Hockley Valley Resort

The property was wonderful and cozy within a winter wonderland. We took advantage of the spa as well as the pool and hot tub. It was also wonderful to have a free shuttle to the neighbouring winery as we would not have explored that lovely venue without the shuttle.

The rooms are a bit dated and dingy. Musty and dirty mop water smell. Pool deck and tiles needed a cleaning. Spa was nice and food at Babo was good. Didn't use the shuttle service, but that's a convenient option. Hotel did accommodate an earlier check-in and late check-out, which was appreciated.

Excellent pool, hot tub and sauna.

The staff were so kind! It has so many amenities on site. Love the closeness to Toronto. But the property itself (the hotel rooms mainly) are kinda tired. Pool and patio are great.

I wish this had lived up to expectation for our 2-night stay over March Break. Unfortunately, for the price charged, it was underwhelming, clearly understaffed, and underserviced. One of two elevators was out of service for our stay yet we were given a room on the top floor (that wasn't ready at 3PM when we arrived-?), no housekeeping service was done on our room at all, the hot tub was out of service for our entire stay, and the main restaurant, Cabin 1865, was closed both days we were there. On our last night, the bar - our only dining option - was filled with daytrippers. We dined offsite. The spa also didn't appear to have any RMTs on staff; thusly no appointment availability. I noticed twice that the pool door had been deliberately hinged open and those using the pool/lockers were also not hotel guests. In the end, we appreciated that we were refunded the resort fees (at least!) as there were clearly no resort features to take advantage of during our stay. Again - it was March Break(!) and those visiting for the day were taking advantage of all the amenities that should be prioritized for paying guests! We appreciated the breakfast that was included and the facial I had at the spa was great. Then again, there too (at the spa) I booked a second, additional 50-minute treatment for me and my daughter on check out day and only got 35-40 minutes of the paid $400 service. Yes, we noticed! Not sure we'd stay here again; daytrip only for the slopes and maybe the winery!

Loved the setting and the area- close to hiking trails and the Adamo winery. Staff were helpful and friendly. Nice breakfast buffet. Easy to park.

Great spot for a getaway. Got the executive suite upgrade and the room was spacious with 2 bathrooms and 2 closets. The ensuite toilet was running the entire time which was distracting during the night but advised the front desk upon checkout. Ate at Cabin restaurant and it was excellent - high quality dining. Breakfast buffet was plentiful. Pool and hot tub area were great but seating around the pool was limited after a few guests arrived with families. I would return and recommend to others for a getaway.

Pros: beautiful exterior property visually lush and well maintained grounds, good dinner, close free parking, comfortable and spacious room & bed (albeit dusty). Cons: the core issues we had with this property was in the apparent lack of professional oversight/management, which was reflected way too many times within our arrival window & overnight stay to ignore. It did not feel like a luxury resort stay from the moment we walked in the front door, which was too bad as we arrived with high hopes. Ie. smokers hanging out in front of main doors, despite sign saying “no smoking”, no one at reception for our check-in when we arrived around 8:15pm, I waited about ten minutes for someone to come out of a back room to ask what I needed. There were four kids running wild in an empty front reception/restaurant area. Were advised that someone else had been “seated” for our dinner reservation - so our dinner service took forever - 2 hours for appetizers/main (we understand they were “busier than expected”) but they should have been prepared for more staff on an August Long Weekend. The indoor pool area washrooms had a terrible stench of raw sewage, and indoor pool didn’t open until 9am, the outdoor patio area lights were turned off for the entire evening so we couldn’t enjoy any of the outdoor areas, the coffee maker in our room did not work. Other than the restaurant staff, the hotel staff were pretty much absent during our stay - which I believe is the core problem.

Great room and fantastic spa. Although it was crazy busy with March Break families, the hotel overall was quiet. Loved the location.

Room was drab…bathroom was not clean …didn’t make up the bedroom when we were out and left dirty mugs in the room. Breakfast was cold .. staff at the front desk were unhelpful and had a poor and unhelpful attitude .. was not worth the money … the property has definitely one downhill under current ownership

The area is nice. The hotel itself is extremely outdated. Lacked cleanliness. Its clear house keeping does not vaccum or dust as there were a lot of spider webs and spiders in the room. The floor i was on had the spa and the hallway was very musty smelling. Probably would not book again.

