Wonderful hotel with first class service. Rooms were big and had everything you could need. Shuttle service available to station each way. Taxi inexpensive. Funicular from station nearby. Fixed dinner menu but food excellent. Breakfast also limited but very good. No late hotel bar which was a shame but not essential for us.

Hakone is beautiful, we loved our stay here. Felt a bit more quaint and cozy then I imagine maybe some other options or that is just generally the vibe for a small town in the mountains. The alcohol amenity and bar snacks were a lovely touch. The onsen was small but never crowded so it didn’t feel that way. Would absolutely stay here again if my luck brings me back to this place.

We liked that it had an indoor and outdoor onsen. We didn’t make dinner reservations before arriving but they accommodated us by giving us a simplified dinner menu that did not require prep. Thank you!

The overall hotel is built upon a much older building. In general, it was very nice but the room I had (1st floor) was dated and very worn looking. Carpets were worn and spotted (by who knows what) which made them look dirty and unkempt. Wallpaper was lifting in places. All the furnishings were scuffed and marred. That said, the beds and linens were clean, as was the bathroom. Just felt quite old and in need of refreshing. The onsen was very nice and just what you would expect. The staff were courteous and polite (as only the Japanese can be) and there were little language barriers.

The hotel is located in the beautiful mountainous area, my room had an amazing view. The hosts were very accommodating, I was allowed to check in earlier on the day of arrival. The onsen was great! The minus about the Gota area is that it’s not offering a lot of dining places. However, the hotel has the restaurant. The food was delicious! I had a great time during my stay!

We stayed in a Deluxe Room which was fantastic—apparently recently renovated, and the new touches were excellent. We also appreciated the arrival Happy Hour with unlimited drinks and light snacks. Unfortunately, the positives ended there. The service was deeply disappointing. The staff seemed completely bothered by our presence and rushed us through interactions, including breakfast orders. The low point was dinner: we were told the restaurant was 'full' and had to find food elsewhere, despite seeing only about five people dining inside all night. Since the hotel is isolated up a mountain (a 30-minute walk to the nearest conbini) and they offer no room service, we were left stranded with no alternatives provided by the staff. Note to travelers: We luckily found Bombay Hakone, an Indian restaurant that delivered excellent food up the twisty mountain roads in the rain—major kudos to them. As for the facilities, the onsens were nice but small, and the outdoor roof leaked, dripping ice-cold rain on us while trying to relax. I have stayed at many ryokans and hotels in the Hakone area; this was my first and last visit to Hotel Marroad.

Can't be having the same English breakfast and French dinner everyday. Restaurants closes relatively early in Gora. Public transportation not very convenient. Need your own car to move around. Walking to Gora station is an option, but the terrain is hilly. Hotel shuttle service starts from 9am and ends at 6pm. Telephone booth next to Information office at Gora station to call for hotel shuttle service. Hotel service is excellent. Onsen facilities were good.

I had an amazing stay at Marroad. On the outside, it looks a bit outdated, but the interiors are well maintained. I absolutely loved my room — it had been renovated, everything looked new, and it was both spacious and cozy. The staff were very kind and attentive. Another nice thing to mention is that they offer a free shuttle service from Gora Station to the hotel; you just have to call upon arrival.

I absolutely loved my room — it had been renovated, everything looked new, and it was both spacious and cozy. The staff were very kind and attentive. Another nice thing to mention is that they offer a free shuttle service from Gora Station to the hotel; you just have to call upon arrival.

The area where the hotel is has a beautiful view of the valley. The rooms are very comfortable and have great amenities. We had to walk the steep climb because the driver left at 6:00pm. We arrived by 6:40pm, they wouldn't give us a reservation for dinner because reservations needed to be done by 6:30pm. The host didn't try to find a solution so we ended up not having dinner

Room was clean and good size. Looks like recently renovated. Very limited meal options and rather expensive for what were offered, for both breakfast and dinner. Not buffet style. Can't be having the same English breakfast and French dinner everyday. Restaurants closes relatively early in Gora. Public transportation not very convenient. Need your own car to move around. Walking to Gora station is an option, but the terrain is hilly. Hotel shuttle service starts from 9am and ends at 6pm. Telephone booth next to Information office at Gora station to call for hotel shuttle service. Hotel service is excellent. Onsen facilities were good.

