The room was very clean but the carpet in the lobby could have been cleaner. The staff was very helpful. There is definitely a parking issue at this hotel. I was hauling a 20 ft trailer and I was able to park my truck and trailer but not with ease. Overall I was very satisfied but perhaps the hotel website should indicate that parking is limited to vehicle with no trailers. The food at the restaurant and service was also great.

Clean properly on the Main Street. Some traffic noise, but quiet at night. Nice restaurant attached to Hotel and good breakfast. However if you are on the second floor there are no elevators. Staff do offer to carry your bags if needed

Welcoming efficient front desk staff, who kindly sorted out our reservation on our arrival, as I had mistakenly registered twice. Prompt friendly responses from staff throughout our stay. The same hospitality coninued through the meal service in the hotel dining room. excellent food.

Reasonable price and very friendly service team in all areas...we had a main floor walk up with parking at the door... Clean and comfortable... great restaurant for breakfast and dinner!

This property was quite dirty. The lobby and staircase to the rooms was littered with dirt and had not been vacuumed in some time. They do not have an elevator so my husband had to carry our bags up two flights of stairs. The rooms are surface clean but require a deep cleaning and an overall refresh with new floor covering and paint. We wouldn’t recommend staying at this property.

I understand this property is older!!! BUT it’s still could’ve been better…maybe a little manual labor…like clean the hotel, maybe some paint! property was very dirty and dingy. I walked the hallway to get ice, and talk about gross…I don’t think that hallway has seen a mop! Flies frozen in my ice cubes. Beds literally have body swells… you can literally see where a human actually laid, and it doesn’t surface back to be flat. Room had a musty smell. Please pick a different hotel!!!! I rather have slept in my car!!! Only if the people could see the back hallway…I beat they would NOT eat there. So glad we found a different restaurant to eat and get away!

They really, really need to replace their carpets. They are filthy. In the rooms and hallway. Ours was torn. It was a big tear. It is not a comment on the cleaner. They couldn’t fix that. It is my second stay here. The last room had dirty carpet as well. Their staff are lovely and helpful.

The room was not overly dirty but smelled very musty. There was mold in the bathroom and the water came out brown and even after running it for awhile it did not come clean. The bathtub did not drain for a very long time. It was a disappointing stay for the amount of money.

Very disappointed in the cleanliness of this hotel. For the price we expected more. Garbage left out in hallways, old carpets, dusty. Place needs a food clean and some upgrades. Staff were very friendly.

The room had a strong smell of bleach. There was red (hopefully ketchup) splatter on the walls in multiple spots. The desk chair was in very rough condition. The heat pump was very loud. The remote did not have a back on it nor was taped to cover the batteries. Customer service was very kind. The restaurant was delicious and love th new menu. Love that breakfast is included. Love supporting local and want to continue staying here. Would like more attention brough to the rooms.

The front desk staff were very accommodating and polite, including offering to lift my bags in from my car. When we entered the room, there's where our main concerns and complaints reside. On the walls, poorly repaired and maintained on top of weird stains. The mattress was comfy, but there was numerous stains on the pillowcases, and blankets. Entering the bathroom, the rear door of the bathroom was really rusted. For what we paid for the room, we thought it would've been some quality, but my S/O didn't feel comfortable to reside nor sleep in the room. We also could hear some of the co-occupants of the hotel, but that's being a bit nit-picky. The all-included breakfast the day after was really good, including offering GF options with GF bread which tasted really good, and the staff again were amazing. If they can greatly improve the rooms quality and cleanness, we would've recommended this hotel, but it made us want to leave rather than stay as soon as possible.

Hotel is quite outdated and likely has new owners since all new reviews are poor. The room was not clean and we ended up going down to get new linens at 11pm when we found 3 long black hairs in one bed and a worm type bug in the other bed. They need experienced cleaners (likely wearing hair nets) and someone doing a quality check on the cleaners. Breakfast was good. Service at breakfast was also good.

overall it was fine, room was clean. Carpets in lobby and hallway is old and dirty. The bed/mattress was very soft but mostly lopsided (sunken on one side).