When we arrived, our heat wasn’t working and our room was freezing which took 45 minutes to fix. In addition to this, we went down to the pool and it was a huge mess, the lockers didn’t work, they had no towels, people were walking in with their muddy boots, and there were screaming children throwing aquatic toys everywhere leaving no space to enjoy the pool as it was well over capacity. It was absolute chaos to say the least. We also couldn’t eat dinner in any of the restaurants because everything was booked and since the roads were terrible and unplowed we could basically only get room service. However, when we tried to call to order dinner, nobody would answer the phone until I texted them and waited for them to call back. Our furniture and tv was also very outdated considering we got one of their best rooms. The tv didn’t have any smart tv functionality and the furniture looked worn out. The facility was also not kept in proper shape, and when we went to the ground floor to check out the game room there was popcorn all over the floor. The only reason I gave this a 2 star instead of 1 is they compensated us for our missed opportunity to ski (excluding rentals). We have been to many resorts all across North America and this was by far the poorest experience for us.

THE VIEW FROM OUR ROOM, BUT THE HOTEL HAD A TERRIBLE SMELL, ODOUR IN THE HALLWAY AND LOBBY, SEWAGE SMELL.

We had a great weekend at the resort recently. The room was lovely, the staff are friendly and helpful and the Globe restaurant and wine tours in the area were wonderful, including the one at Adamo. We had a small issue with drainage in our shower and they attended to it right away. The bathroom could have been a little cleaner in some corners. The hallways in some areas had an off putting smell. But overall, a wonderful stay. Great breakfast buffet, enjoyable spa services. A great weekend getaway.

surroundings of this property is excellent but rooms are quite outdated with old carpets and cobwebs in the corner make us feel uncomfortable. need lots of improvements refurnish the rooms.

The room has a terrible smell as it’s 100’ from septic tanks. We have enjoyed their restaurant on many occasions and the food was always excellent. We had to leave our home to a flood and the smell. First impression on the room, I can absolutely say that I would never stay here again and I definitely would not recommend it to my family, friends or business associates.

We were in a section of the hotel that is crying out for some renovations - the carpets are dirty and smell - the rooms smell. It’s time for an upgrade Hockley!

Shower in the suit did not have proper flow. The room was musty. Very aged.

Our stay at the Hockley Valley Resort was quiet, for the wedding we were attending and quite pleasant. The room was very comfortable although showing definite signs of wear and tear..... also the bath and shower area appeared renovated , we could have tripped over the wrinkles in the carpet. The check-in procedure could have been streamlined immensely. Although promised, check in staff neglected to notify us when our room was ready and we had to kill 3 hours in the restaurant prior to room availability.

Moved to a room withbalcony and ended up in the old section. Long walks to get to elevator thru a mazelike excursion tofrkm room. Shabby room condition, door to balcony required hard force to open and close as was filthy in the runners and like everytning required worrk. No fridge, no micro wave, and trying to get hell from frknt desk was impossible as the guy wasnt there once when i went down three times and calling of course was unanswred. With the exception of the manager who falitated the move the staff were either non existent or their attitude was one of superiority rahter than service. The golf course is spectacullar or the rating woukd be lower!

Nice property and friendly staff. It wasn’t busy but seemed noisy…dogs barking in rooms, lots of noise from outside room late into the evening and again early in the morning. May only affect rooms on the ground floor but didn’t make for a great experience in the evening. Adamo winery was excellent!

Rooms are very dated and in need of upgrades. Very basic.

The property is in need of a facelift. When you pay $400/night you have a right to expect a certain standard in the guest suites. The room we had was dull, dingy and well dated.

The spa is fabulous but outdated. I have been coming to the spa for 12 years and it’s looking tired. The staff however were top notch. The rooms are a bit dated as well and so is the carpet square in the elevator. The Cabin restaurant was excellent with fresh , local items on the menu. Again, the staff in the restaurant was fantastic.

