Dolphin Oceanfront Motel - Nags Head

We had a great stay olace was clean and great for pets. The pool was very clean and well kept.

What can I say I stayed last Friday and found my self back 1 week later. The accommodations made once I arrived topped the whole stay. Amazing beach front rooms. Very clean pool, comfy beds, fishing pier less than 5 min walk. Just can’t beat it will be sure to book next years stay soon

Weekend birthday get away. The pool is very nice and clean. Would be nice if they stocked the bathroom w shampoo and conditioner and not two shampoos (I forgot mine). The front desk clerk was very nice. I will stay here again and would like to stay in one of the back rooms that opens onto the sand.

I have never seen a pool this clean before. The room was very clean. Loved the retro looking fridge and microwave. Beach access was perfect!

Oceanfront. Easy checkin. Be aware. Pool not heated. Self housekeeping. Turn your towels in and get new with office or housekeeper. Set your trash out for pickup at your door. Small room but has everything you need. Great location!

Newly renovated motel right on the ocean. Clean pool with nice pool deck furniture. A few restaurants and an ice cream shop within walking distance. Management lives onsite and he was very helpful for all our needs.

Well-maintained older Motor Lodge style motel. Very friendly and accommodating grounds and pool very clean. Walkway directly onto beach behind hotel walking distance to Jeanette pier and several restaurants. Only complaint would be a lack of parking and the AC units in the room need to be bigger.

A great place to stay.Small venue, staff and other visitors were very friendly. Great and easy access to the beach. Outside water stations for easy beach clean up. Pet friendly and all pet owners very respectful.

No blankets in room and the deadbolt lock doesn’t work properly

This hotel has everything that you want from a wonderful swimming pool to a great location right at the ocean. Even if you don’t get oceanfront, it is just a few steps away through the corridor and you are directly on the beach no steps To go up or down just straight to the beach. The rooms are clean and very nice.

Really nice property. Quiet and well renovated. The only thing is that we did find her bugs in our hotel room.

We had a wonderful time here. The room was clean, bathroom clean. I loved that the refrigerator was big enough for our drinks and food, plus the freezer size! Even got ice cream to throw up there. The pool was so nice after a hot day. Staff was great. The walk to the beach is awesome, damn near next to the room. This is our new spot. Already planning out next trip here. Extra side note: they do have a couple charcoal grills with lids here. We’ll be grilling next time.

Room had fleas badly. The owner did come spray being we could not change rooms. Pool was nice. It was quiet and only a step away from the beach.

Beds were dirty, sheets not changed. There was a lot of sand IN both beds. There was makeup and lipstick on the pillowcase. Floors were dirty with sand and hair. Room looked clean when we walked in but once we pulled back the sheets, it was nasty. We took bottom sheet off and slept on mattress pad, took pillowcase off and covered with a towel. Gross. Couldn’t get out of there fast enough.

My adult son and I just finished a motorcycle trip to OBX. We picked Dolphin Inn because we wanted an old school motel experience, with easy access, and beach front. All at a good value. Dolphin Inn was PERFECT. It's been recently refreshed, and the rooms were very clean, nicely decorated and QUIET. The staff was friendly and professional, and everything we needed was available. Dolphin Inn is located about 15 minutes from the "action" at Nags Head, but a 7-11 and local favorite bar and grill was an easy walk. The room was a little on the small side and didn't have many "extras" but it had everything we needed, including a coffeemaker and nice TV. We don't smoke, and we couldn't smell smoke in our room, but if you do smoke I would highly recommend Dolphin Inn as there are chairs to smoke outside each room. This in no way bothered us as non smokers. In fact, most folks sat in the chairs to enjoy the weather, and we struck up conversation with them. They gave us tips on what to do and see. You don't get that in the large chain hotels. Often times we'd look at the large Comfort Inn hotel a few lots down, and comment on how glad we were choosing the Dolphin. As for convenience, it was VERY nice to just walk out your door and be at your vehicle. It was also very quiet at night with no traffic noise. We're big fans of the Dolphin Inn, it was just right for us.

Room was very small and there were a ton of flies in the room. It was definitely not worth the price.

Loved our stay at Dolphin Oceanfront! The motel was very clean, nicely decorated, and the room was set up well. Just steps from a beautiful beach. The front desk staff was so nice and welcoming. Great stay—we’ll definitely be back!

