Beautiful view, but the docks were not in the best shape. The restaurant next door wasn't open during the stay, which was okay, but would have been convenient. The wifi worked well, and the smart TVs were a plus for the kids. Using the word resort felt like a stretch. It was a decent room with a nice view but I felt like it was overpriced.

Loved the laid back nature of the place- no front desk Just arrive, take a life jacket and pull out a canoe and get busy enjoying the amazing lake. Nothing fussy about the place. Restaurant was delicious/ top notch food. Low key staff that help anyway they can but don’t get in way. Firewood and all you need to enjoy your evening in quiet. I’d probably get bigger room Next time .. our space for 4 was tight but I had cheap room

Great Pines is a lovely location on the lake. The evening fire pit is a wonderful place to gather and watch the stars come out and listen for the calls of loons. The downside is some attention is needed for the dock and kayaks--the equipment is worn and the nicely painted dock is buckling and frayed. The room was clean and had a updated bath. Overall, a very nice place to spend a weekend.

Pet friendly. Nice fire pits around the resort for guests. Be sure to check out the little sauna building overlooking the lake. I would stay again.

Room was nice and bed was comfortable. Be prepared to go online to check in. No staff on Mondays and Tuesdays. Restaurant is closed both days. No coffee in lodge. 2 coffee pods (2 cups of coffee) in room for 2 night stay. Can't use canoes or paddle boards those days since no one is there to give you a life vest or paddles. Beautiful lake view off docks and at the lodge. The grounds were nice.

This is the perfect Adirondack lodging. We stayed in the motel in a double room. It had a spectacular view of the lake. The resort was very tranquil. Self check-in went smoothly. The grounds are very well-maintained. We enjoyed walking along the dock for a close view of the lake front. The property has Adirondack seating with spectacular views, fire pits, and lodge amenities like board games available. The continental breakfast was just what we needed as was the late evening dinner at Lean To restaurant. We will definitely be back!

Beautiful location and amenities. Could be a positive or negative, but no one came into our room during our 3 night stay. Disappointed that swimming wasn’t allowed. We had fun using the kayaks, canoe, and SUP and that kind of felt like our way around the no swimming rule. Food was good at the lean-to restaurant.

Very beautiful property with 24/7 continental breakfast. Self serve canoe to use, fire pit and close to NYS walking trails. Our room overlooked the lake with Adirondack chairs outside the room. I wish we stayed another night so we could enjoy the restaurant.

Beautiful setting. Bathroom needs a good scrub/mold in the shower Gardens need weeding and grounds a good tiding In general the place needs some care-especially window cleaning. Better coffee amenities needed in the room. This is our second stay we love the beds/pillows and cafe service super We will be back! Hope this helps!

The room was beautiful and spotless. A good size. Parking handy. Lake view perfect. Breakfast included. I would give five stars if the room was better lit, if there were comforter choices and if there was room in the bathroom to store cosmetics, toothbrushes, etc. All told, this is the best place to stay if you are looking to be in Old Forge/Inlet area.

Check in was different. I was text and emailed my room key. I liked that part as it’s very convenient I had all the information on that before arriving. I did miss the old fashion face to face check to notify me of me what the hotel offers. The room itself was fair. A little outdated. Cleanliness was fairly poor. We had several cob webs throughout, a dirty wash cloth hanging from the shower head and what looked to be like a booger on the bathroom mirror. Front desk was is only open from 8-5 and no one was even there around 4:30. Great spot on the lake with beautiful views and that’s what your paying for.

Old sagging mattress. Poor lighting in room. Bug and spiders in room. Filthy, stained carpet in room. Room service only upon request. You have to pick up rooms supplies from lobby. Breakfast foods and water not replenished. No decaf coffee. Outside seating is dirty and the place is covered in cob webs. The restaurant had limited hours even though the website stated lunch and dinner. The whole place is run down and old. The reception desk was not staffed most of the time. You needed to email them for service. Would not recommend to anyone.

bathroom shower was covered in mold, room wasnt very clean when we got in, walls super thin could hear people walking up and down stairs and people talking down in the office area, we had 3 kids with us and non of slept more then 3 hours, claimed to be an ac room and none of us could sleep or be comfortable because it was so hot in the hotel/room, also the staff seemed very inconvenienced any time we asked a question. family of 5 was only given 2 towels in the room. not what we expected for 450$ at all.. very dissapointed.

The room was filthy and dark. Poor lighting. No attention to detail Be careful when they say LAKESIDE, you can't even see the lake from the room. It is totally behind another building. I found a used Q-tip under the sink in the bathroom . There was an old, used beer can underneath the bed, along with lots of other dust and dirt. I would have not seen it, but I dropped something on the floor and accidentally saw the dirt and junk underneath the bed. It was disgusting. The room is extremely DARK. Don't plan on doing any reading or work in the room. The quality of the room was horrible. Dirty, disgusting, and no attention to detail.

Once we got in touch with staff, they were very friendly and explained how to check in and where our room was. The room view from the second story lodge room was glorious, especially at dawn. The bed was comfortable. It was very clean; the establishment is older, so the bathroom tiles were not in good shape. We recommend this place.

