Chambre spacieuse, calme, laundry très bien, wifi lent

Older, but nice, clean and comfortable. Two BBQs, picnic tables and super helpful staff. Close to everything in Picton.

Parking was a problem as I didn’t realise I’d booked a room that wasn’t entitled to parking.

Property was okay, but I paid for carpark space (was included with my Expedia booking) and was told I couldn't use the motel carpark and would have to park on the street (timed parking). The motel had a few un-used spaces for the night!

Location is great, WiFI connectivity was weak inside the rooms, unfortunately laundry service was not available during our stay, overall OK place

The unit has no WiFi signal due to the distance to WiFi source and staff not willing to switch to any room closer. She insisted we have to pay more to a room closer since it is an upgrade.

Overall it is good except parking.

The Bathroom needs a woman's touch/assessment internet service is quite weak

Stayed two nights. Centrally located in Picton, close to dining opportunities. Limited parking on site. Access to upper level units is by stairs only so if you have mobility issues request a ground floor unit. Unit (22) was modern looking, apparently has been updated in recent times, very clean though a little cramped as had queen bed and a single, though adequate to our needs.

Lovely hosts; very clean; comfy bed; spacious room; fluffy towels. There's nothing to dislike about this property.

The guy at the desk was fine but the hotel is super manky. Smelled so strongly of mildew I couldn't breathe and the toilet had someone's... uhm...leavings... on the seat. Checked into a different hotel because this one was so bad. No refund, of course.

The room was perfect., clean, tidy all the amenities you need to have few days away. Friendly staff. Would come back and stay, when visting picton again.

The location was really good, in middle of main street. Convenient parking space. The room was clean but had an old musty smell. The tiles in bathroom were freezing on our feet!

The unit was a bit tired and shabby, but it was very clean, comfortable and met our needs. Being in the centre of town within walking distance to everything was great. Apart from being in need of maintenance, there was no bench top areas in the bathroom to put your personal items, very annoying and inconvenient which dropped my overall rating

Our unit was spotless and very accommodating with lots of amenities. We stayed for three nights and unfortunately two of the nights included Friday and Saturday. Loud noise, often shouting from intoxicated patrons a few doors down kept us awake until midnight.

The table top surface is sticky and obviously not clean,the toilet floor is sticky to the sole of the shoe..the equipment needs updating

Was alright but definitely felt uneasy and the bathroom had stray hairs around. Also odd how you have to take a big step up into the shower.

We ended up needing an extra night as we had to arrive a day early from Christchurch due to incoming weather. The motel was able to accommodate this need which was much appreciated, however we were charged about 3 times our original booking price for the same room. If the room had been nicer, cleaner, or updated, it may have helped. It is an older property and the cleaning was lacking. We considered checking out and moving to a nearby Airbnb for the same price but knew we would not likely get our money back. There was a dank smell to the room and mold around the shower area. The shower was small and the floor of it is made of a very slick metal. There is a tiny shelf big enough for soap only. The towels and washcloths appeared clean but had a slight odor to them. The carpeting is old and dirty. There aren’t many plugs in the room. The tv only has a select few channels. Radiator heat only. There was a large area power outage which couldn’t be helped but during that time we were not asked if we needed anything or advised of options. The only reason we decided to stick it out was our budget. After being overcharged for the additional night we felt stuck. When we learned that our Ferry had been delayed, I asked about late check out but that was a no. They did allow us to store our luggage but the room wasn’t locked so we returned for it sooner than later. Bottom line, if I had it to do over again I would not choose this property. Especially after reading recent bedbug reviews!

The room was clean. The staff was very nice and helpful. Good place to stay.

Hotel is in a great location and very clean but the step into the shower is very hazardous. The step is quite high and no handrail to help you enter or exit. Potential accident waiting to happen.

We stayed for two nights. The motel is conveniently located on the Main Street. The room is outdated with old decor and peeling paint on the walls. The bed was very comfortable.

Mattress was very soft and fairly uncomfortable

Liked the locality. Thought room was a little dark and had trouble with cell phone and wifi coveage and there was a large step into shower and floor of shower moved when stood on.

The room was spacious, electric blanket, heating on when we arrived, everything was clean and welcoming.

Das Picton Accommodation Gateway Motel ist zentral im äußerst ruhigen kleinen Städtchen gelegen. Das Zimmer (Deluxe Studio) war ausreichend groß, allerdings ausgesprochen schmucklos und trist eingerichtet. Die Betten sowie Bad mit Dusche waren gut. Positiv wirkt der kleine aber recht hübsche grün angelegte Innenhof. Es gab ausreichend Parkplätze auf dem Gelände. Die Freundlichkeit im Hotel war einwandfrei.

Very small space with the usual “extra bed”, no privacy blinds on the front window so we had to keep the main curtains closed making the room very dark. Huge step up to the shower??? I didn’t book the smallest room there but it felt like we where given it when we turned down the “upgrade for an extra $30”.

An older motel but perfectly comfortable; large room with kitchenette and microwave. The motel is a short way up the main street of Picton, making it very convenient for catching either the Cook Strait ferries or the Coastal Explorer. Surrounded by cafes and shops.

A sub standard motel, the problem was our motel was above a nightclub which was a major inconvenience. I wouldn’t stay there again.

Excellent hosts, very clean and tidy. Good central walking distance. Close to convenience stores (be aware everything closes early!) Postcard picture scenery.

What a crock, I changed the night I was staying, arrived and was told if I wanted to stay would have to pay again, totally disgusted , walked out and went to another motel

The staff were unfriendly and rude, which made our stay uncomfortable from the start. Guests are expected to clean their own rooms, and there’s no room service at all, which felt below basic standards. At one point, my three-year-old son poked holes in a couple of coffee milk pods. Instead of addressing it calmly, the manager confronted us in an aggressive and accusatory way, claiming we were disrespectful to the staff. It was an upsetting and unnecessary escalation that only made things worse.

A great place in the centre of town.

The location is ideal on Main street yet bery quiet. Manager gave good tips. Right by excellent happy hours and great meals The hiking around Picton superb. Only thing i wish done cruising Marlborough Sounds. World class

Quiet and central location

Great location, right in the middle of things. Not that picton is bustling but it's the perfect spot. Nice clean room.

The motel is located on the main street, very close to ferry terminal. The room was clean and nice, all needs were thought of.

This was in a good location for our 2 night stay in Picton. It’s close to the ferry terminal and all the shops and eateries. We ate at The Barn next door and got a discount! The room was good with a comfy bed, good linen and everything we needed. Clean bathroom but no where in the shower to put your things. Room was warm with a little heater provided. Wifi was very slow - not sure if this is a local issue though. Visitors need good wifi these days! Apart from that a great place to stay.

We had a great stay. The motel is located on the main street. There's heaps of restaurants, cafes and shops all within walking distance. We were able to park up within the motel no problems. We will stay here again.

Really good value Central location But we did want ground floor and paid more to get it , but room was bigger too Laundry really handy if on road trip Great Indian place close by we had takeaway Recommended
