4 nights in Miami, very good location and side road is quiet and has trees. Very close to beach , restaurant areas and shops. Easy 10min walk to Ocean drive. Pleasant to sit outside hotel or in reception. Bonus is the free parking which although limited spaces we haven't had an issue in 4 visits.

It is close to Lincoln Rd, everything is close by. Parking being the biggest issue in the area, complementary parking was a big advantage.

Check in was very easy, there is free parking (incredibly tight) and convenient to Lincoln Rd shopping/dining, and the beach. Location and pricing is the only positive. The room was absolutely filthy. Food cakes into the comforter, didn’t see it until I turned down for the night. Toothpaste still splattered across the mirror, hair, soap and shaving scum leftover in the shower, pillows were about as thick as a magazine. Floors still had hair and sticky. Also be aware if you park in their lot you are required to leave your key at the front desk and is stored directly behind the attendant in an open cubby, not secure at all. They said you have to in case THEY have to move your car. Was not comfortable with this policy and wish I would have known prior to booking. Additionally there are some sketchy people walking the lot, Had no idea they were employees/help to move the cones and parking sign so people could enter and exit. This property has potential, but until they get their cleaning under control I will not stay here again or recommend it not matter how low the price or free parking.

Close to the beach. Parking lot was small and annoying to get out of. You have to reverse into the street.

Artsy fun hotel with nice staff. A rare find with parking on site, first come first serve. If you’re there near check in time, your chances are better. A few minutes walk to the beach and lots of amenities nearby. Rooms are dated and a bit worn, but comfy and have fridge and microwave. The lobby and patio have an abundance of fun decor with places to sit, some tables, and coffee in the morning. Shout out to Bellin who was super helpful.

A wonderful stay here at the James. The room was clean, the bathroom was clean. The decor and architecture was an added eclectic touch. And as others have mentioned, the free parking was great.

The hotel room itself was clean, AC worked great, but was loud, and the location is alright. The elevator is almost too small for my rollator walker to even fit in let alone turn, it takes several minutes for it to move between floors, it also requires you to open a regular door to then walk through the elevator doors to get in and has no push button for disabled patrons. The elevator will also get stuck on what ever floor its on if someone leaves the first door even slightly open. The entry doors do not have push buttons to open for disabled patrons. When you check in they have no signs or things on their bookings that show they "require you to leave your car keys with them at the desk so they can access your vehicle's any time to move them around as needed." They also make you sign a disclosure saying that they are not liable for damage to your car or property. After disagreeing about leaving our keys with them because insurance would be our problem if they backed into someone else they told us to remove our car from the property if we did not like those terms, and also kept insisiting it was listed in their parking terms. (As of right now it still is not listed). Im sure this hotel is great for able bodied patrons that don't mind leaving their car in the hands of other's, but for us it was a bad experience. Their idea of free breakfast is an open box of donuts or small muffins that anyone can sneeze and touch. We also paid $60 for parking in a garage instead of on sight.

Room was basic, big, comfy, clean and with a good bathroom with plenty of hot water. There was a fridge and microwave but no cups or cutlery etc. we didnt use so didnt matter. Car parking was also available. This was a great value for money little place

Great little hotel very close to the Miami Convention Center with an easy 10 minute walk. Wonderful location close to famous shopping area, great dining and of course, the beach. Free on site parking if space is available during your stay (not guaranteed) but I have never had a problem. Staff and the Manager is super friendly and helpful. Great WIFI and air conditioning ! Light breakfast and coffee is available in the lobby. I always enjoy my stay at the James Hotel and highly recommend it.

The staff were very helpful. We were able to find a proper parking. This hotel has a cute vibe. Beach and several restaurants were in walking distance. The restroom was newly renovated. The light in the main room can be improved.

I found 3 roaches in 3 days from check in to check out. They could not move our room cause they were fully booked. Day one roach was so big I stepped on it but it could still be alive in there garbage can outside. So gross do NOT stay in room 106 if you happen to choose this place! I guess it only happens in that room according to the staff!!!

Very close to the beach, shops and restaurants. Walkable. They also cleaned the room everyday if we asked which was nice. Small breakfast 8:00-12:00 at the lobby from Dunkin’ Donuts was also nice.

It's like an hotel from 1950. Beds and restrooms are not clean and strains can be found all around the room

The property is by far one of the least expensive in South Beach. It’s walking distance from everything and has free parking. However, the place needs some serious deep cleaning/upgrades. There is mold all over the ceiling, rust on shower rods, and stains everywhere: walls, curtains, mattress, sheets, etc.

The location is very good, but otherwise the place was not clean. Our bathroom did not look thoroughly clean, with a lot of long strands of hair stuck to the wall and hair dryer. The bed linens looked drained and discolored. Their requirement to hold car everyone's car keys is strange.

Room smells damp, floor is dirty, our feet turned black. Sofa bed futon mattress has big dirty stains and couch cover is so nasty!! We asked for extra sheet and blanket. They said no. Don’t go there !!

It was a clean well run hotel fun place to stay right near the beach cool. We had a good time.

The room and property was as shown in the pictures. The bed was comfy. The blankets a bit outdated but goes with the theme/history of the aged hotel. Newly renovated, good a/c, free WiFi, and lots of channels for television watchers. The place was clean and in a very convenient location to shopping, the beach, the Fillmore Theater and the Convention Center. I would absolutely stay again.

