This place is a haven of peace, the hosts are warm and attentive, the private onsen is extremely relaxing, and the food is superb. Nothing more to say except don't hesitate to experience it. If i come back to Japan it's for sure a go to place !

If you are visiting Osaka area and want to experience authentic traditional Japanese lodging (ryokan) in an off the beaten path place, this might be the place to go. It's about 40 minutes away on a local train from Namba statiuon (Nakai Koya line). There doesn't seem to be much around the ryokan although we really didn't explore. We stayed in a similar property in Hakone when visiting Tokyo a year ago and it was a well known hot spring town so there were a lot more things to do. We stayed at a detached annex which had more than enough room for our family of four. Private outdoor hot spring tub and Western style indoor tub available, but weather was just too hot to truly enjoy the outdoor. We chose half boarding so had Kaiseki style dinner and also a traditional breakfast. Nothing much to complain except the futons were somewhat too thin so it was a bit rough on my back. Other than that, it was a nice stay. Outdoor common swimmng pool was not open yet in the beginning of July so be aware.

We stayed at the private Onsen room in the little house off the main building, and it felt very authentic. Service was superb Gary was very helpful and sent us on a beautiful walk the next day. The traditional Japanese meals were an experience on their own, but the private Onsen, and the beautiful grounds were the highlight of our stay.

역 바로 앞에 있어서 전철로는 편하지만 차량을 끌고 가기는 힘듭니다. 별개로 료칸 자체는 충분히 만족했습니다. 음식도 맛있고 직원들도 친절하고 영국인 직원도 있어서 일본어 영어 어느쪽도 가능했습니다. 다만 온천이 상당히 작은 점은 다소 아쉬웠습니다. 보통은 혼자만 사용하기에 괜찮지만 종종 다른 객실 손님과 같이 들어가기엔 눈치가 조금 보입니다.

Enjoyed our stay at Amami Onsen Nantes-en. Convenient location right next to train station. Friendly, professional staff. Large, traditional Japanese room with comfortable sitting area overlooking lovely garden. Dinner in room was delicious, server top notch. Breakfast in main dining room was also excellent. Small onsen overlooking forest very peaceful. If you’re uncomfortable being naked in a large hot tub environment with strangers this may not be for you. I also had a restless night sleeping on the futon, but my wife slept fine. One night was enough for me but I’m glad we got to experience a traditional Japanese ryokan.

Staff was wonderful! Helped with all our luggage and gave a comprehensive overview of the facilities and our amenities. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. We reserved the private outdoor onsen and it was everything we wanted/needed to relax after five days in Tokyo. The dinner and breakfast was excellent! The pacing of the meals as well as the clearing of used dishes felt very relaxed and natural. We did not feel rushed at all. We will definitely come back in the future and stay multiple nights!

初めて宿泊しました。知人からも良い宿だよという話を聞いていたのと、夏季はプールがあるということで楽しみにしていました。天見駅から徒歩30歩という近さ。車だとわかりにくいかも知れません。地の利があったので、多少迷いましたがいけました。 サービスはほんとに古き良き日本という感じです。部屋はザ和室!レトロで好きです。エアコンはきちんと着いてるし効きも良いです。夕食は部屋で、朝食は大広間でした。唯一気になったのは食事が出てくるタイミングです。2時間かけてゆっくりゆっくりでした。お酒を飲むのならあの感じでいいのかなぁ…お料理は手が込んでましたし、あゆなどとても美味しかったです。プールは混んでなくて最高です。更衣室やトイレは古いですが、まぁこんなもんかなと。それよりも山の中で自然に囲まれゆったりとした時間の流れを感じつつゆったりと泳げます。 海外の方もいらっしゃいますし、関西の方も多いです。2024年までは日帰り利用もできるようなのでまた来たいなと思います。

趣のある建物で部屋もどこか懐かしい とても落ち着ける空間でした 昔のままを大切にされているので、部屋に洗面所やトイレがないという不便さも一緒に楽しむと割り切る お風呂は翌日9時までいつでも入浴できるので、他の宿泊客と被らずに1人のんびりと寛げました ゆったりした時間を過ごすのには最高の宿

L'accès depuis Tokyo est très simple et on peut accéder au ryokan en quelques minutes a pied depuis la gare. Le ryokan est une bulle de bonheur, calme, traditionnel, le jardin est magnifique et le onsen est top. Dîner traditionnel dans la chambre et le petit déjeuner avec vue sur le jardin est magique. On est ravis d'être venus, c'était parfait

Gorgeous traditional building complete with tatami floors, an onsen, and well-maintained grounds. Staying there felt like we were transported back in time (but with the modern luxury of AC during the hot summer). Amazing experience.

