This is an absolute haven of tranquility and you don’t expect a lodge like that while driving down the East coast of Raiatea. The garden is stunning and you can read about all the plants. By the small beach is a lily pond and the hillside is a jungle of the most amazing vegetation. I was greeted very warmly and shown around, there is a beautiful communal area with a kitchen that is fully stocked and then you have little spaces in and outside of the fridge for the things you buy for yourself. There are no meals offered, you have to prepare them yourself.

BYOF (Bring you own food!) No groceries within 20 minutes and ONE restaurant in a neighboring property. This place offer breakfast and pizzas (although we weren't offered pizzas) so you better bring food. Minimally they could add a vending machine! In room, kitchette but no paper towels and no coffee or tea provided. The open gaps in the ceiling allow bees and geckos to enter the room so if you bring food, SEAL IT. Objectively, it was a real problem, we just feared a gecko getting into our luggage! Maybe it was our room (2 bedroom suite) but it is a HUMP up and down the hill to get to it.

Our room (cottage) was perched 180 ft above the beach. It was perfectly outfitted with porch, kitchen, bedroom w king size bed. The bathroom was amazing with separate shower and toilet rooms. Both were overlooking the ocean and beach and entire grounds. The entire building was done in local, highly polished, hardwood. The downside is if you don’t have a car rental the taxi fare is 70,000 xfp so stay a few days.

This place is beautiful. The sounds of the birds the beauty of the plants, the view from the bungalow, all excellent. I like being in nature and this was like being in nature while still having comforts of home. The bathroom itself was gorgeous with a skylight, lava rock and plants. The man squiring net around the bed really works well. The owners took us on a boating trip to snorkel and it was divine. All very restful.
