This is a beautiful property near the Avenue of the Giants. The king plus bunk bed room was enormous. The style is like an early 1900's mansion/castle, the room decor matched, but it didn't feel at all run down or aged. The bed was very comfortable. It had a bunk bed in a separate room for my two kids. The grounds are just as amazing as the hotel. You can walk around and check out the river. We are a great breakfast on the huge back patio. Overall it was a magical last minute find during our road trip.

This historic Inn is beautiful and really cozy and charming with excellent service. The restaurant has good options, they offer a free tea service in the afternoon and free coffee in the mornings. Free parking the rooms are very well appointed uncomfortable with nice linens and towels. Beautiful views from every room of the surrounding mountains and river. Definitely a bargain! For the quality & the service levels.

The surrounding area is beautiful. The hotel is nice and historic. Guest service was poor and unprofessional. Our room was not ready even though we arrived at the designated 4 pm check in time. While we did not mind waiting a few minutes for the room to be ready, we were advised that it was ready until we asked. When we got to the room, it was was not clean. We asked for housekeeping to come but we were informed no one was available. The hotel gave us a new room but it wasn't very clean either as we found used dental floss from presumably the prior occupant. The hotel restaurant has very good food in a nice setting. Hotel charges a nightly resort fee but offers no amenities.

This is a well-maintained historic property now branded as a boutique hotel (when built in 1926, a resort for the rich and famous). Upgraded over the years, and has a really good restaurant and bar on-site. A bit pricey, and the added fees for tourism tax, fire district, etc. on top of sales tax was a little surprising (added almost $100.00 per night to the bill for a $350.00 room). Worth it for a special occasion, and it's located in the heart of the Coast Redwoods (groves a few miles north and south, and adjacent to the Julia Morgan grove - but check for entry status in fall and winter). Julia Morgan, btw, is a justly famous architect from the first half of the 20th C., and there's a house she designed in the grove. All in all a delightful stay. If you have time, and can mange, grab a pizza at the Lost Frenchman cafe in Redway 5+ minutes away. Definitely the best pizza my wife and I have ever eaten, hands down. Also fun exploring small nre=earby towns for shops and such.

Very quaint, historic hotel. Some updates to bathroom noted, but still small. Faint musty smell to the room, but i guess you'll have that with a hotel that old. Would be better without carpet. Enjoyed the complimentary brandy, added to the charm of the room

We had a fantastic stay. The hotel has so much history and is beautiful. Our room was spacious and comfortable. The windows opened to the dining courtyard, and we had a view of the river and bridge. We could also hear the live music from below. It was very relaxing. The room was very clean, with nice amenities. We also really enjoyed breakfast and dinner - delicious and well presented. The afternoon tea should not be missed - wonderful hot scones! We highly recommend this hotel and we hope to return.

The heat never warmed up the room, it literally only moved 1.5 degrees over night. The shower water was luke warm, added to a cold room. Bed was terrible and the linens are outdated and thin. I was also disappointed to find no tv after reading under the entertainment section there was satellite so I assumed there would be a tv.

Just spent one night. Room was large and had a great view, but windows were inoperable so was very warm. It did cool down in the evening, but we’d choose another (Terrace) room next time. Overall we enjoyed our stay. It’s a beautiful historic building.

The property charged me extra 30 dollars in taxes in addition to the property fee . So, I ended up paying $60 more than what I had already paid at Orbitz. On asking why they charged the taxes when I was already charged taxes by Orbitz, they said that those taxes were different and that I should check with Orbitz on why they advertise this way. Room was very small for the price. There was no TV in the room either. Bad experience.

Beautiful inn. Lots of little issues impacted our enjoyment however. Arrived at 340 but didn’t get into our room until 530 because they forgot to call us when the room was ready! (The new receptionist was very friendly when he found out) At check out they charged us again for taxes when our pre-payment included the taxes. They were reluctant to remove it.

Not a particularly motorcycle friendly staff. We pulled up to check in and a staff member immediately came outside and said that the parking area we were in was for people registering. I told him that’s exactly what we were doing and he said he didn’t see any luggage and I pointed out the two duffel bags strapped to the bike. Later they allowed two vehicles to park there all night. We were accused of smoking twice because someone below us was smoking a cigar. Rude staff!

This is a wonderful secluded get away near the Redwoods and right on the Eel river. I love the 1930’s styling throughout that makes it feel as though you stepped back in time. The staff was excellent and very customer focused and professional. As with any older building, there will always be a few things that just aren’t working exactly right. In my case this was the AC leaking a bit of water onto floor when running. However, the maintenance department jumped right on the repair when notified.

This is an historic old hotel but they have kept it in excellent condition while preserving the character. There is a beautiful outdoor area for dining either at the bar or dining room. The grounds were also beautiful and a great place to relax. We also appreciated the easy access to the Avenue of the Giants.

Staying at the Benbow Inn was very nice. We actually preferred it over our other stays at the Hiltons. Was everything perfect like new? No, but it was more specialin the way that we stepped back in time and history. Something America lacks greatly. We appreciated the kindness of the staff and the delicious food. walking the halls and exploring the Inn, seeing rhe old photos, walking out back by the Eel River listening to the soothing sounds of the water running over the rocks, added to our vacation stories. Definitely recommend to add this Historical Inn to your travels.
