This hotel is a mixed bag. On one hand, everyone we met that works there was fantastic! On the other hand, there were some big misses. The pool is shared with the public who have to make reservations in order to have access. Hotel guests have complimentary access but you have to “reserve” a space with the front desk 24 hours in advance. In reality, you’re not making a reservation as a guest because when we arrived to the pool, we were told we could sit anywhere that wasn’t reserved. Almost every space was reserved. Huh? I thought I made a reservation with the front desk. No, the only real pool reservations are the locals who are paying to use it. I ended up asking the hostess to move a reservation to the back so I could sit near the pool, which she accommodated. It seems like the hotel and the pool share the property but are separate entities. The chaise loungers by the pool were disgusting! I was thankful they provided towels to cover them up. The room was dirty. Baseboards and windowsills were covered in dust, and the rug made my feet black. The overall curb appeal is nice but amenity and room cleanliness was a HUGE miss. I’d give it another shot but only if there weren’t any other options available in town.

A private event was schedule during our stay and not communicated to us during our booking. None of the hotel amenities (pool, hot tub, restaurant) were available but we were still charged a services fee. We would not have stayed there had we known. Absolutely unacceptable.

Great central location, 25 minutes to State Farm stadium, Fashion Square Mall, and the Airport. Awesome outdoor restaurant, bar, and pool. Great staff. Retro motel vibe with modern amenities. Highly recommend.

Stayed here with a friend. Front desk staff was amazing and personable. Only feedback I have is that the pool and restaurant were closed two out of three days I was there due to private events, and the one day I went to the pool I was bitten up all over my body by bugs. The server was able to give us bug spray, but it was too late.

Highly recommend! This was a super fun hotel with a cool retro vibe. We loved the boozy popsicles that they gave us at check-in, dining/drink facilities are great, and the pool area is very relaxing. Only downside was that it doesn’t have a fitness room.

Stayed at property for the weekend. Room had a strong Oder and had to purchase an air freshener for the room. Also came upon soiled linens and a used needle in between the pull out bed. Not a good experience.

This place is ran down and they have bed bugs had to throw away everything when I got back. The staff is sweet but the cleanliness is non existent and the building is very run down was holes in the base boards and had water damage in the room! Very good location and safe to walk and a lot of food around. The bed bug really through everything off for the whole trip off. I got bit up

I couldn’t wait to stay at this property and it didn’t disappoint. Our room was amazingly clean and the amenities were great! We were in town for a graduation and on a very busy schedule so we didn’t do much at the hotel but sleep which was a bummer because I was really looking forward to hanging by the pool. The one single downside is that we didn’t get housekeeping during our stay which is a perk I really enjoy on vacation.

I’ve stayed here several times in prior years, this year we got a room right below the rooftop bar and it was so loud. All evening until bar close we could hear chairs being moved around and loud thuds. The light rail across the street was also loud and we could hear the dinging from the train. The room’s rug was absolutely filthy with stains all over it. And we requested a record player (as they used to all come standard with them) and we got one that didn’t work with records that were badly warped. The pool lounge cushions could use replacing or a deep clean as well as they all looked dingy dirty and stained. Hoping the Rise takes care of this stuff and updates some of the rugs and cushions to maintain the property. Normally i absolutely LOVE this place but this year it was sorta lacking.

Really gross room. The floors were dirty and the shower wasn’t clean. The staff was okay but were overall pretty unfriendly. For the price of the room this was crazy.

The rooms were decorated in an awesome retro style and the pool area was gorgeous. Bed was comfy. The ice pop, on check it, was a great touch. Cleanliness- rooms were satisfactory but had a little mold in grout. Sink went down very slow and we told the front desk about it. During a three night stay it was not fixed. We were told the room would be cleaned every other day, but it wasn’t. We told front desk (we needed towels ) and they finally did come to clean after 5:00pm. Common areas could use a power wash. Pool area was beautiful, but we had so many mosquito bites from that area! They need to address that. Coffee and breakfast were nearby, but not complimentary. This hotel has so much going for it, but lacks in some basics

Shower wasn't cleaned well--found hair in it. Comforter had a blood stain on it. Very noisy and next to busy road. On the plus side the room is cute and the balcony is spacious. I liked the aesthetic.

The Rise is a cool retro hotel. The pool was amazing and the wait staff at the pool bar was great! No coffee pot in the room though. The wifi worked fine but my cellphone service was spotty in my room (Bldg D Room 106). Had to step out several times so I could here and be heard.

