Had to pay for parking which was not mentioned when making reservation and parking was very limited. Front desk staff was not very helpful in when asking for other places to park. Listing should mention that you may have to park 3-5 minute walk from residence. Only one elevator working. Rooms not very quiet.

Basic, no-frills accommodation near the Byward Market. With all the construction happening nearby, it was tricky to get to, but the campus is lovely. We thought the kitchen would have more than à microwave and fridge as the email said we needed to bring our own cooking utensils and pots (which we did), so we were a little disappointed to find no hot plate or hob.

Great deal. Parking situation is less than ideal. The adjacent lot had 1/2 blocked off for “special event” and stayed empty all weekend. Parking is not included with stay. This is likely why

Simple rooms with a microwave, good size fridge and freezer, and lots of space. Wifi and TV's with Roku are appreciated. Bring anything else you need. It seems there's access to a communal kitchen on the main floor, but you'll have to bring everything you need with you (pots/pans, cutting board, etc.). Bathrooms and beds remind you that this is a dorm. Sprung bed frames for comfort. True double size beds (not queens). Both mattresses were thinner, but one bed had coil springs and the other had memory foam... huge difference! Apart from the bar soap, it's best to bring your own showering supplies. Summertime and little use can make the hallways and rooms smell off. Use the room cooling/heat controls to help or bring a room freshener. 15 minute walk to the heart of Ottawa. Stayed here due to parking availability (flat rate of $17.50 to next day (11am) as of July 2025) and security of a campus. Other nearby hotels have reviews with concerns of people unhoused/homeless around. Not a concern during our visit as people were generally doing their own thing so perhaps this is blown out of proportion (?). Laundry is $10 for 24 hours of access. Dorms are where it's at as it's like being at a laundromat... so quick to get 4 loads done!

Spacious room with microwave & fridge but no utensils of dishes at all. Bed was only moderately comfortable. Opening window was very small and temperature (even with “cool” maximum fan) was very warm even in mid-May. Otherwise excellent.

Only one elevator working. Was not informed that you need to lock front door when you left room. Bed was terrible. Shower curtain too long and blocks drain.

2 out of 4 towels are dirty.

We had a great time and the room was clean.

Not clean and not well-maintained. The light close to the bed was not working. Bed sheets are so thin that you can see the pattern of the mattress. (No mattress protector between the sheets and the mattress.) Towels are old and thin—no bed cover. Not expensive, but not worth it anyway.

A good value, roomy accommodations. We booked a dorm room, which was two bedrooms with a shared bathroom and kitchen area. It was very near the Byward Market, Parliament, an LRT station, etc. Felt safe with restricted access, campus security, etc. When we got there, the room was clean with fresh sheets and stuff, but the A/C wasn't working. They fixed it during our stay, but it was hot at first. We stayed 5 nights. We asked about linen changes, fresh towels, etc, and were told it was every 3 days. But even after having asked several times we never did get any housekeeping. Had to beg for some extra toilet tissue. It was ok and a good bargain for someone on a budget, but be aware the service level is what it is.

Our check-in time was confirmed for anytime after 4 PM, and we arrived at approximately 7:45 PM. We checked in & proceeded to our assigned room. The key did not work, so the front desk clerk to reprogrammed it. She then accompanied me back to ensure access. Once inside, we immediately noticed the room had not been cleaned since its last use—the beds remained unmade. The clerk asked us to wait while she investigated the issue. After 15 minutes of waiting in the hallway, I returned to the front desk, where I was informed that the cleaning company could not be reached and there was no estimate on when the room would be prepared. I was told that there were no other available rooms, meaning we would have to potentially wait several hours before check-in. We were advised to store our bags in a secure location and either wait in the lounge or go out for dinner. After the long drive, we were exhausted & wanted to settle in. We decided to go eat and returned around 10 PM, and were offered a different room. While attempting to settle in, we noticed one of the beds contained sand between the sheets. We were too tired to address the issue further. Upon our return home, I emailed the property, but they have not even acknowledged my concerns. This whole ordeal was unacceptable and disappointing.

