Nice place to stay. I stay here with a colleague, we have very different experiences. Mine however was very nice, room was really nice. Nice bar but England game was on so very busy.

Nice room, Unmanned reception, Treck to car park past abandoned furnature and beer barrels not good. No bath sheet in bathroom , which made my morning shower a bit interesting.

Great owners, the bar had a great atmosphere and was olde world beams etc. didn't do breakfast currently but evening food looked good. a great award winning butchers opposite fir scotch eggs sausagdcrolls and pies, Costa and a co op.

Bed sheets clean but mattress needs updating springs gone. Bathroom tired Bath with shower head very poor head came off in hand broken does not screw together And water pressure none Plumbing needs updating I had to was what I could in sink as water trickle out. Bad night sleep due to bed and train track next door. Parking bad for tall vans as height restriction had to park in public car park

Pretty building from the outside, bit of an outdated vibe in the bar ("humorous" pictures with alcohol related slogans, Only Fools & Horses posters etc. My room was clean ish, couple of cobwebs and little bit of black mould in the bathroom. Mattress was very uncomfortable. Bath had damaged taps (see pic). One thing that I found odd: my colleague and I booked the same type of room, costing the same, an hour apart. He wound up in a room with a four poster bed and a huge bath, I got something similar to a cheap motel. Oh well. I'll probably try another hotel when next working in the area.

Room was too hot with limited window openings. No Wi-Fi in room. No phone service or data service in room. Next to train line with services running at least 2 times per hour. They did at least stop during the night. Shower was functional but a more elderly person would definitely slip and fall in the bath if they used the shower.

I am 6ft 4 and was placed in attic with sloping ceilings and beams kept hitting my head shower room and bathroom very poor, no head board on bed due to slop of roof so pillows kept falling down the back I have stayed here before and found it to be good value for monie but on this occasion it has made me question of I should look elsewhere

Noisy neighbour with very thin wall to next bedroom. Lady at reception was happy to move me to a similar room with no fuss. My one gripe was that at two times during booking, a ‘free breakfast’ was mentioned. This was not the case at the hotel. Finally managed to get a partial refund from Hotels.com but not before a lengthy back and forth online. Beware if the advert says ‘free breakfast’, because there probably isn’t!

Absolutely horrendous - sleep deprivation torture! How on earth can they charge such extortionate rates (without breakfast)? There was no point in the curtains as they were tissue thin, and my room was next to the busy London railway line (a few metres away) – everytime a train went passed the room would vibrate and the trains were constant through the night. The room was small, cramped and dated. I can honestly say this is the worse place by miles I have ever had the misfortune to stay. Never again!!

For £61.50 a night in this area it is cheap, but beware that is what you get. I have stayed here many times but avoid rooms 5 and 6 as they are in the eves and bathrooms are of a very low standard other rooms much better. Good value for workers but would not stay here for liesure.

The property can do nothing about the railway noise and we knew this before we booked the room but the mattress on the bed was rubbish. You can feel every spring and we didn't get a good night sleep. The bed also sloped, with our feet higher than our head, making it uncomfortable all round.

As a well known brand advertising a hotel room we trusted you . However we will think twice about using your company in the future . We arrived at the hotel at 245 asked to check in and was told we could but it would be a £15 charge for the extra fifteen minutes . We came back and checked in and given our room key . The room was at the top of the property with lots of stays to get to it which is fine but not that we were made aware of, The room was small but only a bed for the night so not a problem . On returning back to the room last night it felt like lying on a camp bed. The room was boiling hot and next to the railway line so we spent all night listening to the trains go by as the room window had to be left open . By 5am we had had enough and left to go home . Will not be returning and would not recommend to anyone else and will look for another hotel provider in the future

The worst value for money in 1000+ stays in my life, however they have the cheek to charge £97 (and no bfast) High speed train going past every 20mins, windows that wouldn’t shut, hot water tap scalding water, shower no regulator, and a dribble of water. Very old, very tired, a number only to ring at reception as no one on the desk to complain too! Person on phone was French (I believe) wouldn’t even give his name! Only saving grace was clean linen! I stopped in the elephant hotel 50m away on my last visit @ £68 per night (but booked up) and it was fantastic value. Avoid The George Hotel like the plague!!!!