The room was clean, but dated and very basic. Very little lighting in the room. The heating/AC unit was so loud that we had difficulty sleeping. The setting is beautiful, and the staff was helpful. This venue is more like a camp than a resort.

Stay in main hotel was amazing. Only issue was no control over room temp. It was too hot to sleep and due to major black fly populations were unable to open window due to lack of screens. A fan and screens would cover that. Other than that, the location and amenities were perfect. But due to 2 nights of no sleep I would give it a 4 out of 5.

There was no staff. Room was nice-except for the extremely small shower. No outside lights on the balcony. Open cartons of juice and milk in a fridge to help yourself was unsanitary. Loved the lodge type decor.

I had a different experience than my friend who had a separate room…. the windows in my room were clearly new.. but didn’t work well at all… I tried to open the front windows and they simply did not open correctly and would only open about 3 inches.. the room on my visit was very stuffy and I wanted fresh air… to this end I tried to use the air conditioner and it sounded like a motor cycle in the room for both air conditioning and fan only. The carpet was dirty and the sink in the bathroom had a cap of some sort stuck in the drain causing the water to slowly drain. The rest of the property was absolutely beautiful as was the main lodge.

Live music at the Lean To. Otherwise for a price of around $350 it was disappointing, and the room description was misleading. There was no one at the desk, although they did answer text inquiries in a reasonable time frame. I wanted to love Great Pines, but instead, they almost ruined our tenth anniversary. I made reservations 3 months in advance, exchanged texts and spoke to them on the phone 3 times, making special arrangements, but when we arrived Thursday late afternoon for our two-day romantic getaway after driving hours to get there, we were told they had cancelled our reservation 6 weeks prior and had emailed us to let us know. They did not. The room was paid for at booking. They said they had refunded the money when they cancelled. They had not, but it was quietly credited to my card within an hour of our conversation. They could have easily picked up a phone and made a call, but they did not. Instead, they blamed Expedia. Then, we were told a bride had wanted the entire resort for her wedding, so our reservation was cancelled. After my husband spoke to the manager and I sat in the car crying, we were offered an out-of-the-way room for the night, but told we would have to leave first thing in the morning. No, thank you. I was furious. After all my planning and multiple calls to make sure everything was perfect, someone with more money came along and ruined my plans. If they had at least called, I would have been upset, but I would have had time to make other plans. Great Pines showed very poor management and didn't even have the professional grace to handle things kindly.

Everything about Great Pines was excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful.We were able to check in early. The property was clean, manicured and the view of the lake was amazing. We enjoyed walking the grounds and sitting in the adirondack chairs. The room was lovely with warm comforter and blankets and plenty of pillows, Towels, extra long and Fluffy. We have found new favorite getaway.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Great Pines and found it to be a peaceful and scenic retreat. The lakeside view from our room was absolutely beautiful. While the room felt a bit dated and was on the colder side, the bed itself was very comfortable. We especially appreciated the cozy cabin-style décor found throughout the property. We enjoyed spending time in front of the fireplace in the main lobby — a warm, inviting space perfect for unwinding after a day out. Breakfast was included, though the selection was limited and offered in a grab-and-go format. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Since we visited in the off-season, several of the usual amenities and services were unavailable, which we completely understand. Overall, the setting and atmosphere were wonderful, and we’re looking forward to returning when the property is fully operational so we can experience everything it has to offer.

The Great Pines has amazing Lake and Mountain views, walking their property is beautiful and serene. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Easy access to Old Forge for our favorite shopping at Life in the ADK, drinks at The Waiting Room, hot mulled wine at Montezuma Winery, dinner at Toca Bocca, and a Soundbath at Under the Sun Wellness.

The area was very nice. The rooms were small and quaint. Clean and well stocked. Visited off season so the main lodge didn’t have staff. The complementary breakfast was not impressive. Looks like a fun place to experience in season.

While we were upgraded to a cabin, there were cobwebs behind the curtains, the rest of the cabin was very nice, spacious. There were no food options, except for a self-serve continental breakfast available for only 2 hours 8-10am. The lean- too, i guess their restaurant was closed due to equipment malfunction.

Great Pines Resort is perfectly situated on Fourth Lake in the Adirondack Mountains of NYS, with both cabins and rooms in the main lodge offering spectacular views of the lake and surrounding mountains. The interior and exterior setting of the resort transports guests back to the era of the Great Camps with its large porches, stone fireplaces, and rustic twig accents. The resort is conveniently located between the towns of Old Forge and Inlet. (Don't miss going to a movie at the Strand Theater in Old Forge!) There is a cozy restaurant on the premises called the Lean-to that offers a simple bar and food menu for lunch or dinner. Guests help themselves to a continental breakfast, and this is where I think the resort could improve. A chef-prepared breakfast offering some of the area's favorites such as flapjacks and maple syrup would be a wonderful complement to this resort. There is a large dining room that doesn't appear to be used at all other than for special events. The staff is courteous and professional and fun. All in all, it is a great place for a vacation!