The room was small with few amenities. The shower caused as much water to get on the bathroom floor than inside the shower. The refrigerator leaked water onto the floor. There was a lot of noise because the room was underneath the roof bar. WiFi was terrible. Would prefer to have had a coffee maker instead of robes.

first night didnt sleep at all cause it's built like a motel so rooms are outside... no security and right on a busy road, VERY noisy. Also walls are paper thin so I could hear EVERYTHING on the room upstairs. The second day I asked to move to the back of the hotel and on a top floor and it was much better and more quiet. I wouldnt stay there again tho.

We stayed on the 3rd floor directly beneath the rooftop bar and it was actually miserable. The bass shook our entire bed and the mirrors were literally bouncing off the wall. I get better sleep camping at music festivals than I did staying in my hotel room here. If you’re going to have rooms that close to an outdoor rooftop bar playing music loud af with a subwoofer vibrating the entire building, you absolutely need to make sure those rooms have SOME soundproofing. I am not one to complain ever, especially about noise, but I have never experienced worse noise issues in a hotel in my entire life and if I had known this was going to be an issue, I never would have stayed here. Not worth it at all. I stayed here with my mom which was a big mistake. The rooftop bar has their hours listed as closing at midnight. I When I called the front desk to complain about the noise, they then stated it was ending at 2am. They said that they had already received several noise complaints from other guests and that they would relay the message and ask them to turn it down. They didn’t. In fact, it got LOUDER between 12-2am. There is a noise ordinance and they are not following it whatsoever. We had to be up by 5am the next morning and I was fuming. The staff did nothing to remedy the issue, even though so many guests were infuriated. There is a city noise ordinance and they aren’t following it whatsoever.

If you’re going to have rooms that close to an outdoor rooftop bar playing music loud af with a subwoofer vibrating the entire building, you absolutely need to make sure those rooms have SOME soundproofing. I am not one to complain ever, especially about noise, but I have never experienced worse noise issues in a hotel in my entire life and if I had known this was going to be an issue, I never would have stayed here. Not worth it at all. I stayed here with my mom which was a big mistake. The rooftop bar has their hours listed as closing at midnight. I When I called the front desk to complain about the noise, they then stated it was ending at 2am. They said that they had already received several noise complaints from other guests and that they would relay the message and ask them to turn it down. They didn’t. In fact, it got LOUDER between 12-2am. There is a noise ordinance and they are not following it whatsoever. We had to be up by 5am the next morning and I was fuming. The staff did nothing to remedy the issue, even though so many guests were infuriated. There is a city noise ordinance and they aren’t following it whatsoever.

I met a friend in Phoenix and we stayed at the Rise. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience. The part of the hotel that we stayed in was a renovated older hotel with large rooms in very good condition with interesting retro-mid-century modern/modern industrial feel. The staff was charming, attentive, and clearly cared about our experience. The roof restaurant was not open, but Lylo was at the bartender provided excellent service and was friendly and welcoming. The appetizer (dirty fries) that we share was tasty and appropriately priced. The pool area was very cool with misters and shade awnings. All was well maintained. Only a few issues. First of all the $30 per room“resort fee” was excessive for a hotel, which was really more of a nice hotel and less of a resort, though in their defense, I knew about this coming into the situation and we did get a free craft cocktail, a small bottle of wine, and could’ve had a popsicle (some have alcohol) if we wanted one. One significant downside, particularly for business travelers), is the lack of a coffee maker in the room, which was otherwise nice and spacious with an in-room safe. Location did not feel unsafe, but was definitely commercial without surrounding walkable or fine dining options (making me “resort“ fee seem inappropriate. All in all, we enjoyed our stay and had no significant issues. Free parking was also appreciated.

Rooms were perfectly equipped and we loved the mid century modern decor. Unfortunately- when I went to shower the next morning (as the first to shower that day)- there was no hot water! After checking and running the water for 10 mins in hopes that it would get warm- I had to just deal with a cold shower. Beyond that- the rooms just needed a little air freshener (the lovely scent of the hand & body soap that’s provided would be an AMAZING touch)! The staff was welcoming and there’s the added touch of free popsicles (zero proof or spiked) at check in!

Did not get the room we booked. Was told the other building was full. It was not full. No WiFi. No TV in our building. Had work to do that I could not do. They would not call manager and then said they couldn’t reach them?? Nice kids at front but just zero help in ability to resolve issues.

Terrible front desk staff. Rooms not clean, paid extra for a poolside balcony and was given a balcony overlooking bathrooms. Desk staff seemed clueless with zero hospitality experience or base expectations for a hotel guest. Rooms loud all day. Could never relax. Miserable four days. As a regular traveler to Phoenix, you can do better for far less and be treated with dignity as well. I will say the staff at both bars were excellent. I’d say, Go to the bars, pay to use pool, but stay elsewhere.