We slept very poorly due to a very very loud air conditioner and room was much too warm to go without I have told the hotel about this they thanked me but offered no compensation for lack of sleep Resturant was also very mediocre

Our visit was during winter season, so from that point of view, the experience on winter sports was very good. The room can be improved/upgraded i.e. no usb charging connectors and not clock. Room was clean.

We were able to check in early for a wedding, but returning to our room after midnight was a disappointment due to a banquet taking place below our wing which kept loud music playing until after midnight. Then we had the pleasure of hearing a truck being loaded which woke me up again. Not at all what I expected for this resort. I will think twice before booking a stay at this hotel.

We had a wonderful stay at the property. We agreed that we had to come back again. The room was beautiful and the heated toilet seat was a bonus! The only thing was the front desk stay who checked us in was not very helpful and did not explain the amenities on site, even though the other front desk staff was explaining in detail to the other guest checking in next to us. Rather than that, we had a wonderful stay.

There was a delay in checking in, as the room was not ready. The staff indicated that we would receive a text when to obtain the key. The text never came. The room that was booked was not available, so they had to accommodate in another room that was similar. The fireplace did not work, despite numerous attempts.

Poor customer service nothing to make uo for indicident that happen

Adamo winery experience is very special. I broke a glass on my patio, and staff person was very kind and careful in cleaninig it up, even using a flashlight to ensure all specs of glass were removed. But I have written a review for management - service at front desk. hotel not busy, and they could have easily offered us a better room for minimal or zero expense as we displayed frustration. - there is an old portion and new portion. On Expedia you only get old portion - and nobody says. - A/C old and loud. - golf green lawnmower started at 6am. - coffee in lobby after I woke up was moved away from me as I was working. - Management has rationalized these comments, not represent any interest in listening or modifying behavior.

Staff were excellent. Food was outstanding! Nice amenity options. Room showed some wear and tear. Would be nice if they had a room with activities for older kids like pool/ping pong table etc. Spa is great. Would have like more pressure applied during my treatment as I didn't get out as much as I would have liked.

Your team (staff) are exceptional. I participated in a symposium where many folks where made to fill safe to express who they are authentically. Your staff welcomed us and made us feel seen. I thought you should know because that’s really important to have the ability to make people feel safe and seen. Thank you

We found all the staff from front desk to dining rooms and golf pro shop exceptionally friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and will certainly be coming back.

Balconies are dirty and rusting out. Staff was not attentive. Front desk unhelpful and not inviting. Outdoor space is boring.

Location was pleasant

The property needs some updating but it was a lovely, quiet place with picturesque views, the rooms were spacious and comfortable.

The resort is in a beautiful spot. The room was big and comfortable. We ate dinner at Cabin1865. Our server was exceptional and so was the food. We didn't get a chance to go swimming but the outdoor swimming pool looked really nice and inviting.

Did not like looking out at parking lot from window.But did get early check in.

I've been coming to Hockley regularly for years. Something new to learn this time--not all premier resort rooms have a sofa bed like in the picture, so make sure to put in the comments that you need one if you might have family come up in the middle of a stay. Also, the cable channels seem to get worse every time I stay there, but I guess the point is not to hang out in the room! Otherwise still the same amazing breakfast and beautiful location.

Lovely and quiet with beautiful views. Golf , walking and cycling trails beautiful spa and fine dining not to mention a unique estate winery nearby. Perfect getaway

Our room was very small and tv was over to the side so hard to watch. The food was not good except for the hamburger. The fettuccine amount could fit in palm of my hand with maybe 2 tablespoons of ground sausage and it was $25. We went into town to eat.

Property was okay, not outstanding. Dining menu was limited and overpriced. Room price was on the high end for what you get. Mini fridge didn’t work and no microwave.

I absolutely loved it there. Everything was perfect. The food at Cabin was so delicious. The chefs have put their heart into that food. The lamb...to die for. Also our server Craig was so good at his job! The soaps in the bathrooms were wonderful, always nice to have a)squeezeable bottles and conditioner! Would highly recommend.

Location and facility is very good. Food is beyond the family or older couple desires. A good piece of beef, chicken or salads would be much better. Limited to no options in food. Carry more domestic beer... We won't be back...holiday inn or Hampton rooms are bigger and just as clean
