Stayed with wife and two kids in a deluxe Japanese style room with private bath. Hotel is situated on a beautiful property. Room was big and “fairly” clean. Understanding room was Japanese style it is still really out dated. Some walls marked up, toilet was yellowed from age. Amenities listed included shuttle from train. When we called to arrange shuttle we were told unavailable. Took over an hour waiting for taxi in the rain. Message to the property regarding this went ignored. When we arrived the restaurant was closed that day and no food or store nearby. When we woke up the restaurant was closed again so no food for the family. TVs are small and outdated, property claimed we could connect to streaming to watch English shows but it did not work, when we called the office they put a gentleman on that did not help. The view from the room and bath is very nice overlooking the river but that was really the only nice part of the stay. Bath was nice but they have re caulked it very messily which subtracted from any luxurious feel. Beds were comfortable in the room but not living room, blankets were duvets and quite nice. Overall, property has a lot of potential but we left unsatisfied based on the price and service

Very nice Royukan the sauna and hot bath were excellent and great for relaxing after a long and VERY cold day. Facility was a little beat up but probably because it’s been there for a while but it adds to its beauty. Could see the river from my room, had beautiful views of the mountain as well.

宇治川沿いの景色が素晴らしく素敵な宿泊を家族と出来て満足しています。 大浴場も男女入れ替え制の為、夜と朝の両方とも満喫し、嬉しい。 スタッフの方々が、とても優しい。 今時のホテルでは無いが、良き風情と宇治らしい趣のある良いホテルである。 コロナで大変であろうが、頑張って欲しいと願います。 宇治は食事処が少ないので、ホテルレストランの充実があれば、なお良いと思いました。 素敵な1泊、ありがとうございました。

A beautiful stay in a traditional Japanese ryokan. Room was spacious with floor table for tea. We had a spectacular view of the river and mountain. A quiet place away from the crowds. Spa was nice and relaxing with two hot tubs, one indoor and one outdoor. About a 16 minute walk to Uji Station. Hotel manager was nice enough to give us a free ride to the train station.

Beautiful location on the banks of the Uji River. The walks we took along the river with the lovely scenery and autumn leaves were truly memorable. Room was spacious, clean, comfortable and functional, and the balcony overlooking the river was wonderful. Really appreciate the hot bath after a cold day out. Location is near many places of attractions including the Byodoin Temple and shopping streets. Uji station is about 2km walk away. Would suggest posting heavy luggages to the hotel; we struggled with our luggage as we walked from Uji station to the hotel. Hotel staff were courteous and super helpful. They efficiently helped to post our luggages to our next hotel in Tokyo, arriving there the next day. Highly recommended.

The only thing is the property is not very clean. But it is part of it being old and a little under maintaned. Otherwise a wonderful choice. I stayed 2 weeks ans went to Kyoto everyday without any issues. Fantastic! Will be back!

朝食会場が5度と寒く、ヒーターをお願いした。パンが冷たくトースターで温めてくれとお願いしたが、無いと言われ固くて冷たかったから食べるのをやめました。お部屋が少し匂いがあり、慣れるのに少しかかりました。フロントの方は皆さん親切でした。

The hotel is located just next to the Uji River, and the view from our room is spectacular! The room is very spacious, the beds are comfy and there’s also a massage chair! The staff are extremely helpful and polite.

This is a wonderful ryokan. The building, location and room are great. we got the room with an partial open air bath and it was excellent. The staff was professional, kind and helpful. We felt very welcome even as foreigners. I do wish that expedia would list the schedule for the dining options because the Ryokan restaurants are only open certain days and require reservation so we missed out on dinner. It's a bit of a long walk from the train station but not terrible. It should also be noted on the expedia page that they will pick you up but you have to schedule 48hrs in advance.

I had a very pleasant stay. The staff was very friendly, the room was fantastic. The view and location was outstanding! My friends and I had many scenic photos in and around the ryokan. Also, the indoor bath was wonderful too!

Massive room overlooking the fast-flowing river. Can’t open the windows as it’s buggy. Expensive place, as it’s a spa. I really struggled with sleeping on futons. 10 minutes riverside walk to town past the shops for matcha stuff that cater to day-trippers. There’s a really good Starbucks very near, but ABC in town is best for coffee and cakes.

Understanding room was Japanese style it is still really out dated. Some walls marked up, toilet was yellowed from age. Amenities listed included shuttle from train. When we called to arrange shuttle we were told unavailable. Took over an hour waiting for taxi in the rain. Message to the property regarding this went ignored. When we arrived the restaurant was closed that day and no food or store nearby. When we woke up the restaurant was closed again so no food for the family. TVs are small and outdated, property claimed we could connect to streaming to watch English shows but it did not work, when we called the office they put a gentleman on that did not help. The view from the room and bath is very nice overlooking the river but that was really the only nice part of the stay. Bath was nice but they have re caulked it very messily which subtracted from any luxurious feel. Beds were comfortable in the room but not living room, blankets were duvets and quite nice. Overall, property has a lot of potential but we left unsatisfied based on the price and service

This is a wonderful ryokan. The building, location and room are great. we got the room with an partial open air bath and it was excellent. The staff was professional, kind and helpful. We felt very welcome even as foreigners. I do wish that expedia would list the schedule for the dining options because the Ryokan restaurants are only open certain days and require reservation so we missed out on dinner. It's a bit of a long walk from the train station but not terrible. It should also be noted on the expedia page that they will pick you up but you have to schedule 48hrs in advance.

I had a very pleasant stay. The staff was very friendly, the room was fantastic. The view and location was outstanding! My friends and I had many scenic photos in and around the ryokan. Also, the indoor bath was wonderful too!

If you want to have a quiet night at Uji, this hotel will be a good choice. It’s next to the Uji river and has a walkable distance to Byodoin and Uji shrine. Wish we have time to stay here for few more nights next time.

20 minute walk from train station to the property. No eating locations nearby, need to walk 20 minutes back to find a place to eat. Most places nearby close early, around 6pm, so it was a challenge to find places for dinner. The property advertises a steak restaurant but it requires a reservation. We had a lovely stay in Uji at this property. The service was fantastic! We loved the room, especially the personal onsen. We had an especially delicious meal at the steakhouse on the property, with an incredibly kind and attentive chef. Would definitely recommend eating there if you get the chance!

Also, the hallways and some common area could use some update. Breakfast was great for someone who loves Japanese breakfast. No other options on that. Don’t miss out on a restaurant that the hotel is attached to called Satori, amazing course meal. Would stay there again.

We only stayed one night- we had amazing massages, and an incredible Japanese breakfast. The room is as pictured, spacious and comfortable. The staff were lovely and helped us order a late Uber eats dinner. Stay two nights so you can explore the area (we didn’t have time).

We loved our stay at this beautiful ryokan. The surroundings are so gorgeous and peaceful being right next to the river. Our room was comfortable for our family of 4, and we greatly enjoyed the stunning and delicious kaiseki dinner. Email them directly to arrange the dinner as they also provided a kid version for our younger son. They were very accommodating and responsive to all our needs. I definitely hope we can return again!
