This place is right on the beach! It has its own parking and its own private area with chairs and hammocks. It is right next to a restaurant and on a Saturday night we could hear distant music (not from the restaurant). Suite 1 is spacious with just about a full kitchen, and the A/C worked well. Staff is really nice. Would definitely stay here again if we're looking for the energy of Tamarindo.

Dette var en fantastisk sted. 10 meter til stranda og med en privat area med hengekøyer, strandstoler og egne massører. Rolando og Katia gjorde at vi følte oss hjemme, de er så vennlige og behjelpelige uansett hva du trenger. I tilleg har du restauranten som heter det samme, men er en separat firma der Johny, Edgar og Signny vil servere utmerkede drinker og gjøre din opphold til det beste noensinne. Eneste minus jeg ser er parkeringen hvis du reiser i høy sesongen da gata vil være umulig å kjøre, men vi reiste i lav sesongen.

We had a wonderful experience! The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Our room was newly renovated, had a large bathroom with two sinks, and all the necessary amenities (AC, fridge, TV, desk) plus an ocean view. The property is amazing as it’s on the beach with a private space for guests that includes hammocks, lots of chairs, tables, and wonderful massage therapists who were on-site every day! Having a restaurant and bar on the property is also convenient. Making the experience magical was waking up to all the wonderful bird songs each morning and being able to watch the sunset every night…The only downside was that there wasn’t a purified water refilling station.

This place was perfect for me. I wanted to surf and not have to drive, and also its close to many good restaurants. They make a very nice latte and great food at the hotel restaurant. I would definitely come back again. The waterfront access was epic!

Loved being right on the beach, and access to hammocks, and having a little private place to sit facing the sea. Simple and comfy room. I recommend walking to Derecho Sagrado for an outstanding cup of coffee.

Great location, beautiful sunsets. The room felt like a tiny home and everything was great. The ac got so cold I had to turn down in the night. Bathroom has low ceilings so if you're over 6ft you might have an issue. They have parking but its very difficult to get in and out. Would recommend. Check out our video on the tube at cjtravel716

Great staff, proximity to the beach is amazing, location is perfect. I love this place, only thing is no pool but the ocean is right there and there is an outdoor shower.

The hotel is in a great place, right on the beach. Good a/c in the room, lovely sunsets, decent restaurant on-site. The only downside was that you have to walk through this corridor to get out or to your car, and it always smelled like the bathrooms that are there.

This was the cutest beach stay! We absolutely loved the beachy “surf shack” vibe (this was a good thing to us). It may not be for everyone, but it was perfect for my friend and I for a couple nights. It is very humid here and the AC worked great and we stayed cool inside. The room was very clean, however there is a noticable mild musty/moldy smell when you first walk in, so if you are sensitive to that just be aware. The staff were all very friendly and accomodating, included breakfast was very good, food & drinks were reasonably priced. On of our favorite parts was the walkability to shopping, brewery, other restaurants. It is right in center of all of that. Rolando’s communication with me weeks prior leading up to stay until check out was outstanding. He really goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome and comfortable. He helped arrange transportation for both my friend and I to the hotel arriving from different places. His attention to detail made a huge difference. I will definitely be back and will stay here again.

Das Hotel ist in einem schlechten Zustand, die Umgebung ungepflegt und es hat nach Abwasser gestunken. Das Frühstück war sehr spärlich!! Die Wäsche war grau und die Handtücher fransten aus! Im Bad kann man sich kaum bewegen, es ist zu eng! Es fehlt gänzlich an einem Konzept für die Ausstattung! Viele kleine Reparaturen sind dringend notwendig

We had the room. We could see and hear the ocean from our room, which was peaceful and beautiful. The hotel didn't have a pool but the ocean was 20 steps away. The staff were genuinely friendly and always willing to help. The AC worked very well. The bathroom was tiny but functional. It was definitely my favorite hotel during my trip.

If you are looking for a luxury hotel experience, look somewhere else. If you are looking for a beachfront place to crash in Tamarindo, this is it. We stayed in one of the recently renovated rooms on the second floor. This room looked much nicer than those on the ground floor.

The hotel is right on the beach and surrounded by shops, restaurants, and bars. The room was cute and quirky. The bathroom is extremely small and cramped… not appropriate for more than one person at a time… but that was the only real downside for us. The bed was large and comfortable and the air conditioner worked great! It was a great choice for us… we stayed 5 nights and filled our days with excursions and hanging at the beach and the many bar options close by.

An absolutely superb location in Tamarindo; directly on the beach, walkable to everywhere. Considering the location the room rates are outstanding, and free parking and WiFi are included. Rolando and the staff are fantastic; you feel like family! The older rooms are ready for updating (some rooms have been already); note that the bathrooms in #5, #6, and #7 are very tiny. We were planning our return the moment we checked out!

We celebrated my husband’s birthday at Playa Tamarindo early May. We were very please with everything related to Hotel La Palapa. It’s a treat to be able to stay at a beachfront hotel and walk to the beach. We were also pleased with Rolando the hotel manager. He was very friendly and gave us good recommendations. Ana, the cleaning lady was also wonderful. We hope to return someday soon. We live in CR, and our drive is almost 5 hours and this hotel makes it very much worthwhile. We had been in Tamarindo once in ten years and we had forgotten how beautiful and big it was.