Beautiful property with delicious food and an incredibly helpful and friendly staff! One of the staff members even saw us rummaging through a bowl of flags for their "Where are you from" map and we casually mentioned that we couldn\'t find our country but it was alright, then left for a little walk around the property. When we came back, the staff member had printed it out for us! Little details like that show the staff pay attention and go beyond what is required to help their guests. Would absolutely stay again. Thank you!

일본여행 중에 마음에 들었던 곳 중 하나입니다. 장점 1. 상상하던 일본분위기 료칸 2. 온천욕으로 여행 피로 완화 3. 직원들이 친절하고 영어가 유창하신 분도 있음 4. 조식이 매우매우 맛있었음 5. 사람이 많지 않아서 여유있게 즐김 6. 아침에 산책 추천 단점 1. 욕탕에서 약간의 락스 냄새 2. 제공되는 유카타는 입으니 간지러워 잠옷 입고 잠 3. 가이세키는 기대했던 것보다 양이 적고 맛있는 음식보단 신기한 음식이 많음 전반적으로 만족해서 다음에는 가족들과 방문하고 싶음

오래 된 건 건물은 맞지만 잘 유치 되었고 그정도 청결은 정말 잘 관리한것 같아요. 저는 너무 만족했고 벌레 나온다는 리뷰도 봤지만 저는 없어서 좋았습니다. 하지만 확실히 방음은 약합니다 ^^;; 만약 1층에 묵으신다면 2층의 소리는 감안 하셔야 될것 같아요~저는 1층에 묵었습니다.

Lovely service. It is very traditional, unique food so may not be to everyone's taste. Due to having food in room, the room did smell for the rest of the stay. Cute village, easy to get to from train.

Enjoyed our stay at Amami Onsen Nantes-en. Convenient location right next to train station. Friendly, professional staff. Large, traditional Japanese room with comfortable sitting area overlooking lovely garden. Dinner in room was delicious, server top notch. Breakfast in main dining room was also excellent. Small onsen overlooking forest very peaceful. If you’re uncomfortable being naked in a large hot tub environment with strangers this may not be for you. I also had a restless night sleeping on the futon, but my wife slept fine. One night was enough for me but I’m glad we got to experience a traditional Japanese ryokan.

This was our first trip to Japan, ever, so we wanted to experience authentic and traditional Japanese hospitality, and what an amazing surprise we got. We rented the suite, which is the annex. You basically get an entire traditional japanese house, with a private onsen, all for yourself. From the moment you arrive to the ryokan, you get the warmest welcome you can imagine. You are taken to your guest house and introduced to everything around a house. They provide you with Yukatas so you can feel comfortable. For dinner, they come and serve you like a 5 or 6 course meal (I can't remember exactly how much they were), fully authentic seasonal japanese food. Once you are done, they come pick up the food from your dining room, and set up the futons were you will be sleeping, really comfortable futons. By morning, they come and serve the breakfast and store the futons. Did I mentioned the amazing private onsen all for yourselves? What an amazing experience onsens are. Now I understand why it is so embedded in Japanese culture. The only thing I regret is not staying another night, since we had a very tight Japan schedule. But if you ever go to Japan, at least once stay in a traditional Ryokan to enjoy tradition. And I cannot emphasize how great a decision would it be to choose Nanten-en. And if you can afford the suite, go for it. It is something you need to experience once in a lifetime at least.

it was totally good!! nice service, garden food was included in the price water was warm and cozy to relieve the stress.. but bathroom was not in the room it was the only bad thing about this hotel

I love how accommodating the staff was here. We were nearly an hour late for our dinner but they went above and beyond to serve us anyway. The food was one of the best we've had throughout our entire trip of Japan as well. The room and atmosphere was also very cozy and we loved pretty much everything!

