Hotel very tired and lift still not working four weeks on from last stay. I had to wait 15 minutes for lift to get to breakfast. USB charge points in the room also not working which left me with a flat battery on phone. Not as good as other hotels in Sandman estate and needs attention.

Hotel appeared tired. Both common spaces as well as my room incl bathroom. The gym was a reason for choosing the hotel, due to a need to do exercises post surgery, but it was out of commission, which I wasn't made aware of ahead of the trip. Breakfast choices were of low quality: coffee, sausages, beans.

Restarting and bar were out of service so it was a temporary arrangement so not great. However room was good and it’s in a fantastic location.

On checking in we were informed that the Shark bar was closed. which is inside the hotel .and then told restaurant was also closed.if we had known we would have gone elsewhere as there was no facilities to use in the hotel.breakfast was served in the restaurant area.there was no knifes and forks left no glasses for drinks.certain foods had run out. there was only one yong girl at the resturant entrance which she couldnt really leave her post to help anyone requiring anything.so a bit of a let down this time .the whole experiance really

Hotel was great,have used it many times however no drop off point agreed with local council so many trips to paid car park ( 10 minute walk each way)to load & unload car.I was told at reception on arrival and husband was told this by employee as he sat in car waiting for me that he may get parking ticket.On departure from hotel i was told at reception, when i spoke about situation, that it depends each day if visitors get 20 minutes grace to load/ unload cars.There needs to be a sign at back door of hotel stating this as I'm sure that I'm not the only returning customer caught out by this.It becomes an expensive trip if customers have to pay a parking ticket on top of £17 a day parking fee

Hotel has no parking. Drop off point in the Google map doesn’t take to the right place. Q park is the nearest best option. Room big enough and clean. No a/c but fan is available. Mo was excellent at desk and helpful. Being a Platinum member on Hotel. Com and Mo being very helpful allowed us to do late check out. Thx Mo.

The hotel was nicely designed, and felt modern and smart. Staff throughout were very friendly and welcoming. The only thing I would perhaps comment on was that the hotel bar was incredibly loud during the evening. I appreciate that there is perhaps a desire to attract a football crowd, but it meant there was nowhere in the hotel to relax in relative peace and quiet.

This hotel HAS NO ON SITE PARKING despite what is stated in the Expedia listing!! Your only option is to park off site and pay £17/day. This is a discount from the £22/day that the garage charges, if you get your parking ticket validated at the hotel prior to leaving, and is a 4 minute walk to the hotel. Other than that, the hotel is nice within a short walking distance to many shops, restaurants/pubs and of course, St. James Park, where Newcastle UFC play.

Didnt look like it had been cleaned sadly. Bathroom had areas covered in dust, hairs in the shower and on the floor. Room was very warn. Booked it to be close to the stadium which it is great for and the check in and out was super easy. Two lifts probably not enough to manage demand with the number of floors. Very noisy from the stack till quite late but theres not much the hotel can do about that.

Room 707 was our room, the room smelt of drains and it was so bad we had a shower it made us smell like it and i had to go out and buy new clothes as ours smelt of it. Looking for a refund as it was the worst night ever

Check was very quick with little info given about breakfast etc. Room was run down and dirty, mould on windows, cobwebs across the roof and the sliding wardrobe door was off it’s runner so inoperable for us.

Upon entering our room there was an overpowering unpleasant smell. I returned to reception where the staff were very pleasant and helpful and was assigned another room which was better. It was a standard room at £126 not including breakfast. It was on the 9th floor and overlooked St James Park football ground. It was very compact with very little room between the bed and the wall. The noise from the events in the nearby Stack restaurants was very loud until midnight. Bed was very comfortable

Sliding glass doors for bathroom gave no privacy, sofa bed was very uncomfortable and tiny (shouldn’t count as a bed when we paid for three), window couldn’t open, shower and radiator temperature controls didn’t work. Disappointed by quality and photos were misleading. Would choose a different hotel next time.

The room was ok, dated and basic. The condensation on the windows is extreme. It lierally piurs sown to puddles on the window sill so don't leave anything like we had.

Great location right by St James' Park stadium. For fan of the football club, stay here is a must when visiting from another city. Pity there is no aircon in the room as it was hot when we visited. As we had the high floor, opening the window and gan in the room kept us cool.

This was a great venue for our needs. It was close to the facilities we needed to visit, with a good, clean, well presented environment, and a friendly supportive team running things. There could not be a better place in Newcastle, and possibly even in the country, for football fans wanting to catch the local team, and with the Magpies being mine, this was an additional boon for our stay.

Last minute (on the day) decision to stay overnight after going to an event at the City Hall. The male receptionist who checked us in (about 6pm) on 2 May 2024 was exceptional. Professional and friendly, and the call to our room after check-in to check everything was ok was an added bonus.

The guy who checked us in was lovely, other than that the staff in reception were either rude or unhelpful. We were given a complimentary late check out and the next morning two members of staff argued with us that we hadn’t. Didn’t end up paying for it but doesn’t feel like the customer is priority. During check in we had to wait a long time as the lovely guy was on his own. At least 3 staff members saw the queue and ignored it and left him to it.

I had a suite room 118. There were a number of issues during this stay. The check in was very slow with the que almost to the front door. There was no hot water in my room so i had to have a cold shower as i was going out after work. One of the taps did not work and was hanging off. A shelf in the bath room was only just hanging on and bound to fall off soon. I called the front desk several times but the call was never answered. I was told at checkin that breakfast was included with the room only to find out the next day that it was not included. I dont normally book breakfast but to be told you have it included but then dont was embarrassing when i got to the front of the que.