Staff were wonderful. Rooms were good, but could hear everything happening in the hallway. Parking was really nice! Adore the aesthetic of the hotel!! Food, convenience stores, and convention center all very close by on foot. Plan on staying again in the future :)

Great location but dated building. Beds were uncomfortable and bed covers were very worn and dated. TV had no remote and no way to turn on. Staff were friendly and check-in was very easy. Can’t say enough about the location though. Easy to walk to the beach, shopping and restaurants. This is a great budget-friendly hotel.

I had a mixed experience during my stay at this hotel. Check-in was a bit unconventional as I arrived late and had to wait for the staff to open the door after providing my reservation details. While this process is understandable for security reasons, it was a bit inconvenient. The use of a traditional key instead of a key card was a bit old-fashioned but manageable. The room’s door only has a lock on the handle, which was a bit less secure than expected. Although there is an elevator, I didn’t need it since my room was on the first floor. However, be aware that there are a few steps leading up to the first floor. The air conditioning worked perfectly, which was a relief. Unfortunately, the sheets in the room were different from what was shown in the pictures and were not very comfortable, but they were still acceptable. I also encountered several issues: the phone and one of the two lamps in the room were nonfunctional, and neither the TV nor the Wi-Fi was working during my stay. On a positive note, the restroom was clean and everything there was in good working order. The room did have a table, fridge, ceiling fan, and microwave, which were useful. One downside was the noise outside the room around 9 a.m. since you can hear everything going on in the hallway, which disrupted the otherwise peaceful environment. Overall, the room was satisfactory for my needs as a place to rest, but improvements in amenities and maintenance could make the stay more pleasant.

It's all about location. Hotel offers great value for the location but it is dated. Bed was not comfortable and room was located close to the parking lot which made it a little noisy.

A perfectly functional hotel with a great location near convention center and Lincoln road. It's an odd, irreverent and has slightly unnerving décor but somehow with some flea market charm. There is zero fancy about the hotel but I didn't need it for much more than that. Would totally consider again if I never expected to have guests lol.

The staffs are rude. It seemed that they are annoyed with something. I travelled with a baby and they started to comment even when the baby just touched at something. Always saying that if break you have to pay. Also at the time of check out, there was a big box with little garbage in it. I threw some trash items in it and the receptionist started to yell. I told him that i thought it to be a dustbin, thats why threw here. But he was not listening to me and was in his own zone. The only plus thing at this hotel is the parking and secondly its close to miami beach. I guess thats the biggest advantage of staying in this hotel. Over all good experience and i would request the receptionist to be little polite to their guests. Thanks.!

Loved the decorations and the aesthetic of the place. The girl at the front desk was very nice and fun. The free parking is definitely a plus.

We loved the location which was walkable, not only to Miami Beach, but the surrounding shops/parks. Great to be able to leave our bags before/after our stay so we could still explore.before our flights. The internet was intermittent, so a bit annoying. Very arty with lots of memorabilia around the walls that made it interesting and nice.

Good location, close to the convention center, only 2 blocks walking to the beach.

A bit aged, with a weird decoration... over decorated in the reception, but the rooms are OK, with fridge and TV, good space, good bathroom. The bed was too soft, for those uded to hard cushion. Simple coffee with donuts and fruit.... but the best... they do have a parking lot without extra charge....

The convenience including parking and the location of this property is the only real positive. I found the staff to be marginal in terms of welcoming and appreciating me as a guest. The James Hotel operates in an old traditional method and offers " a continental breakfast" where a staff member sits next to the coffee pot and manages and controls a box of donuts. The staff provides parking but requires you to turn in your car keys even though it is not valet service. No safes in the room for protection of valuables. The lock on the door does not have a deadbolt or provide any sense of security. Some significant upgrades are needed at this place.

Fantastic location , free parking, and a reasonable room rate make this a great stay for folks on a budget. Just don’t expect a luxury experience. Staff was friendly, and the free pastries in the morning was a nice touch. Hotel lobby is exotic and very old school Miami. Rooms were fairly minimal , but clean.

It was OK and I don't really have any complaints. I looked at the reviews before I booked and I knew what to expect. It was far from luxury but it was however a cheap hotel in the busy Collins Avenue area of Miami. Look, I paid £75 ($57) per night FOR 4 ADULTS. I was VERY Happy with that. We shared a room with 2 double beds, a fridge and microwave. It had a shower and toilet and toiletries were provided with limited towels but we just asked for more. Free coffee and a doughnut were in reception for breakfast. Parking is absolutely free. We just parked up, left it there for the duration of our 2 day stay and walked and bussed. I suggest that if you want a cheap, no frills hotel, then it's fine. But if you want something more luxury, then it's probably not for you. What I would say, is to take note of reviews like mine, then you shouldn't be disappointed or have need to complain. Take a look at the colourful decoration. It's very eye catching

Unique hotel and unique travel experience. Excellent location, free parking, very friendly and helpful staff. Love the coffee, donuts, and fruits provided for free every morning in the lobby of the hotel. Will definitely book this hotel again for my next visit to Miami Beach.

The building was very unique , we stayed with kids and they were so excited to check all the statues every time we enter to the lobby . The elevator was very slow , hotel is old but clean . Loved the morning donuts and coffee . Very close to everything but also not noisy . Will go back there again :)

Didn't have hot water - barely warm. No coffee available until 8 am. A/C was ineffective. Not the cleanest of places. Security/Night person was asleep when i went outside at 6am - I could have come in or out and he wouldn't have known. As a lone female traveller, this was not very reassuring,

Coffee was never available in the mornings. There was always an excuse. Other than that place was average for an old property.