오래 된 건 건물은 맞지만 잘 유치 되었고 그정도 청결은 정말 잘 관리한것 같아요. 저는 너무 만족했고 벌레 나온다는 리뷰도 봤지만 저는 없어서 좋았습니다. 하지만 확실히 방음은 약합니다 ^^;; 만약 1층에 묵으신다면 2층의 소리는 감안 하셔야 될것 같아요~저는 1층에 묵었습니다.

An incredible experience from the moment you enter. The welcome greetings and experience with the entire staff is amazing. They are incredibly welcoming and genuine. The rooms are very traditional Japanese and are gorgeous. The food is excellent and the service of the food is really unique and incredible with dinners in your room. Staff was wonderful! Helped with all our luggage and gave a comprehensive overview of the facilities and our amenities. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. We reserved the private outdoor onsen and it was everything we wanted/needed to relax after five days in Tokyo. The dinner and breakfast was excellent! The pacing of the meals as well as the clearing of used dishes felt very relaxed and natural. We did not feel rushed at all. We will definitely come back in the future and stay multiple nights!

Absolutely wonderful place to stop on the way to Koyasan. I will admit when I showed up at the inn I was later than expected, had walked many miles, and was in quite a bad mood. The welcome I received changed all of that. They took me straight to my room and gave me tea and treated me like I was part of their family. I had the best meal of my time in Japan at this inn. The onsen was the perfect temperature and felt so good on my sore muscles. If you are maki my the journey to Koyasan this inn is a fantastic place to stop. The town is full of history and the staff were so kind to me even though I was dirty and sweaty and tired. I left feeling clean and refreshed!

사전예약 시 메일을 통해 준비음식에 대한 자세한 설명을 들었습니다. 또한 체크인 시 친철하게 응대해 주셨고 설명도 자세하게 해 주셨습니다. 시설이용에 큰 불편함이 없었고 차도 넉넉하게 마셨습니다. 료칸 이용 후 피부가 상당히 깨끗해진 것 같아 여쭤 봤더니 라돈 함유량이 많아서 그렇다고 합니다. 특히 온전 이용 시 창문을 열어 시원한 바깥 공기도 마음것 마실 수 있었습니다. 다시 한 번 친절한 직원 분들께 감사드립니다.

If you are visiting Osaka area and want to experience authentic traditional Japanese lodging (ryokan) in an off the beaten path place, this might be the place to go. It's about 40 minutes away on a local train from Namba statiuon (Nakai Koya line). There doesn't seem to be much around the ryokan although we really didn't explore. We stayed in a similar property in Hakone when visiting Tokyo a year ago and it was a well known hot spring town so there were a lot more things to do. We stayed at a detached annex which had more than enough room for our family of four. Private outdoor hot spring tub and Western style indoor tub available, but weather was just too hot to truly enjoy the outdoor. We chose half boarding so had Kaiseki style dinner and also a traditional breakfast. Nothing much to complain except the futons were somewhat too thin so it was a bit rough on my back. Other than that, it was a nice stay. Outdoor common swimmng pool was not open yet in the beginning of July so be aware.

역 바로 앞에 있어서 전철로는 편하지만 차량을 끌고 가기는 힘듭니다. 별개로 료칸 자체는 충분히 만족했습니다. 음식도 맛있고 직원들도 친절하고 영국인 직원도 있어서 일본어 영어 어느쪽도 가능했습니다. 다만 온천이 상당히 작은 점은 다소 아쉬웠습니다. 보통은 혼자만 사용하기에 괜찮지만 종종 다른 객실 손님과 같이 들어가기엔 눈치가 조금 보입니다.

Wonderful place to stay, so authentic, peaceful, back in time. The staff is extremely kind, the food is refined and delicious. The Onsen (hot baths) is divine. The property and surroundings are beautiful and steps away form the train station. I absolutely recommend this stay while in Japan, it will be a memorable souvenir.

Lovely service. It is very traditional, unique food so may not be to everyone's taste. Due to having food in room, the room did smell for the rest of the stay. Cute village, easy to get to from train.

