Old Mill Motel

This is one of the best in view motels that I have stayed. We were going to Manitoulin island and couldn't find a place near the island and we booked with old mill and my god that was the best decision. Even though it was a bit far from island, the stay was amazing. We had BBQ and bonfire near the lake and our rooms were adjescent to the lake and it was soo beautiful. I would give 5 starts to this beautiful motel. And the owner/ front desk was so pleasant and accommodating.

I like how you could park in front of your door, benches outside yoyr door fir you to see and see the lake. How it was easy to walk down to the lake, a little veach behind the motel. What i didn't like was the stained carpet, the plcement of the A/C unit hard to get fresh air to us it was blocked by a wall. The last thing was that there was no storage in the bathroom or in the room to put ur clothes just a closet with about 8 hangers. The person running the place was amazing he accommodated us to my physical needs.

A clean, no-frills hotel with great staff and an excellent view of the river. Pet-friendly, with nature walks next to the hotel, and close to very good Pizza. If you stay in Blind River, this is the place to go.

This place is disgusting. The door did not close right so drafty the coffee machine had wrong pot and did not drip the power cord was frayed and burnt and could ketch fire Bath tub tap came away from wall when turning shower on the towels were hard and scratch my skin the dog area is 10×10 and no phone in room to call front desk The reservation didnt include my dog even though i told them so had to pay $50 extra for my dog for 2 days

Nice view of the river. Rooms are very dated and old. Location is great right downtown and convenient to restaurants. Lots of parking onsite.

Excellent place to stay with pets. Friendly staff

THe view is perfect but that is the only thing that makes this motel above the rest. Our bathroom door wouldn't even close but the room was clean and did not smell. THe parking lot needs alot of attention. Entrance to the room is dangerous for someone that is unsure of their footing as it has three different levels.

A clean place in a small town, beds were a bit lumpy but the waterfall right outside the door with a place to sit was nice. There was a BBQ if you wanted to grill something.

Poor maintained building and yard area. Outdated furniture that looked like it was picked up off the side of the road. Room was tidy but bathroom was dirty from previous guests. Would not recommend this motel.

Nice location on the water. Room was clean, but had a very distinctly bad odor. Towels also smelled badly. Should replace all bedding and towels. It would go a long ways toward receiving a more positive rating.

Well I didnt know pet friendly meant dirty! My young daughter and i were traveling through the area so booked a stay because the pictures were all decent. They asked if i had a pet and so of course i said yes a small dog. When i walked into the room there was dog hair from previous pets all over the ground, spill marks on the walls, the bed side lamp had an inch of dust on it as well as one of the only power sources. It was also supposed to be smoke free but the place reeked of smoke. Because it was nonrefundable my daughter and I went to the store and picked up cleaning supplies as well as scented items to try to make the stay more enjoyable. My daughter still cried before bed wanting to sleep in the car. Paid $23 pet fee and had to spend $40 on cleaning supplies. Not happy at all

Room was clean but there were a lot of fruit flies in the room. Rooms need updating.

Extremely dirty and outdated! Shower curtain had boogers on it. Stains on the blankets. Very outdated with tiny rooms.

The room was relatively clean but very old and dingy. The tub and shower area had mold around the top of it but the hot water was plentiful. The beds were not terribly comfortable. There was no screen on the window. There was absolutely nowhere to get any food as all the restaurants are closed and even Tim Hortons was under renovation. The most positive thing would be the beautiful falls and water at the back of the property.

Room was filthy and disgusting. I opened the door and about 10 garbage flies came flying out. If it was so late and already booked through Expedia I would have just left but almost 175 dollars later. I didn't sleep and left as soon as it started to get light out wouldn't even shower in that old moldy bathroom. Wish I could give it a 0 star rating

The rooms could be cleaner.

We were disappointed in the cleanliness of the room.

The location was nice; it was right on the river and lakefront. The problem was that the room was not cleaned properly and there was used soap in the shower and garbage from the previous guests. Also, the furniture in the room was worn out and uncomfortable. There were rooms that were better situated for a view of the river or the lake and mine was supposed to be lake view but really was not at all.

Scenery is nice but it is 1959 palace. The dead bolt doesn’t work and I’m alone.. it’s very expensive for what it is. But the pillows are nice. It’ll have to do in a pinch.

Noisy. Lousy shower. Faucets were loose. Curtains were so thin and exterior lights were so bright the room was lit up all night making sleeping very difficult.

Older motel in a nice setting! Skimpy on supplies...2 ppl, 1 coffee cup. Needs room darkening shades as very bright all night. Bonus not mentioned in ad: fridge / microwave. Enjoyed our stay, but night was a struggle.

Room was clean. Fridge, microwave worked fine. A/C would have worked fine if we'd noticed we needed to turn it on. Room was tiny. No closet. Only place to put suitcase was on a suitcase stand, blocking the desk that had the fridge. Managed to balance other suitcase on the desk chair. Curtains didn't block light and there was a bright light in the parking lot that kept the room well lit all night. Fortunately we brought face masks, so managed to sleep. Our room faces parking lot, and we could back our car right up to the door. Was convenient for our 1 night. But there was no view of the river from our room like I had expected. I had thought I'd get both, but I guess they manage twice as many rooms but making them small, and facing only parking lot or water. So did the job, but was complicated to use.