Great location and very accessible. Rooms were exceptionally clean, bright, with amenities. Shower room was lovely. The staff were approachable and cheerful. In particular Connor at Reception who went above and beyond in assisting us.

I want to mention Emma who was on reception when I arrived. Very friendly and efficient. I made a complaint as the room originally allocated was not suitable. She fully understood the issue and resolved the problem without any fuss even arranging for my luggage to be moved to the new room while I was out at dinner. Outstanding service

Good location close to St. James’ Park but can be a little noisy with traffic flow. Bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper. King sized bed was comfortable and nice bathroom with shower only. Tea and coffee making facilities and mini fridge was a bonus. Breakfast was good, with lots of choice, however I’m not a huge fan of the help-yourself buffet. We loved Stack opposite. Great little venue with wide range of food vendors. Nice for a bite to eat and a drink before heading into town.

Large room with good facilities. Good location. I had a room at the back of the hotel. The room looked out on what looks like a future development site. Not much to see but on the flip side very quiet at night.

This is a very nice hotel. However, we were on the Stadium Side on the 3rd floor and on Friday and Saturday evening the music from the St James Stack opposite was very loud until mid-might. If you want a quiet room ask for something at the back of the hotel!

A centrally located hotel. Great views of the city and you are able to access many local landmarks on foot. There are a wide range of restaurants on the doorstep too!

I have stayed at the Newcastle Sandman a few times while visiting in the past and have had a pleasant stay. This time however a new music venue oppostite the hotel very much spoiled our stay. The very loud music from there almost all day made it impossible to have a snooze when we checked in to the room after our long drive north, and then when we tried to get some sleep at around 9.30pm were completely unable to until the new venue opposite had closed for the night. The windows at the hotel are not very thick and dont fit very well and so we had no way of blocking out the continued very loud music. It is a shame for the hotel, as it is out of their control, but i will no longer be booking the Sandman for my visits to Newcastle.

This hotel HAS NO ON SITE PARKING despite what is stated in the Expedia listing!! Your only option is to park off site and pay £17/day. This is a discount from the £22/day that the garage charges, if you get your parking ticket validated at the hotel prior to leaving, and is a 4 minute walk to the hotel. Other than that, the hotel is nice within a short walking distance to many shops, restaurants/pubs and of course, St. James Park, where Newcastle UFC play.

The room was nice and clean . The staff are very pleasant. Breakfast was more than disappointing. No plates, bread , bacon or sausages. When it did arrive it was burnt to a crisp.

The room was cheap and clean BUT you could climb through the window in the hallway (which doesn't lock) and get into the room. There just doesn't seem to be any management, staff were pleasant but clearly demoralised. No need to worry Ive prebooked breaakfast. The worst breakfast I've ever had, inedible food, scruffy and dirty restaurant, glimpses of the kitchen don't offer any hope that anyone's washed anything this week. The cheapest ingredients across the board, sad offerings of days old ham and fruit and crimes against a buffet fry up. Just awful.

The hotel is located next to St James's Park, so ideal for going to the match, and across the road is the Stack, which is open to the public, and a fantastic experience with lots of street food booths and bars. Great atmosphere on match days but get there early. The hotel is comfortable but lots of external noise from the Stack. The breakfast at the hotel was disappointing, typical buffet selection but the the bacon, sausage, & black pudding was over cooked and tasteless. The reception staff were very helpful.

On checking in we were informed that the Shark bar was closed. which is inside the hotel .and then told restaurant was also closed.if we had known we would have gone elsewhere as there was no facilities to use in the hotel.breakfast was served in the restaurant area.there was no knifes and forks left no glasses for drinks.certain foods had run out. there was only one yong girl at the resturant entrance which she couldnt really leave her post to help anyone requiring anything.so a bit of a let down this time .the whole experiance really

Sound proofing of the room was abysmal. On the 6th floor and could hear every noise from the outside, including the ambulance sirens from the nearby hospital, regularly through the night. The hotel room was directly outside the lift, which had the loudest automated announcer I've ever heard. The bed was uncomfortable. The restaurant was closed, not told in advance and was a big party of the selection.

Positives- good location. Nice view of the stadium, by metro station, central, good-size clean modern room, tea facilities, microwave and fridge , very comfortable bed. Negatives- no air conditioning in room (they provide a fan but when it’s really hot in the summer it doesn’t work very well); breakfast area was not nice. Basically they put serving stations in their night bar/club with very basic food which shows no care for the customer experience. It wasn’t. Very expensive but if I am staying in a hotel Like this I would prefer to pay a bit more for a nice breakfast. It is very overpriced and we won’t stay here again.

Absolutely friendly staff. Couldn't fault them. The breakfast was disappointing as we got there around 0930, with still an hour to go but there was no bacon or eggs and the urn for hot water was so tepid we couldnt make a cup of tea

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Studio was perfect for us staying the weekend with our little boy and dog. Everything you need in the room and shower was lovely! Hotel very dog friendly. Perfect location for the football tour and walking into town. But also really quiet - I was expecting some noise in a large hotel in the middle of town but honestly it was super quiet. We were on the 5th floor. Car park is super close too. Will definitely return. Thank you!