初めて宿泊しました。知人からも良い宿だよという話を聞いていたのと、夏季はプールがあるということで楽しみにしていました。天見駅から徒歩30歩という近さ。車だとわかりにくいかも知れません。地の利があったので、多少迷いましたがいけました。 サービスはほんとに古き良き日本という感じです。部屋はザ和室!レトロで好きです。エアコンはきちんと着いてるし効きも良いです。夕食は部屋で、朝食は大広間でした。唯一気になったのは食事が出てくるタイミングです。2時間かけてゆっくりゆっくりでした。お酒を飲むのならあの感じでいいのかなぁ…お料理は手が込んでましたし、あゆなどとても美味しかったです。プールは混んでなくて最高です。更衣室やトイレは古いですが、まぁこんなもんかなと。それよりも山の中で自然に囲まれゆったりとした時間の流れを感じつつゆったりと泳げます。 海外の方もいらっしゃいますし、関西の方も多いです。2024年までは日帰り利用もできるようなのでまた来たいなと思います。

처음 접하는 일본 가이세키 훌륭했습니다만 온천탕은 생각보다 작았고 주변엔 즐길거리가 전무합니다. 여행중 하루가 호텔말고는 즐길 수 가 없으나 일본 문화를 즐기는건 정말 좋습니다

L'accès depuis Tokyo est très simple et on peut accéder au ryokan en quelques minutes a pied depuis la gare. Le ryokan est une bulle de bonheur, calme, traditionnel, le jardin est magnifique et le onsen est top. Dîner traditionnel dans la chambre et le petit déjeuner avec vue sur le jardin est magique. On est ravis d'être venus, c'était parfait

조용하게 힐링할 수 있는 료칸입니다. 직원들의 밝은 미소와 친절이 인상적입니다. 일본식답게 정갈하고 맛있습니다. 국이 많이 짜드라고요. 스끼야끼는 양도 많고 맛납니다. 조식과 석식 추가 추천합니다. 자전거 하루 천엔인데 동네 한바퀴도 좋았습니다.다음에는 스페셜룸으로 예약후 재방문하고 싶습니다.

初めて宿泊しました。知人からも良い宿だよという話を聞いていたのと、夏季はプールがあるということで楽しみにしていました。天見駅から徒歩30歩という近さ。車だとわかりにくいかも知れません。地の利があったので、多少迷いましたがいけました。 サービスはほんとに古き良き日本という感じです。部屋はザ和室!レトロで好きです。エアコンはきちんと着いてるし効きも良いです。夕食は部屋で、朝食は大広間でした。唯一気になったのは食事が出てくるタイミングです。2時間かけてゆっくりゆっくりでした。お酒を飲むのならあの感じでいいのかなぁ…お料理は手が込んでましたし、あゆなどとても美味しかったです。プールは混んでなくて最高です。更衣室やトイレは古いですが、まぁこんなもんかなと。それよりも山の中で自然に囲まれゆったりとした時間の流れを感じつつゆったりと泳げます。 海外の方もいらっしゃいますし、関西の方も多いです。2024年までは日帰り利用もできるようなのでまた来たいなと思います。

음식은 맛이 없고 주변에 마트같은것들이 하나도 없기때문에 도시에서 미리 음식과 컵라면 등을 좀 사가는게 좋을 것 같아요 시설은 정말좋아서 잘 쉬다갑니당

L'accès depuis Tokyo est très simple et on peut accéder au ryokan en quelques minutes a pied depuis la gare. Le ryokan est une bulle de bonheur, calme, traditionnel, le jardin est magnifique et le onsen est top. Dîner traditionnel dans la chambre et le petit déjeuner avec vue sur le jardin est magique. On est ravis d'être venus, c'était parfait

I love how accommodating the staff was here. We were nearly an hour late for our dinner but they went above and beyond to serve us anyway. The food was one of the best we've had throughout our entire trip of Japan as well. The room and atmosphere was also very cozy and we loved pretty much everything!

It is wonderfully secluded but means you’re in the middle of nowhere with nothing nearby. Also, the pool was closed!!! It’s advertised as “seasonal” but closed in mid July….. As the onsens are split by gender, there’s no activities for a male/female couple to do together. That said, dinner was excellent!

The surrounding area and garden were beautiful. The hotel is located just a minute from the train station which is very convenient. In addition the service was great. Parts of the property would however benefit from a refurbishment, although every surface were clean. The traditional food sure was interesting.
