Hotel right in centre. Classic feel to it. Stayed in Barristers Suite. A really nice contemporary comfortable suite. Great food. Same menu in three of their restaurants but they have different themes. We used the spa and had the best massage from anywhere in the world. Highly recommended

Fantastic property! Exceptional staff, always ready to help. The spa was wonderful. Several dining and beverage options. The Library was fantastic both noghts we dined there and had live jazz music. Breakfast was included and was terrific! Coffee excellent! Room was clean, well maintained and decorated. The barhroom had a full tub and shower. Old hotel that has been lovingly restored/updated. We loved the atmosphere. One block walk to the main shopping street and bars/restaurant options. Nelson ia a beautiful town and the Anglican church was open and was breathtaking! Family owned hotel. We will be back!

Hotel is wonderfully renovated but retains it’s wonderful character. Staff are amazing. Parking is the only difficult thing to deal with. Ended up in the parkade at $12/day.

Has night club with live music in basement at a reasonable price. We stayed so we could enjoy BCDC tribute band but power went out in Nelson just as they were going to start. Disappointed but winter weather to blame.

We had a great time, the hotel was perfect! Clean rooms, friendly staff, and the restaurant had the most amazing food! There is a parkade right beside the building so parking wasnt an issue. We would happily stay here again.

The Front Desk Staff were delightful and very helpful. I loved the old eel of the Hotel while enjoying its modern amenities. The bed was wonderful and the room was exceptionally clean and welcoming.

The hotel was beautifully maintained. Our room was spotless, and the staff both in reception and the restaurant were top notch. They went above and beyond to make sure we had an amazing experience. The location is prime and I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. We are looking forward and already planning to go back.

We stayed in the Junior Suite and it was extremely comfortable. The bathroom is very well designed, the bed comfortable, and the sitting area nicely set up. Had a cocktail in The Library (highly recommend the Hemingway). We will be staying here again.

Deluxe Room, 1 Queen Bed, Multiple View (Small Economy Queen). this line from the reservation does not fully describe how small the room is. There are two rooms of this size in the hotel and they should be avoided. The only place to sit besides the bars/restaurants is the public lobby with the tour groups. A single person may be OK but two is one too many.

Great old hotel, in a perfect location for exploring Nelson. They have done a great job of preserving/restoring the period feel while also providing modern amenities. One small complaint is that the fridge in our room (like many small fridges in hotels) was noisy.

This is an old hotel with a lot of charm and the service was great. It is convenient to the walkable town. Our room was really dark and the TV was so old and tiny—almost like a computer monitor! Rooms could use an update to modern amenities, but they are clean and comfortable. The restaurant food was not good, but there are many other restaurants very close to the hotel.

Awesome stay at this hotel with a lovely historic vibe. Beds are super comfy, air conditioning was excellent and very quiet. Staff was very friendly, welcoming and efficient. Gave us great tips about the neighborhood. Can’t get much better a location for walkability in downtown Nelson.

The Hotel is beautiful, clean, and lots of fun history. The rooms were small but cute. We stayed on the 4th floor and our room was unfortunately very warm with little air flow.

The Hume is an excellent hotel. I was disappointed that breakfast was not included due to my having booked through a third party. If your margins with third-party bookings make the complementary breakfast un-offerable, maybe you should consider cutting your ties with the booking app. I was travelling with two friends, and I'll tell you this was a pretty negative issue for all three of us. I would like to particularly commend all of your front desk staff; just excellent, period!

The property was in a great location and had more than 1 restaurant/bar facility for convenience. I had a very unusual check-in experience however. When handed the key I was told that 'breakfast is served between x and x o'clock, however because you didn't book direct with us, this doesn't apply to you, you don't have breakfast. Also, your room will be noisy because you didn't book direct so we put you directly above the pub. Tonight is Thursday so it might not be that bad but tomorrow will be loud. I can move you but it will cost more. Also, here's your wi-fi code... it's "BookDirect"!!! And yes, I woke up at around 1:00am from the base of the music thumping below me on Friday night. Also, I wanted to hike Pulpit rock, a very popular local hike. I asked the front desk what the best way to get there was, and the clerk responded you can walk. I said it seems far is there no other way, she said it's only 40 min, the entrance is by Villa Motel, just across the bridge. I challenged her because that is not what Google Maps was saying. She assured me it was, and that Google Maps was showing me the top of the hike, not the entrance. So, I walked. The entrance was *no where* close to the Villa Motel. It took me 1hr 20 min to walk to the start of my hike! Then, after the hike, 1hr 20min to walk back. When I tried to politely explain to her how wrong she was she just chuckled and said she'd never been there. Why wasn't she honest at first, I would have asked someone else?

Hotel staff members were professional yet friendly and eager to ensure we had a great experience. We were impressed with everything from the very comfortable mattress on our bed to truly excellent dinners in The Library restaurant and lounge. They warned us that the rooms sometimes may not be super quiet due to the hotel's downtown location and the rooms' proximity to a pub inside the hotel. They were even thoughtful enough to provide packaged ear plugs in one of the nightstands but we didn't notice noise to be a problem at all. In fact, we thought our room was surprisingly quiet for such an old albeit remodeled hotel. We also loved all of the historical photos on the walls throughout the hotel, showing pride in the establishment's and Nelson area's past.

It was the best service ever. We stayed there on July 7 in the evening. The two girls that were on shift that evening were the best. They were overly helpful and one of the girls even told us to go for a walk and that she will keep an eye out when a motorcycle Parking becomes available and that she will give us a call. I can’t say enough, but the service was just out of this world. Thank you so much for making it a memorable stay.

Started out strong here and then one front desk gal during day 2 was so grumpy so it went down to average from 5 stars. Rest of staff pretty good. Management does not answer emails back though. At least not in fair reasonable time. Still no reply and was a compliment even. One thing I did not like was being in a penalty box just cause I booked off Expedia and not even a 20% offer for breakfast and when other guests got for free.

We loved our stay at the Hume in Nelson! The hotel is situated in the center of this colorful town. The staff were all super friendly and helpful. Parking was not provided but wasn't a problem as I had anticipated as there is a ramp right next door that is fairly affordable and the hotel comped our parking for 2 nights anyway. Our room was large, comfortable and clean. It's an old hotel in the center of town so anticipated a little street noise, but again this wasn't a problem for us. Everything in the room worked great. We didn't try any of the attached restaurants but it smelled good and the bars looked great. We will definitely stay here again the next time we are in Nelson.

Classy older hotel in the heart of Downtown Nelson. I got an upgraded room, staff was classy and well-trained. The restaurant and bar here were also very pleasant. While I can't say enough good things about the hotel, I hadn't stayed in Nelson in awhile, and was surprised at how many homeless people there were downtown. It really took the joy out of exploring this beautiful town.

Beautifully renovated old building with lots of character. We shared a double queen room with friends and there was a bathroom between the two bedrooms. We ate at the restaurant and Atlynn was very friendly and attentive to us. The food was very good with generous portions. Check-in and check-out was very simple and quick when booked through Expedia. However we found if we book directly with Hume hotel we would have gotten free breakfasts.