Great hotel! The owner,Audrey, and the front desk man, Rolando, were so nice and accommodating! Very friendly. The room was clean and literally right in the beach. Even had a howler monkey wake me up one morning. Downtown is right outside the front door. The bathroom was a little tight though I would highly recommend

Great hotel! The owner,Audrey, and the front desk man, Rolando, were so nice and accommodating! Very friendly. The room was clean and literally right in the beach. Even had a howler monkey wake me up one morning. Downtown is right outside the front door. The bathroom was a little tight though I would highly recommend

Rolando was an amazing host and very accommodating. The real hidden treasure at this hotel was the STAFF. They were polite, helpful, and a pleasure to visit with. I highly recommend this hotel for it's location and the price. Already planning my next trip back to Hotel La Palapa.

Really awesome hotel in a perfect location - steps away from the sand but just private enough that you feel comfortable leaving things on the front patio. Staff was wonderful and accommodating!

I was met at the motel by Rolando, he was very hospitable, knowledgeable, he showed me around the grounds completely. Motel is central in the town , in walkable distance to many restaurants,shops . I would definitely stay here again. George

Loved being right on the beach, and access to hammocks, and having a little private place to sit facing the sea. Simple and comfy room. I recommend walking to Derecho Sagrado for an outstanding cup of coffee.

J’ai adoré ce petit hôtel adjacent à la plage. Proche de tous les commerces et les bars. Même sans piscine, l’océan est juste en face. Andreis offre un excellent accueil, il a le cœur sur la main, toujours prêt à aider ainsi que Rolando. Les serveurs sont vraiment d’une gentillesse incroyable, toujours souriants et même si vous ne parlez pas espagnol. Tamarindo offre une panoplie de restos d’excellente qualité, on trouve de tout et pour tous les goûts, c’est le paradis des surfeurs en plus. Par contre, il faut composer avec des prix dispendieux en haute saison! Si vous pouvez payer le plus possible en colons costa rica uns, faites-le! L’hôtel offre un service de restauration et la nourriture est excellente mais reste chère vs d’autres restos de même qualité. Le ménage est fait chaque jour. Si vous chercher un endroit rustique et simple, c’est LA place. Il y a parfois une odeur d’égoût dans la cour mais on l’oublie vite devant la beauté de l’emplacement. Bref, j’y retournerai avec plaisir.

Das Restaurant war teuer und schlecht wie viele andere auch in Tamarindo. Der Strand ist ok, man kann eine schöne Strandwanderung unternehmen. Ansonsten sollte man den Ort meiden und lieber in Samara ein paar angenehme Tage verbringen.

This was a great place, especially for the money. Right in the center of the beach and when you walk outside you are in the middle of all the action as far as walking the city. The bungalows are small but really nice. We had one of the upgraded ground floor rooms first two nights we loved (walls orange in picture). The last night we switched to another room that wasn't upgraded as not available and it was to small, knees pressed against bathroom wall when using the toilet, there was as step down in middle of room somewhat dangerous and removed space from room. The restaurant is very pricey but the food was good, especially the fried red snapper! Two for one drinks all day and nice lounge chair area is a plus. We walked entire beach and if I had to choose again from the beachfront hotels anywhere close to this price range in this prime location this would be the one

Our stay at Hotel La Palapa from the minute we arrived to the time we left was amazing. The location was central to Tamarindo and walkable to restaurants, shops & stores for groceries. The staff was so accommodating and friendly and made you feel so welcome. The restaurant and drinks were wonderful. Oh and the sunsets were beautiful!

This place was perfect for me. I wanted to surf and not have to drive, and also its close to many good restaurants. They make a very nice latte and great food at the hotel restaurant. I would definitely come back again. The waterfront access was epic!

We stayed in the ocean view, king sized unit w kitchen. It had a very confortable king sized bed and comfy chairs. It had a nice tv with Netflix. Nice art. Luggage stand and ironing board. Coffee msker and coffee. Of course, dishes and forks, knives, etc. My main complaint was that they promised free breakfast but breakfast didn't start until 10AM!! That's too late. We were gives 2 free drinks at the bar TOLD THAT WAS REPLACEMENT FOR BREAKFAST. Well, 2 cheap cocktails does NOT EQUAL breakfast for two. This was false advertising. This hotel has very nice rooms and is VERY well appointed. BUT, know that you may not get free breakfast as advertised. Call to check. Their breakfast hours vary by season. If you can wait you can wait till 10 am and eat breakfast but e a t quickly as checkout is at 11.

This Hotel is perfect for anyone wanting a beach front no frills stay at a good price. You walk out your room past a couple palms trees and hammocks and you are on the beach ready to surf or fish or take a walk. It's in prime location for restaurants and bars. The staff is very friendly and treat you like family. Each room is a little different layout and nothing fancy but there is air conditioning and clean sheets, its a place to sleep. The mini fridge is on the larger side so it will hold beer wine and some snacks. Room also includes a coffee maker, microwave, and hair dryer. Perfect place to relax!!!

Incredible property steps from the beach. They were super helpful and kind. We had our 18 month old with us and everyone was wonderful and sweet to him. The view is amazing. Great beach chairs right outside the room that are included in the price. The location on the main road in town is excellent too. Couldn't be any better!!!! We will be coming back.