I felt it was expensive for the standard of the room. We only saw one member of staff who was extremely pleasant, but all she did was book us in and tell us where to go for breakfast.

Staff are very friendly including the restaurant staff. This hotel represents good value for money and is comfortable. You can hear the trains in certain parts of the hotel which is mentioned in the hotel description, we stay at the weekend so it wasn’t really an issue but during the week I would opt for a room at the other side of the hotel which is clear when booking a room. If in the area would stay again.

Room was too hot with limited window openings. No Wi-Fi in room. No phone service or data service in room. Next to train line with services running at least 2 times per hour. They did at least stop during the night. Shower was functional but a more elderly person would definitely slip and fall in the bath if they used the shower.

Firstly, staff were really friendly and check in was easy. However, the single room had a very small bed. I’m 5’11” and I did not fit in the bed or the quilt. More of a child’s bed. The hotel is on the main road, and the traffic was incredibly noisy - woke me up at 5am. The food was terrible, and incredibly expensive. Nearly £20 for a pizza that looked frozen.

The property was value for money I bit oldie worldie. the breakfast was very nicely served.in a lovely village the only fault was its right next to the main London Train Line and the noise from the trains can make your room shake our room was 27.

As a well known brand advertising a hotel room we trusted you . However we will think twice about using your company in the future . We arrived at the hotel at 245 asked to check in and was told we could but it would be a £15 charge for the extra fifteen minutes . We came back and checked in and given our room key . The room was at the top of the property with lots of stays to get to it which is fine but not that we were made aware of, The room was small but only a bed for the night so not a problem . On returning back to the room last night it felt like lying on a camp bed. The room was boiling hot and next to the railway line so we spent all night listening to the trains go by as the room window had to be left open . By 5am we had had enough and left to go home . Will not be returning and would not recommend to anyone else and will look for another hotel provider in the future

Noisy neighbour with very thin wall to next bedroom. Lady at reception was happy to move me to a similar room with no fuss. My one gripe was that at two times during booking, a ‘free breakfast’ was mentioned. This was not the case at the hotel. Finally managed to get a partial refund from Hotels.com but not before a lengthy back and forth online. Beware if the advert says ‘free breakfast’, because there probably isn’t!

Stay was ok but very disappointed we paid for breakfast when booking as it was included in the price and was told by the manageress/owner that breakfast was not available and was not included in the price. Had we known this when we booked it we would have booked elsewhere. This is a clear breach of the trade description act and is in violation of advertising standards as well as being deceitful and dishonest.

Arrived at 8pm on Monday 29th May. The hotel bar and restaurant were closed. the whole place was empty. strange for a holiday Monday in summer. Will not stay again

Great owners, the bar had a great atmosphere and was olde world beams etc. didn't do breakfast currently but evening food looked good. a great award winning butchers opposite fir scotch eggs sausagdcrolls and pies, Costa and a co op.

Hotel was comfortable and clean. Food in the bar was very good and breakfast was excellent. Staff were very professional especially the young lady that served breakfast every morning.

Historisk hotell med sjel. Akkurat det vi ønsket da vi på vår reiste valgte små byer og mindre hoteller. Vi valgte et økonomi dobbeltrom og det var et veldig enkelt lite rom. Rommet og badet var rent. Veldig dårlig trykk på vannet i dusjen. Vi hadde rom nær toglinje.

Rooms could do with a upgrade. The bar from the pub served pints which were not cold, they were warm to be honest, we left and went to the Swam round the corner for food and drinks, much nicer. Free Parking round the back.

Lovely pub in a lovely area. On site parking. Room was incredibly hot as the windows were shut before we arrived (heat wave) there was a plug in fan which we used but the windows had wires on to restrict their opening so the room never cooled down. Bathroom needs updating, loose plastic sealing around the bath. We tried putting ice and some water in the bathroom sink to cool bottles of water but the sink plug didn’t seal properly. Beds ok and extra pillows provided which was great. Location good. It is close to a train line, this didn’t bother us however it may some people. The door latch didn’t catch properly on the bedroom / landing door. Despite this, we would stay again!

Threadbare carpets, poor lighting, Shower was like a dribbling tap. The tap was worse. No hot water. Mattress was older than God!