The hotel is located in the beautiful mountainous area, my room had an amazing view. The hosts were very accommodating, I was allowed to check in earlier on the day of arrival. The onsen was great! The minus about the Gota area is that it’s not offering a lot of dining places. However, the hotel has the restaurant. The food was delicious! I had a great time during my stay!

We stayed in a Deluxe Room which was fantastic—apparently recently renovated, and the new touches were excellent. We also appreciated the arrival Happy Hour with unlimited drinks and light snacks. The staff helpfully drove us down the hill to a convenience store to get meal for dinner. If arriving in Gora, it’s quite a hike up the hill, but if you’ve a Hakone Free Pass, get on the cable car and go two stops up the hill, then it’s just a short walk along to the hotel. We liked that it had an indoor and outdoor onsen. We didn’t make dinner reservations before arriving but they accommodated us by giving us a simplified dinner menu that did not require prep. Thank you!

It was a nice stay, I especially like the onsen. The staff were nice and helpful. Breakfast and dinner were ok and a little overpriced, there was also no variety to choose from.

The staff were extremely helpful and kind. The room was very clean and spacious. The onsen was lovely, perfect to relax in. We didn't dine there, but it was sold out every night, so book in advance if you decide to stay. We spoke to a few other guests who loved the food. Only downside is that the hotel is up a hill, about 20 minutes walk from Gora station. However, the hotel offers a free shuttle service to and from the station which we used a few times and the staff promptly picked us up and dropped us off. Very useful! We would definitely choose to stay here again

Beautiful hotel in a serene location with an onsen and close to câble car. The shuttle driver got out bags from Gora station and so we can start exploring before 3p check in. Same for when we checked out and they delivered our bags at the Gora station. Such awesome service. Fine dining and we love the open bar at happy hour. Wow!
Beautiful hotel in a serene location with an onsen and close to câble car. The shuttle driver got out bags from Gora station and so we can start exploring before 3p check in. Same for when we checked out and they delivered our bags at the Gora station. Such awesome service. Fine dining and we love the open bar at happy hour. Wow!

Great location!! Loved the view and ambience. The onsen hot bath was a wonderful experience. The rooms and amenities were clean. Loved our stay, we really wished we should have booked our stay for couple more days!!

全体として満足しました。 強羅はちょくちょく行くので、また行きたいです。 部屋 リニューアルされていて清潔で、寝具やアメニティーの質も必要十分です。 スタッフの方 ベテランはいい意味で肩の力が抜けた接客。 そつは無いものの痒いところに手が届くような気配はしない感じが、不快でもなく自分は好き。 一部の若い方はまだ堅い感じでしたが、それはそれで普通なのでこちらも良いと思いました。 食事 朝食だけ食べました。 50代以上がメインの客層らしく、量はやや控えめ。 味はホテルのランクを考えて想像していたより遥かに美味しい。 ビュッフェ形式ではなく、丁寧に調理されたアメリカンブレックファーストを温かい状態でサーブしてくれます。 セルフのサラダも野菜が新鮮でドレッシングもオリーブオイルの香りが立って美味しかった。 オニオンスープや淹れたてコーヒーも美味しい。 (晩ごはんは事前予約が必要) ラウンジ ロビーとそこに隣接するベランダで、外の景色を眺めながらビール、スパークリングワイン、リカー類、ジュースや炭酸など自由に飲めます。 天気がいいと大文字焼きの「大」が良く見えるので、明るいうちにチェックインすることをおすすめします。 バー 今回行きませんでしたが、こちらもフリーフロー(飲み放題)ができるそうです。 温泉&サウナ 浴室も露天風呂もこじんまりしていてリニューアルされておらず鄙びた感じ。 お湯は大涌谷から引いた濁り湯で強羅っぽくていいと思います。 小さなサウナがありここも鄙びてるが、こっちは新しくして欲しい。

onsen was very nice. the breakfest was western style and not buffet. the parking is free and can fit a large car. the building is very old but it is kept very clean it is very nice. they also had a good TV that offered netflix which is hard to find. we also got a massage, and it was fantastic.