Cleaning is every 4 days. Garbage I have to take it down ,because nobody cares if you got garbage full and have to get rid of it in these 4 days schedule for cleaners.On the 4th day when cleaners are scheduled to come you have to use your holiday time to be with them at the time they want to clean.We told them to come one hour later and we were told that they can not come later,so we told them to take the garbage and give us new towels.It os cheaper here than other places ,but it is not free

While the fees were reasonable and the condition was generally good, the towels were not clean and had an unpleasant odor.

Finding parking was a challenge every night of our stay until we found a garage around the corner at another hotel. For the cost per night, this is an excellent choice!

The layout worked well for my trip with two teenagers as you get two rooms with private bathroom and kitchenette that had microwave and fridge. The location is great as it is a walking distance to the market, grocery store, and parliament. It is a residence for students so beds are very simple, there are no services, and no dining facilities in the building but you would expect that based on this type of accommodation.

Les résidences sont très bien situées à proximité des points d'intérêt de la ville. Le prix des chambres est vraiment très abordable. Le stationnement est facile et peu couteux. Toutefois, les matelas sont fatigués et l'insonorisation des fenêtres est très déficiente. Ainsi, on entend trop bien le bruit du train qui passe à proximité. Néanmoins, je recommande la résidence pour son prix et sa proximité du centre-ville.

Location was excellent and the suite was a great value. However the bed was awful, especially shared by two people. The mattress was concave inward, so you would roll/slide to the centre from the sides. On our last morning we discovered that the metal bed frame underneath was severely curved/bent inward.

The mattresses need to be replaced with the new one. Very uncomfortable. We can feel the spring and bend in the middle. We couldn’t sleep well.

Very central and close to Parliament Hill. Staff were very friendly, rooms were clean, shower was decent, and great ac in rooms, but the beds were awful. My cell phone would slide to middle of bed when laying on it. Very difficult to get a decent sleep on those beds.

It is a simple but comfortable apartment with 2 bedrooms ( we asked for 2 beds). Good sized bathroom and a simple kitchen with fridge, sink, microwave, table, and chairs. It is like the photos on the website. We liked very much.

I thought it was clean and great for a budget short stay. Students wkg front desk friend It was impossible to reach them prior to my stay on numerous attempts or during my stay. The phone is not answered. They need to work on this asap.

Perfectly located and made walking to everything a plus Extremely friendly and helpful staff

Staff barged into my room mid day while I was in an important zoom meeting for work. I closed the door on them and they kept knocking for 10 minutes until I was done. Rude housekeeping supervisor telling me I had to leave when he had the housekeeper knock on my room instead of the correct one. Since there's no phone I had to cue down the one elevator and go to the front desk, who informed me it shouldn't have happened but no form of compensation was offered. We were going to extend our stay thru the weekend but decided to leave after this experience.

The check-in experience here was horrible. There was a music festival happening the day we checked in. We were not informed of this ahead of time and when we found out around 2pm, we were not allowed to check-in early and told to come back at 4. However, when we came back at 4, the lobby was flooded with 20-something-year olds drinking and being obnoxiously loud as they were waiting to check-in. We had to wait almost four hours to be able to check in as there were only two staff working the desk and the process was going extremely slow. Thankfully the poor experience ended there. The staff were fairly knowledgeable and the room was extremely clean. The residence was very close to everything (8 min walk to the mall, 25 min walk to parliament, 5 min walk to Second Cup and other restaurants and grocery stores, etc.). I wouldn’t recommend going out at night alone in this area though. Lots of shelters and community kitchens in the area unfortunately make it a hub for some strange nighttime behaviour. Also note that most of the campus restaurants and cafes are closed during Summer.

