Very nice place with open space next to river. Clean with dinning hotel next to that. Plenty of car park. Reception was so friendly. A nice shopping centre in a 5 min drive. Down side: about driving to Newcastle, close to train rail, as result noisy time to time. I don't get why for such relax place we should get noise of early morning lawn mowing machine. Bottom of shower screen was a bit mouldy.

A wonderful stay in a spacious room for our family. A great spot to base yourself whilst exploring Newcastle & Lake MacQuarie. The condition of the Hotel was exceptional, and the club next door was a very easy dining option.

The property is close to the Catholic Club where the kids can spend a good time there playing. The sport centre is massive with lots of different activities. The only downside about the hotel room is cleanness. The dust on the table is about 0.5cm. I have never stayed in a hotel with so much dust. I wonder how long it has not been cleaned. The smell in the toilet is unbearable. I wish the hotel can look into improving this.

The rooms were very clean, specious and had everything you needed along with free super fast internet, a swell very comfortable beds. We had a ground floor room with the balcony overlooking the courtyard, it was a great location and very quiet. The buffet breakfast is a must do, plenty of variety, yummy food and great value for money. We would highly recommend Macquarie 4 star and will definitely re book for next Christmas.

My partner and I stayed at the Macquarie 4 Star (locals referred to it as 'The Club') for one night in room 007. Access to the property, parking, and check-in was very easy. There wasn't much to do at check-in other than receive the key cards, give them my contact details, and choose whether we wanted to pre-book the buffet breakfast (not included with room, additional $20pp if pre-booked or $25pp if you show up unannounced). I was a bit miffed at the venue for charging my card a few days prior to check-in using my card that was on file with Expedia. I had assumed my payment details were only saved for transactions handled directly by Expedia. The room was clean and orderly. They still had to deliver fresh towels to the room despite us checking in at 3pm. TV was definitely bigger than in the photos, but I didn't use it much (not a fan of the Vucaster solution for streaming to it from my phone). If you do use it there's a selection of Foxtel channels and on-demand movies. The bathroom was really nice. Loved the double shower and spa bath. There was unfortunately a lack of power points near the bed. There was two, and I had to unplug the landline phone to use one of them. After plugging in our CPAPs we had to plug in chargers for our phones and watches near the TV. Was a little annoying, but it taught me that I need to start bringing a travel power board with me in the car as a just-in-case last resort. The buffet breakfast was very good. I do recommend it.

Loved the hotel, the Bistro was adequate but we would opt to eat out next visit. We had a lake view and it was very quiet and peaceful to sit at our patio table and watch the sun go down.

Lady at Reception was nice and helpful. I booked the "Gold Spa Room" which was quite basic, not enough toiletries the waterviews are not the Bay, but a narrow river which the train tracks ran alongside, normal trains and very loud fright trains running day and night. I felt a bit misled. I thought I was booking a place in Warners Bay as that is the search I did, others on same page were at Warners Bay and the the water views are of the Bay. Macquarie 4 Star is not, it is a Hotel with adjoining rooms. Feels like your in the middle of nowhere.

Lady at Reception was nice and helpful. We enjoyed our overstay and will be back again! Loved to spa bath.. only one tiny negative thing I could say is - wish had more shampoo and conditioner for my long hair!. Excellent breakfast buffet deal if you do pay advance, we felt like we are on holiday!