The hotel is very clean, trendy and aesthetically pleasing. The staff is nice and professional. Nice pool but if youre sitting at the pool a server will come to you as if you’re in a restaurant and you’ll feel pressured to order something. Nice property. Had some trouble finding the front desk at check in though The main reason for the low rating is we accidentally locked ourselves out of the room at about midnight while using the outdoor firepit and there is no front desk after 11. I only had my phone so I tried calling the emergency number on their website about 15 times but no answer!! Our 1 year old was locked in the room and we were lucky that we somehow got him to turn the door handle from the inside so we could open the door. If not we would have had to call 911. Is our fault but There should always be a front desk or someone to contact at a hotel anytime IMO. Also they still charged me 50 dollars for late check out because I was returning my rental car and ubering back.

I was not given a bottle of wine I had to ask for it the next day. The room was not an upgrade even though they had a lot of vacancies. Late check out was not available either. I have come here several times given it’s a staycation spot and I live less than two miles. This was by far the worst due to the front desk.

We love staying at the Rise Uptown and getting a coffee at the conveniently located coffee house and then taking a morning swim and hot tub. The traffic is not an issue, which is surprising. And our room was very quiet. For lunch it's fun to order by the pool - the fish tacos are amazing! We appreciate the affordability too.

This is a great spot if you want to be in the heart of city life - for me personally, it was a bit too busy of a location. The property itself was nice, clean and vibrant. Pool staff were super kind but again, the music was just too loud for me (and I wasn’t even there on a weekend). Having a coffee shop just steps away was super convenient. There is also a breakfast restaurant nearby (definitely check out Toasted Owl) and a really cool bookstore within walking distance.

This hotel was very cool! Please note this is a very “open concept” layout. The shower is out in the open and does not have a curtain or door. This was fine for us as a couple but might be awkward for families or friends. The rooms were decorated so nicely and the pool was great. They have waitstaff that bring you drinks and food. The coffee shop on the property, cartel, was also very good! All the staff were extremely kind. The only thing I will say is not to walk around that area at night. We got in late and walked .2 miles down the street to a taco truck for some dinner. Walking back we were chased by a man but luckily he stopped and turned around. During the day seemed fine though.

Great central location, 25 minutes to State Farm stadium, Fashion Square Mall, and the Airport. Awesome outdoor restaurant, bar, and pool. Great staff. Retro motel vibe with modern amenities. Highly recommend.

The atmosphere of Rise is so fun and modern while also being so perfectly Arizona! The room was so pretty and comfortable. We loved the pool area. The staff was so kind and helpful. We also loved that we could walk to Cartel coffee and Changing Hands books as well as a few restaurants not far away.

Hotel was good, some minor things for the most part it was good. The street that the hotel is on reminds me of Los Angeles and though specifically where the hotel is located seemed to be better I could help but worry about my car window being smashed by some transient on drugs to take my bags out, those kinda vibes but the vibes the hotel gave were very cool just it’s location sucks I guess, but that’s Phoenix area for ya.

Love the vibe of the entire place, including the restaurants, pool area, and our room. The extra amenities were an unexpected bonus, but the best part was how dog friendly they are. We had our dog with us the entire time, at the pool, and even the rooftop bar (as long as we were outside). Don’t skip the tacos!

A private event was schedule during our stay and not communicated to us during our booking. None of the hotel amenities (pool, hot tub, restaurant) were available but we were still charged a services fee. We would not have stayed there had we known. Absolutely unacceptable.

The room was very nice. However the majority of resort amenities were closed during the week. The rooftop bar was closed, and other available dining closed at 8pm. The coffee shop closed at 4pm. The fire pit we paid extra for was nonfunctioning. The room was great, but the extras that the resort features were unavailable or extremely limited.

The decor and overall aesthetics of this property are really phenomenal. They nailed the mid-century modern with an Arizona flare perfectly. The bedding was dreamy and smelled like lavender. The pool was perfect. The bar area was great and the drinks were terrific. Will definitely be back.

Rise was a great hotel if you’re looking for something outside of the traditional hotel scenery. It was close to a lot of eating spots and the hotel staff was very nice and helpful. If I’m ever in the Phoenix area again, I will definitely consider staying.

It is an older hotel that needs some maintenance updates. The room has a musty smell immediately when walking in from the AC ducts and I noticed the smart thermometer unit had the "change filter" sign on. The $35 resort fee is high for what you get so the fees feel out of sync with the quality and type of amenities. The $15 bar credit is not useful if you don't plan to use it. There was no coffee maker in the room which would be a more needed amenity, or the option of a coupon for a free coffee at Cartel Cafe downstairs which has great coffee would make more sense.