The on-site restaurant is great, nice selection and reasonable prices. The room and the outside of the building look really dated. I don't really like the drive-up motel feeling. The walls are paper thin and we could clearly hear the people in the room next to us having a conversation.

The receptionist was not particularly welcoming. We got a ground floor room on the left side of the building, and the smell from the sewer grate was being sucked into the room by the AC unit. I turned the AC off and that helped, but not fully. After moving in, we didn't want to try to get another room. We were only there for one night, so we endured it. The bathroom door had a strange vent on the bottom, but the bathroom had no active fan. If there was one, it didn't work. On the plus side, the king size bed was huge and comfortable. Breakfast was great. We felt safe there. I couldn't recommend it to friends who were traveling to NS. I had to wonder if they give less desirable rooms to those who book through Expedia and other programs that negotiate for lower prices. I hope not.

Stayed two nights as a launching point for a western Cape Breton adventure and then the journey back home to Quebec. The room was large and clean. There was an attempt to renovate the room we were in, but clearly on a budget. The electrical system was outdated and the TV had unreliable reception. The facilities are dated. The climate control was temperamental and could use a cleaning. I liked the bed but wasn’t a fan of the pillows. The staff were very attentive and courteous. The restaurants on property are good. It’s located a short walk from the “Main Street” and a 3 min drive from SFX university and the Transcanada.

Staff was attentive and friendly. Had a great chat with the waitress on things to do in Sydney, as that was were we were headed. Room was ok, only issue was the leaking air conditioner that was quicky attended to on reporting it to the front desk. Came in later in the evening, and were looking for dinner--had the Pizza from onsite whish was very good. Enjoyed the full included breakfast the next morning!

I had my room booked, and was contacted earlier in the day about what time I would be checking in. Considering check in was 3pm and it was only 1pm at this time, I explained I’ll be there after 3pm. Later that evening, as I’m on my way after visiting family for the holidays, I get a second phone call asking when I would be checking in. I explained I was on my way but it was the holidays and I was visiting. I think it was highly unprofessional to be contacted not only once but twice wondering when I was showing up. I’ve never had a hotel do this before. Then, I call from my room to the restaurant & the phone doesn’t work. I call back on my personal phone and am asked to hold. I wasn’t even put on a real hold, someone just set the phone down as I could hear the chatter still. 7 mins later someone hangs up the phone. I called back, explained I was just hung up on. It wasn’t until my fiancé went to get our food did we get an apology. Yes, the girl who answered wasn’t the one who hung up as a guy had answered and asked me to hold, but as a business, all staff need to be aware that you apologize on behalf of other staff sometimes. What I thought used to be one of the best hotels in antigonish gave me the worst experience.

Perfectly fine moderate 3 star property. Staff working the restaurant on site seemed a bit challenged even though there weren’t that many tables to serve when we there. Telling me you’re “just a runner” when i ask for a refill and then staring out to space for 10 minutes rather than letting the server know their table needs attending is just laziness. Front desk staff were pleasant and attentive. Morning staff at restaurant was pleasant. Food was fine as well. Public washroom was a shambles.

We came with our daughter to tour St. Francis-Xavier University. The Maritime Inn is a short walk to campus and was welcoming, clean and cozy (after the epic snowstorm). Wonderful accommodation in lovely Antigonish. I highly recommend it.

The hotel was fine' however hotel staff call me two days before the date to ask me at what time i would come in, then at 7 of the reversation time to ask me again if i would really come, i did not appreciate this type of harrasment! Never saw that before

Reasonably priced for a hotel in the middle of downtown, within walking distance of restaurants and bars. Breakfast was included at the adjoining restaurant and was excellent. Not fancy, but excellent value for what we paid. Would definitely stay here again.

This is a pet friendly hotel, so be prepared for dogs barking at all hours. The rooms are spacious but average. The attached restaurant is good, especially if you like seafood. Breakfast, though, is busy on weekends.
