物を自分で台車に乗せて、ロビーに置いておき、車を駐車場に移動。その後フロントでベルを鳴らしてチェックインは済んだが、荷物は台車に載せたまま自分で部屋へ運ぶ。(自分はこれは特に問題無し) その夜は上の階からの騒音に悩まされ、夜中に就寝。食事(朝食、夕食)は全般的に◯。部屋の清掃は1日おき。(これも自分は問題無し) 初日に間に合わなかった夕食分はしっかり返金頂きました。総合点は80点。

Most of the staff are not Japanese, so they do not care about the service This hotel is suitable for your group, not for individual bookings. The good things about the hotel, the dinner is good. The staff of the hotel was more than perfect: we arrived in an awful rainstorm, and they sent us a shuttle, so we didn’t have to go up to the entrance. In another event, someone at the lobby helped me navigate a Japanese only website to get a reservation for a bus service. The hotel is on a hill, and the upwards road is around 20 minutes from the bus central. It’s much - much! - easier if you have a car. It can be grueling if you have big bags or if you spent the day hiking. The hotel itself is elegant and enormous. I didn’t use the onsen, but people seemed to love it. There is a laundry room, an arcade and a massage room, and also a store inside the hotel where you can buy snacks, souvenirs and drinks. The breakfast and dinner was fantastic buffet style event. They had great varieties of both western and Japanese style foods, plus desserts, soups and everything in between. Seriously, this was the best hotel dining we’ve ever had in Japan! The rooms were big (enormous even) and sunny, the bathroom was very nice and of course everything was very clean. One of my favourite stays in Japan, ever. (again: it’s much better if you have a car, and you don’t have to climb the roads after a full day of hiking.)

The room size is generous. However, if you book in winter and the weather is not good, especially windy days, and your room is facing the ocean, the sound/noise of waves and tides are too penetrating. Breakfast and dinner are buffet style with generous spread. However, I feel the heating is not good and the food are mostly not warm, especially for dinner. The location is on a small hill/slope and not very convenient to walk around. It’s better to come with self-driving/car. The town is small.