The price and the room itself are absolutely fantastic. However, (I hate to sound like a Karen) the reception staff was incompetent beyond belief. It took the guy an average of 10 minutes to check in a group, and I had to wait in line for an entire hour before it was my turn. When I asked what it was that took him so long, he simply dismissed the question and chuckled as if I was being unreasonable. I do not believe I was underestimating the amount of work required to check in peeps, so I found that reaction of his incredibly disrespectful and unprofessional. He even signed his colleague's name on the room card instead of his - I did not realize until seeing the name tag of that colleague of his the next morning.

Service at front desk was very friendly and accomidating. Location was great, within walking distance to many downtown attractions. We were in Ottawa in the middle of a heat wave so the air conditioned room was amazing. The beds were a little uncomfortable, glad I brought additional pillow. Overall a positive experience.

I was not informed upon arrival about the charge for parking. there was no mention in my booking that parking was additional so I was under the impression I had parking priveleges. I received 2 tickets; one at 10:38am when I still checking out and another an hour later. the check in staff should have made me aware of parking. my toilet was also clogged on arrival and it took 2 mentions to the desk that it wasn't working and finally someone came over 4 hours later. we had to go down to use different bathrooms because of the unreal inconvenience.

It was a super comfortable stay. The accommodation is spacious and the location is pristine. Without paying top tier prices, you can’t find a better location. I’d stay in UOttawa Residence again.

The two bedroom suite is very spacious for the price. It was pretty quiet during our stay. Since we went to Ottawa during a heatwave week, we were worried about the AC but turns out the building has centralized AC and each room has AC outlet and the strength was great. It actually felt a bit too cold during the night so we needed to ask for more blankets, which the staff kindly provided. The residence is located near a few good bus stops and terminals so exploring the city has economic transportation options, plus the Uber and Lyft service in Ottawa are surprisingly affordable, just make sure you call Uber / Lyft with the correct pickup spot as the residence maybe a bit hard to find for new drivers. What I think they could improve, is providing a bit more amenities, such as paper towel, water kettle, hair dryer. Especially hair dryer seems to be a necessity for any room that has proper shower (which this residence have and pretty decent). I was reading lots of review on expedia and called beforehand to inquire what are and arenot available, and brought with me many things to make the week easier. I was told the frontdesk has hairdryer to rent but turns out to be not true. The bed, although officially double, is thin and not really made for sleeping two adults. One adult and a child is passable but you can't be picky about comfort otherwise will be disappointed. Overall, for this price, this residence is a very good option for economic traveling to the heart of Ottawa.

Economical, safe, easy walk to everything you want to see in downtown Ottawa. There is a train station on campus as well, good place for families as well. Great parking too.

A 15-minute walk from ByWard Market, the location is perfect (close to everything but sans the downtown mayhem). Rooms were clean and linen were basic but clean. Overnight parking permit can be purchased on-site (if driving). Positives: Location Cleanliness Affordable Layout of rooms Air-conditioning Negatives (if relevant): No eateries on-site No early check-in (not even 30 mins prior, but they do offer baggage check) Check-out is 10:30am (unlike the ‘typical’ 11am)

Overall really happy with our stay for the price. Having separate bedrooms and full fridge was really nice. I wish the kitchen had a kettle or coffee maker but not the end of the world. The beds were a little small for 2 people but we made it work. Would stay again

We stayed here for two nights to explore Ottawa and the surrounding area. The residence is well located and from there you can walk to the centre of town and to midtown (which we preferred). The room was huge - two bedrooms - and it had a fridfe and microwave but there is no crockery or utensils so we couldn’t even boil water to make a cup of coffee. I think that for short-term summer rentals, a few basics would make a huge difference. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. We would probably stay here again. Parking was very reasonable when paid using the machine in the lobby but we didn’t know this and had already paid before coming in. This could be better explained in the booking confirmation.

I think this is very convenient for students or young travellers. It is very accessible but has close to no service. Check-in is late in the evening and it takes a long time. Overall the is a value hotel, as you are well located, you have a good small room (confort is okay), and the price is great for small groups. You definitively need to ask for restaurant/cafe at the front desk because most of them are on campus and inside building so the access and hours are limited in the summer.
