The hosts were really friendly, we were met outside in the car park and shown to our room. The communication regarding arrival time and offer to help with finding somewhere to eat before our stay added an extra level of care they put into their guests as well as the toiletries and fruit/drink options in the room. Breakfast was good with plenty of options. Gorgeous room with a four poster bed and plenty of space with the shared "living room" area on the top floor. Lovely views from the room and i even saw a red squirrel outside. Definitely would stay here again.

This is an absolutely amazing place, filled with style and atmosphere. Hazel is a tremendous host, helped us to book a table at the nearest Pub, and gave us good advice, what to see in the area. Told us also a bit about her exiciting life in the horseworld. The bed and the room are lovely, there is fresh water and milk in the refrigerator. Everything is nice and clean. The breakfast is really good. The garden is lovely. I can´t find anything negative to say about this place. I give it my very best recommandations, and would love to come back.

The property is outstanding - within the gates of Greystoke Castle, surrounded by meticulously kept gardens, steps from the beautiful village of Greystoke yet quiet and peaceful. Hosts Hazel and Ian were warm and welcoming and both attentive and knowledgeable about the area and Cumbria in general, willing to share ideas on places to visit. Exceptional hosts! Their locally-sourced breakfasts were outstanding, the room was beautiful and fully stocked with anything you could possibly need. There is so much to see in the area and this is a good base from which to explore the Lake District. I would recommend Stafford House without reservation and hope to return again.

It doesn’t get any better than this. Our host was very gracious and friendly. She evokes a kinder, gentler, service-oriented era. We feel like cherished family members after staying for two nights. The gardens are beautiful and peaceful and we would love to spend more time here. Exceptional!

A lovely old world property with delightful gardens. This was an overnight stay as we headed south after doing the NC500. Hazel and her family were really welcoming and genuinely friendly. The room was very comfortable and the bathroom was spacious with a good bath/shower etc.Parking was easy and the location was easy to find with great directions. The local pub was an old world pub with good food and friendly service, just a short walk from Stafford House.

Stafford House proved to be a great place to stay for a few days visiting one of our children nearby. A really warm welcome from Hazel, everything we could need provided in the room, amazing breakfasts, room/bathroom perfectly clean. We can wholeheartedly recommend Stafford House, and we would happily stay here again in the future.

I seldom put up review. This place does deserves 10 out of 10 rating. Spotless room with lots of amenities in room ( snacks fruits coffee and tea). Especially love the breakfast with lots of choice. The owner very friendly and gives warm welcome, plus having a great garden for hanging out and photos.

Excellent stay. Hazel who owns the hotel was lovely and very attentive. The room was impressive and of a very high standard. The breakfast was exceptional with a very good choice of items and all were freshly cooked to order. Great surroundings and a lovely wel kept garden. A real pleasure to stay. Congratulations to Hazel on a fantastic venue.

I received a warm welcome from Hazel, who escorted me to a beautiful room. The four-poster bed was very comfortable, the mini fridge held fruit, water and milk. The tea/coffee station has a huge variety of drinks and tasty biscuits. Breakfast was very tasty!

Beautiful and interesting place. We had the delux room. Four poster bed, thst was possible the most comfortable ive stayed on. Breakfast was fantastic, all of it was delicious, but the black pudding was wow, amazing. The premises are decorated beautifully and in character with the building. Hazel snd her husband (very remiss of me but i didnt get his name) are lovely, and very welcoming. I can't rate this place highly enough. We will definitely be back, and for a couple of days at least next time.

The setting of this lovely B&B is placed in stunning surrounding gardens which is immaculately maintained by the proprietors. We were warmly greeted by Ian, who was gardening when we arrived, but stopped to make sure we were in the right place. Don’t be too concerned if are you a stranger to the area, the wealth of local knowledge provided by Hazel & Ian can provide you with ideas and locations to spend away the day. They also provided us with a little travel plan that listed all the POI with sat nav postcodes. Our hosts Hazel and Ian are terrific people. Both knew just how much and when to attend or leave us to our devices. We stayed in the main house, but there are self-catering lodges available. The decor and attention to detail in the rooms are second to none and very, very comfortable. The rooms are well stocked with tea/coffee facilities and the bathroom with all manners of toiletries. There was a wide choice available for breakfast with fresh and locally sourced produce. Absolutely loved our stay, Hazel and Ian really made us feel welcome and truly go the extra mile. Gorgeous surroundings, amazing room and lots of care and thought given into providing a 1st class accommodation. Cannot fault anything, breakfast made to order and out of this world, highly recommend staying here and will be returning.

Such an amazing property. On the grounds of Greystoke Castle. Built in the 1840's and restored to be historically accurate. Any renovations overseen by a local group. The hostess is friendly, accommodating and shared so much information about the property and painstaking restoration. My wife said "This is the best breakfast we have had." And my wife loves a good breakfast. A great place to end our visit to the Lake District.

A lovely old world property with delightful gardens. This was an overnight stay as we headed south after doing the NC500. Hazel and her family were really welcoming and genuinely friendly. The room was very comfortable and the bathroom was spacious with a good bath/shower etc.Parking was easy and the location was easy to find with great directions. The local pub was an old world pub with good food and friendly service, just a short walk from Stafford House.

Excellent stay. Hazel who owns the hotel was lovely and very attentive. The room was impressive and of a very high standard. The breakfast was exceptional with a very good choice of items and all were freshly cooked to order. Great surroundings and a lovely wel kept garden. A real pleasure to stay. I received a warm welcome from Hazel, who escorted me to a beautiful room. The four-poster bed was very comfortable, the mini fridge held fruit, water and milk. The tea/coffee station has a huge variety of drinks and tasty biscuits. Breakfast was very tasty!

We had a lovely time at Stafford House. If Hazel could think of any other comfort for her guests she'd provide it, but I think she's already thought of everything. Hosting is clearly her passion and nothing has been overlooked. Steps away from the castle and the village and handy for the Northern Lakes. A stunning garden, history and comfort. Thank you.

This was our second visit. We had a wonderful experience and were completely looked after by Hazel, who was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. She was attentive, friendly and made sure everything was perfect throughout our stay. The room was lovely, beautifully presented and had some really thoughtful extra touches that made it feel special. Breakfast was also excellent, with a great choice and everything beautifully prepared. Nothing was too much trouble, and Hazel’s warm and professional service really made our stay. We would definitely recommend and look forward to returning again

The house was very nice and well maintained, Hazel was the host and was very friendly throughout. The breakfast was excellent. Very well priced house but just be aware that it's a lot easier to travel to the lake district by car than public transport from the location.
