Hotel Villa San Carlo was a disappointment. The hosts are exceedingly nice, but the hotel itself is in dire need of an update. Nothing has been done in 20 years. The beds are wildly uncomfortable, the bathrooms less functional from the shower cabins to the 20 year old hair dryers. Air conditioning works sometimes, WiFi is sketchy and the breakfast is severely lacking. Even for Italian standards. The same sad hard boiled eggs came from the fridge 3 days in a row.

This is a veritable gem of a place, surrounded by the fabulous Piedmont scenery wherever you turn. Carlo, his wife and their team were superb, a warm and friendly welcome, and nothing seemed too much trouble. The hotel facilities are good, with everything you might expect in the room, and the bonus of a beautiful peaceful garden and terrace, where meals can be served, and a lovely pool. But, above all, the food produced by Carlo almost defies description! It is simply, in my view, just of the highest possible standard and, moreover, makes full use of locally grown produce. Unequivocally recommended.

Most amazing meals! Great value! The hair dryer and electric outlets were not great but we managed. Staff is so friendly and accommodating. Very clean considering it's age. The wine list is out of this world. Top notch Chef Carlo wears tons of hats with total elegance. He is a fantastic sommelier, host, chef, bell hop, concierge etc etc. Such fabulous personal service. It was a real treat!
