Qualicum Bay Resort

We came in late so didn’t get to check everything out, but our kids loved the playground and we noticed there was lots of cool things to do here. Would come back for sure !

The property was a little rough on the outside but it was clean inside. Unfortunately the "pool" was a swimming pond that was under construction and the "waterslides" were closed due to smoky air. We had already hyped it up to the kids so the disappointment was palpable.

It was quiet and clean. Did not like ...pool was out of order and the ad said they was a pool. Got no coffee with coffee maker. . No place close by to eat.

Okay if you need a quick stay in the area, but everything about the property is quite dated. + Staff was very friendly, the rooms are basic but clean, the view out front was great and the playground had the kids entertained for a while. - there is definitely NO pool and the internet was extremely spotty and slow, so an absolute no go if you need to get any work done.

Easy and friendly check In, Michelle was nice and was friendly upon arrival. Our family liked the suite and Alison was nice to speak to. She explained how much work they’re putting into renovating the property which you can see first hand. Brand new deck and really nice decking. Unfortunately the swimming pond and pool wasn’t operational and the water slide wasn’t accommodating or open for that matter. These were items Alison addressed and said they’d be working towards getting open and going. We look forward to see what changes they’ll do in the near future. We’d stay again if passing through the area.

Good laundry facilities, some road noise. The owner was very friendly and accommodating, There are two chairs outside to sit and watch the ocean tides. The ocean is right across the road from the hotel. The couches were a bit dated. Close to many attractions. Very reasonably priced.

Easy access from the parking. No pool was available as " under repair".

It's unassuming, off the highway near the ocean. There was no pool so the advertising was incorrect. There's no signal in the area so wifi isn't that available. The room was pleasant and the bed comfortable

There is NO POOL and NO RESTAURANT. The Expedia ad says there is a Pool and restaurant and even shows pictures of it. We went there with our kids specifically for the pool, and they were devastated to find out upon arrival that there was no pool at all. I complained to Expedia and they did nothing.

Hotel was okay for price stayed 4 nights, never once had housekeeping the floors got so dirty, went and bought broom to clean and no garbage removal, no clean towels, went and asked for toilet paper at office and had none said will trying to get some in morning so went and bought our own, people next to us up all night yelling and banging around walls are paper thin, had to wash everything in kitchen as it was put away dirty, broken handles on closets and food and stuff under beds when we checked in. Definitely wouldn’t recommend it my friends or family, more so caters to the year round residents then to the ones who book to stay.

We were misled by their webpage. It said there was a pool but after we signed-in they told us the pool wasn't in operation. When we got in the room the floors were dirty and the linen was dirty as well. The armoire was filled with dirty linen too (maybe from the previous guest). Also the beds were messy. My wife and I decided not to sleep there at all and left. I do not recommend that place to anyone. Why is it that Expedia, whom we mostly choose to book with isn't aware of that situation. We are really disappointed with that and wish we could get a refund.

Some pot holes on the back driveway and not enough outside light . Enjoyed the stay and the room was tidy and clean . Will consider stay again in future:)

Cleanliness is not good never clean under the bed ..not safe for a kids in terms of cooking reachable in the stove area and a bit old bldg … The only good side was quiet and safe

Office staff quite friendly. Ocean view limited to when standing on balcony. The room was very large, well equipped, very clean and excellent shower. Plenty of hot water. Room was quiet.

This was a great pit stop for one night on our way UpIsland - it was clean, very quiet and right across the street from the beach. Loved that it was pet friendly and had a big fridge as we were traveling we had supplies with us. My biggest negative comment was that the bed frame had a frame that proceeds out from The bed on all corners and its a tight space - I hit my knee about 5 times so I left with a purple black and blue bruise from hitting it multiple times… I’ve traveled a lot and it’s one f my biggest complaints- should never be that way in a hotel . It was also very bright in the morning - without a sleep mask I would not have been able to sleep for the early morning. If it had been a family retreat for a longer stay I would have been disappointed- but as a travel along the way it was perfect and we will stay there again .