Property is a convenient stop over half-way point however on a lower end of the scale as far as room updateness goes. Needs a face-lift and room color scheme changes. Old building. Nice that Tim's is close by and an awesome Pizza place for a meal.

Room was very hot! Window was open and air conditioner was iced over. We were given a different room and the remote didn't turn on the TV. The bedside lamp didn't work. There was a very strong smell everywhere of marijuana. We won't be back and wouldn't recommend it to anyone!

The room was dated but clean. The riverview room was pleasant, but lots of smokers in the corridor which made it difficult to sit outside. Also difficult to load room from the parking lot, had to haul coolers and luggage through the hotel and down stairs.

The room did not same as its advertise. Room was so small. AC was old and loud specially at night. only a small window by the door it make not good air circulation in the room. feel like being in jail. The curtain by the window was not blackout so the room so bright at night because the walk way light was in front of the window. Not go back there again and not recommended.

Great stay very friendly staff

The hotel insisted i had to upside my room because we have two service dogs. We stay w the service dogs all across North America and no one has ever asked this. I asked the manager to provide me the regulation three times with no response. I do not trust this establishment

The check in experience was perfect! The gentlemen who checked in myself and my daughter was very organized and pleasant. The stay it self was very quiet and very clean. Overall, no complaints during this stay!

Nothing to like about this Motel. Stay away at all costs!!! Firstly, I was told the that the room I booked, the Deluxe, King, Lakeview, with Fireplace was "unavailable". I was offered a very poorly kept double queen room that we could not even consider staying in. They provided a different double queen room which was only very marginally better. I was not offered the difference in price. The staff advised to follow up with Expedia. When I went to bring this issue to Expedia, they did not offer any compensation either. The very small room had very uneven floors, carpet was disgusting, wires, ac adapters, cables dangling/hanging all under the TV which was wall mounted up high. Only one chair and the tiniest desk (un-usable), and the chair was broken (like someone put their steel toed boot through it) Paneling was coming off walls. The bathtub and surround was all cracked and discolored from smoke. The list of issues is too long to continue. They charged $182 for this atrocious room when I booked it on Expedia!!!!! The staff were unavailable in the morning of checkout, so I could not bring a further discussion of my concerns to ask for a refund for the difference. As stated, Expedia has not been any help either and I will likely not deal with them any more. Overall, a truly disappointing experience and proves to me, yet again, that customer services is irrelevant and non-existent in these times. Very sad indeed.

Clean room, friendly staff, convenient location

Poor interior of room as it was not visually pleasing, a/c did not work. Only one light bulb working in bathroom, the fixture has placement for four bulbs. The owner knocked on my door 45 minutes prior to check out asking if I was checking out or not. I didn’t appreciate the intrusion at all. I would not recommend.

We arrived a lot later than we expected and the staff were still very welcoming. The is a great place to spend some time when travelling in Northern Ontario.

No one was available at front desk and when I walked around back of motel near river door was open for a room that was cleaned and it was rather unsanitary. We had an appointment and could not wait any longer The lady called us at 10:30 that night to find out where we ended up and remarked that she would still charge us for the room regardless .

Very scenic location with wonderful view of falls and river. Check-in was above expectations. This property is undergoing renovations but this did not effect our enjoyment of it. Would definitely book this lodging again.

It’s a trade off. You can’t beat the location, especially if you’re on the river side.Near the centre of town and looking onto the river with fabulous rushing waterfalls at your doorstep. There are even benches outside the room for morning breakfast beside the water. The room itself is basic but clean and well appointed. Good value for the price. Only complaint is how noisy the AC unit is and the rooms should have blackout curtains as the outside light is on all night. Otherwise with earplugs and face mask, we slept well in the comfortable beds.

Right on the river where it enters the North Channel of Lake Huron, such a lovely view. On the down side it's also right on the Trans Canada Highway & a railway line, but that's what earplugs are for.

Restaurants were within walking distance and the lake was a short walk away.

This is an absolute jem. The water side is beautiful. Falling asleep listening to the water was great for my soul. Check in was perfect. Host was friendly and welcoming. Beds are super comfy. Great stay!

We were very happy at the location of the hotel in Blind River. We could walk across the street to a great restaurant & there is a park beside property with a sand beach.

It was the nearest, walkable motel to City Marina, where I kept my boat. The clean room was fairly basic, but had everything I needed and then some. The bed was comfortable, the shower was hot and the AC/heat worked well. In addition there was a microwave and a small fridge.

This is just a rundown motel with a fancy name. There was not a single restaurant open except Tim Hortons.

I used the delight room and the view was amazing. Very convenient location as the 17 Restaurant and Tim Hortons are just across the street. As well the motel Owner "Brat" was very friendly.

We were supposed to stay at the old mill hotel, but they called and said that they had a Water-main break and we’re not able to have people stay there, but when we went by the hotel, the parking lot was full. They sent us to a small town, which was 45 minutes to an hour away, had no amenities. The only restaurant around was a chip truck very disappointed.

We were very happy at the location of the hotel in Blind River. We could walk across the street to a great restaurant & there is a park beside property with a sand beach.