Clean rooms, access to the beach

The way the room is set up the bed is behind a wall and the air conditioner is on other side of wall. So you have to lay at the foot end of your bed to feel any air conditioning. Room was hot, I had to buy a fan just to circulate the air. Bring a blanket, the blanket they supply is old and very thin. No typical amenities like most hotel/motel. The only real plus is the dog fee is only $10 per night compared to other places. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Pool is clean but not heated.

This is an old, basic motel, BUT it was quiet and very clean. The beds were comfortable and it was nicely decorated. The price and convenience to the beach was perfect. We would definitely stay again.

The accessibility to the beach was fantastic! The little refrigerator with freezer in the room better than most high-end hotels. The bed was comfortable. There is no counter space in the bathroom. The shower needs a footstool available so women can shave their legs.

The room was small but not uncomfortably so. The bathroom was real nice. The location of the property is great and the access to the beach is a huge bonus. Our room had a pretty odd and unpleasant smell, it’s honestly the only real complaint. Parking is kind of annoying, but it isn’t a real problem.

This stay was picture perfect. Our room was on the ocean front. A sling glass door opened right out to the sand. 2 comfy chairs were directly outside in the sand. The ocean was just steps away. The room was very well decorated,the beds were quite comfortable, a small fridge and micowave were handy,a great drape to cover the window and a nice tv was available. This is a small Mom and Pop style motel that I would highly recommend.

The room I stayed in was small. Very clean but small room and bathroom. It was fine for a weekend but i wouldn't do longer than that. The pool was a bit dirt, nothing gross but debris wasnt removed and appeared to have sand in the corners. Parking is super tight. We are in a chevy silverado and it was pretty tough parking some days. Clealiness was the best quality of this accommodation.

Perfect location, friendly staff, and comfy beds! We stayed in one of the side rooms, not directly oceanfront but it’s just a short walk through parking lot to be oceanfront. Rooms are kind of small but comfy. I enjoyed the adirondack chairs outside of each room to sit in as well. Definitely will look into staying here again in the future.

I loved the fact my dog was welcome here. Easy access to the beach. Glad I upgraded to a beach access room. However. Not sure I got an Expedia deal on this. Also. The clerk named Jim wanted cash for the upgrade. I didn’t have it. Yet when I asked at check out for change for. 50. He said he did not have it. Disappointed. This was for my tip to cleaning lady. I don’t have much in monetary value. But I believe in tipping and buying items in the area I stay in. It’s called. CONTRIBUTING TO THE COMMUNITY YOU ARE VISITING. AKA. putting $ Into the area. No matter how much you may or not have

I'm on oxygen they wouldn't even bring supplies to room or clean the room had to buy all my ice was expensive to stay there not worth the price

2nd year staying here and it’s been fantastic both times. Owner and staff are very nice. Already planning to book here again next year.

Our stay was great! We were in Nags Head for a surf competition. The weather and swell forecast were both constantly changing and the competition continued to go on hold while we waited for weather and wind to clear the area. We were unsure of how long we would be there, and our check out date was likely to change. The owner was extremely flexible with our checkout time and accommodating to the fact that we might need to extend our stay. Luckily, we did not need to do so, but we truly appreciate the flexibility and consideration for our situation. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable. Would definitely recommend and would definitely stay here again!

This was a absolutely perfect spot in OBX.... We have never been to Nags Head and def will be back again next year! The only thing was we didn't realize they didn't bring you more coffee and towels..We walked to 7- 11 store for coffee...so we went to office next day to get supplies and the office manager was very nice and accommodating! I would of like better chairs but it was still nice to sit there in the morning and drink our coffee..

Staff is fantastic, better than a big chain, and the beach access is great!

Right on the beach, perfect for families. Beds were comfy. Close walk to the pier, plus taco bell and KFC.

We loved the location as we wanted to explore the entire OBX region north and south. We extended our stay a couple more days. Jim was helpful in printing our beach pass for us and accommodated our needs.

Literally on the beach. Clean, cozy and great location to restaurants, brewery and a pier. Staff was great. Took this trip with my wife to celebrate our birthdays. Would definitely go back!

Older motor court motel that has been updated. We had direct beach access from our room. It was in an area with good shopping and food nearby

Wonderful access to the beach with Jeanette's pier as the backdrop. Can't beat it.