Very cramped in the room. Fridge was full of ice and needed to be defrosted badly. No coffee and office not open in the morning to get coffee even though there is a coffee maker in the room. No coffee shops open in the area until 8-9 am. No information at all about the area. No A/C and no screens on the windows. Comfy bed but not quiet. Campers very loud right behind our room. Ocean view and cheap for the area. Will not stay again.

Older property but well maintained, clean and well equipped with bathroom necessities, kitchenette, pots, pans, table settings for four a good sized refrigerator etc. It was very roomy with a pull out sofa that could serve as an extra queen bed plus a small porch looking towards the campground. A nice place for a simple budget holiday.

The property is older but has some updates. Staff was exceptionally helpful and very nice.

Qualicum Bay has limited resources but it's close to our friends! The accommodation worked great, however the door code wouldn't be reset and even if it was, the staff knows the code. No one was there for check in and we weren't sent instructions, and when we called the owner in Vancouver the reception is non existent so it was a run around to be able to get in at all.

Had to check in by 6pm instead of 9pm as mentioned. Asked for 2 queen bedroom but got only one bed.

Very convenient location. Desk person was phenomenal. Didn’t like the room deodorizer. Very over powering and gave us headaches. It was pet friendly and on ground floor for easy access to grass.

Management was very accommodating and kind.

The room was clean & Michelle in the office was very pleasant. The QBR is close to where my family lives so it's a perfect place to stay for family get-togethers.

My overall lower rating has nothing to do with the facility which is good but with the overall bad management of the facility. I selected this place because I needed a unit with a kitchenette. When I was planning my very long trip in western Canada, I couldn't find anything affordable around Tofino, so I decided to have a second night in Qualicum Beach at the same location. I made that second night reservation the same day as I made my first one. I have travelled extensively around the world and I have sometimes added night at a same location. Each time, that hotel was smart and organised enough to realise that it was the same person making another reservation and simply adding a night to the reservation. However, the staff at Qualicum Bay resort were not organised and smart enough to realise that I had added a second night. This mishap resulted in me having to check-out from my first room and move and check back in to another room in between my two nights. Totally unsatisfactory! Although the rooms were clean and comfortable, we were left with a very sour taste about all the warning notes in the cabins about noise, smoking, or other matters. What's the point to have all these warnings when management staff does not enforce it! On our first night, there was a lot of noise very late in the night in the unit next to ours and more people than the allowable limit. Since there is no management staff on site after 9pm, none of their multiple rules can be enforced. Not good!!

My partner and I thoroughly enjiyed our stay here. It was a quiet oasis outside of the city! It was about a 20 or more minute drive in to town, it was very scenic. There are great yrails around the area and the food truck outside of the resort was fantastic, as well as the ice cream shop. Will definitely be back in the future!

It was beautifully situated right on Qualicum Bay. Property was clean but is a bit 'unkempt' - could use some upgrades to make it look better. I would recommend and stay again.

Loved the location and the people. Price was right and we were close to both Courtenay and Qualicum Beach for fun and shopping. And the Cone Zone ice cream is right next door!

pet friendly, clean, AC and appliances worked, shower had hot water, plenty of towels. An older property that has been renovated maybe in the 80s', it has its quirks! If staying in a motel room, remember to bring your own coffee filters, salt and pepper, cutting knives, soap, shampoo, conditioner. lots of wild bunnies! Great location close to the beach.

Fabulous setting. Only complaint was that there weren't many restaurants around the area, particularly if you arrived in the evening.

The accommodations were comfortable and located across from the ocean. The suite would benefit from basic items like bags soap for hand washing (there were a pile of shampoo packets that we washed our hands with), Kleenex and salt and pepper in the kitchen would have been thoughtful and appreciated items.

Right across from the ocean, watched the otters swimming around. Super easy and quick check in. Friendly people all around. Had dinner at the Cafe down the street (can't remember the name) also beautiful view of the ocean:) loved this location and room!
