Brekkestranda Fjordhotel was designed by well-known architect, Bjørn Simonnæs. Features include 1100 windows of varying shape, and a grass roof. All rooms feature a flat-screen TV, free Wi-Fi and either a balcony or patio. Most offer magnificent fjord views. Brekkestranda’s restaurant serves homemade dishes based on traditional recipes. Light snacks and chilled beers can be enjoyed in the bar, which also has a flat-screen TV. Live music events are sometimes hosted here. Beautiful setting for a very funky, tired and minimally equipped accommodation. A step above a tent cabin. Dirty windows, paper cups, no hair dryer, no coffee maker in the room, no ice (ice machine was broken?). Breakfast buffet was very sparse, bread but no toaster. Staff was pleasant, bed was comfortable but will not return.

We did a last minute reservation while driving along the Norwegian coast, and were lucky to find this great lodge. Even though we arrived late at night, the lady owner was waiting for us, and even upgraded our room for a larger one with a nice view of the water and fjord. The lodge is located on a somewhat secluded area away from heavy traffic, with its own little fjord beach. Its a great place to sit back and relax, that I hope to be back one day.
