Hotel City Inn

We booked this hotel for one night — not intending to spend the night — because after checking out of our other hotel close to the ghats, we needed a place near the train station to relax before our nighttime departure. This hotel was a great choice because it was just across the street from the train station. Besides that convenience, it was a very good hotel! It had a welcoming lobby, was well staffed, and the rooms and bathrooms were very clean and comfortable. We also enjoyed an excellent lunch and dinner at the hotel restaurant. What’s more, my husband was able to work out in the gym — something he hadn’t been able to do in the recent hotels we stayed at. We were very appreciative of the general manager who was especially cordial, service-oriented, and helpful to us in several ways. If you are visiting Varanasi and want to sightsee, I suggest you find a hotel closer to the action on the river. However, if that’s not what you are there to do, this hotel is a good choice if it’s the part of the city you want. We recommend it!

Nothing worthy to mention

The updated lobby is the only thing nice about this place. Bathrooms looked they had not been cleaned in years. Public restrooms in lobby were disgusting. Waited one hour for simple fish and chips in restaurant, after all that waiting you would expect great food. Only about 9 pieces of fried fish was overtired and tasted nasty. Not a good experience at all.
