Eco-hotel El Rey del Caribe

Food was fresh. Rooms cleaned very well. We didn’t use pool, but it was cleaned daily. The goal of this hotel is to be as environmentally run as feasible. If you don’t share these beliefs, maybe stay elsewhere?

No hot water. Bad internet. Non-functioning jacuzzi

Front desk staff were very friendly! Such a nice first impression! The place itself is great, like an oasis in the middle of all the busy roads in Cancun. It doesn’t feel like that though. There are plenty of plants and the swimming pool, although small, really does the job. We did not have it crowded once and the only time we had to share it with other guests, it was really pleasant. The rooms are very big and comfortable. I didn’t have an option to have a basic room only when I booked it so mine had a small electric stove, very powerful fridge and some glasses and other crockery. Wifi was really reliable and I was even able to use it to video call other people. The air conditioning was not very powerful perhaps because the room was so big but I was not hot at all. The bedding is great, clean and it was a kingsize one. Pillows were very comfortable and the shower was powerful and relaxing. Breakfast was not excellent for vegans. Perhaps something they should consider as there are more and more people nowadays going plant based. I know this is not the best idea to suggest in Mexico but given the amount of international guests they accommodate, it should be something to think about. Breakfast staff, like everyone else, were really friendly, polite and attentive. Lovely people all around. The neighbourhood is also great with a nice Taqueria only a few minutes walk from the hotel. There is also a large supermarket and other restaurants around.

Loved this place! The rooms were plane and simple and the water pressure was lacking but the garden oasis more than made up for this! It’s so comfortable and cozy that it just makes you feel at peace! The breakfast in the morning was great because it was your choice of fresh scrambled Mexican eggs, eggs with ham, or pancakes. The menu varied a little each day. It was so nice to have fresh breakfast rather than something all carbs. It was very close walking distance to a street with more modern restaurants as well as the downtown that is more old authentic. This was a great place to stay if you want to explore the city and come back to a peaceful atmosphere. There’s also massage and yoga on site. Unfortunately I had trouble signing up for yoga but it would have been beautiful.

The garden is plenty of tropical plants that fuse with pergolas, hammocks, and the pool.

Friendly reception, AC only works when you’re in the room, close to ADO bus station and free breakfast. Beautiful greenery throughout hotel. Pool seemed dirty. Overall decent hotel.

The hotel is fine for a one-night stay, but our car, parked in front in designated spots, was broken into during the night. Items stolen from the trunk included our spare tire, sneakers, and a jacket. Definitely not safe for the parking.

The staff here was super kind and helpful! My Spanish isn’t great and they were willing to help me in English, and be patient as I wanted to practice Spanish. They went above and beyond to answer any questions I had. The included breakfast had a menu to choose from with a variety of options. The pool was also empty of people nearly the entire time I was there; so I was able to swim and float in solitude. It was really the retreat I needed.

Had requested 1st floor as stairs are very difficult for me. Was put on the second floor. Was told there was an elevator. Elevator didn't work. Desk found a first floor room for us after this.

Très bon séjour. La chambre était grande, bien équipée et décorée dans un joli style mexicain. L’hôtel est bien situé, à proximité du Parque de las Palapas, très agréable surtout en soirée. Tout était propre. Le personnel est très accueillant et le petit déjeuner est très bon.

Wij zijn over alles heel tevreden. Personeel was super aardig. Ontbijt veel keuze en lekker. Kamer schoon. Koelkast aanwezig. Het was te koud voor het zwembad, maar dit werd toch netjes schoongemaakt. Rustige plek met mooie begroeiing. Prima bed! En dat alles dichtbij het busstation en een grote supermarkt. aanwezig

Room was spotless. Has a kitchette. Staff were awesome. Nice clean hotel and complimentary yummy breakfast.

Noisy and dirty

The staff were polite and helpful. The food was fine. The room had one window which looked out onto a green lattice fence one foot away from the window which meant the room was dark and had no view. We found two cockroaches in the room. The fridge was unplugged and when we asked it to be plugged in we noticed the fridge leaked a lot of water on the floor and had been taped to try to stop this. Needless to say we were disappointed and cannot recommend staying at this hotel. The pictures looked much better than the reality.

The hotel is kept spotless! Very safe area. My only complaint is not having the pots and pans that I requested before my stay. After a couple of days, I was given a small pan which helped, as I wanted to make a few things on my own without having to venture out. I never did get hot water in the shower but I did not mention it to the staff. I'm sure they would have been right on it! The AC worked great and I had my own little porch area to sit outside. The pool was nice, however, it's not possible to lounge and get a tan because of all of the trees making shade from the sun. Overall, I would stay again!!

L'hôtel était très tranquille, le patio intérieur avec piscine très joli. Hôtel bien situé, près de la gare routière. Possibilité de prendre des bus pour aller à la plage. Point à améliorer : ma chambre était très sombre, avec aucune vue extérieure puisqu'un grillage vert était posé devant la fenêtre. Et quand j'ouvrais ma porte, j'avais une vue sur les poubelles. L'hôtel annonce des actes écologiques mais le produit à vaisselle mis à disposition n'est pas écologique. Il faudrait mettre à disposition plus de tables pour le petit-déjeuner : un matin j'ai dû attendre debout pour ensuite m'asseoir avec d'autres clients pour prendre le petit déjeuner Au final, la balance prix - qualité de service est très déséquilibré.

Room was clean, staff was friendly, for the price we paid this hotel was exactly what I expected and how it was portrayed on this site.

The staff was friendly and the property was unique. Beautiful gardens, and very peaceful. Only downside was there was no hot water. Cold showers.

It is a lovely place, that offers good value. Located close to a nice street with many food OPTIONS (el Socio Naiz was the best of all!) and quite close to Zona Hotelera (by car). Breakfast included was a plus. The only two things they could improve on was on having hot water, which usually was cold at night and lukewarm at best during the day, and WiFi connection.

Bed was terrific. Large room was dated but clean with a fridge and stove. Large bathroom and spacious shower. Nice breakfast with service. Inner court yard full of plants and trees. Very relaxing peaceful place to stay in the heart of downtown, close to grocery shopping and restaurants. $1 bus to the hotel zone and gorgeous public beaches. Pool was small but you could still enjoy some lap swimming.

A really nice and spacious room with an excellent sink; including plates and cutlery. Tv was higly functional. Air conditioning excellent. Lovely pool. Ideal for swimming 🏊‍♀️ a mile or whatever you choose. I would highly recommend this hotel for all.

Staff were so friendly and courteous, and let me practice my Spanish. The hotel rooms are basic but comfortable with a lovely hot shower. The hotel is perfectly located close to the ADO, a supermarket and a short walk to downtown Cancun but also a 30 minute walk to The nearest beach. It’s a lovely peaceful and relaxing hotel to stay in

The ambience of the hotel is excellent, A blend of nature and beauty in the middle of Downtown. I would suggest it for anyone who would like to explore the city in a peaceful manner, overall few places I feel like they could improve is their wifi system since there were some places in the hotel where you barely had wifi and the breakfast could have been better options.

Great staff and service. Biggest disappointments are water pressure, and temp. control of showers. Either the system fluctuates temp a lot, or a bad mixing valve in the shower. Ask maintenance to fix, and they just replaced the shower head. The issue was still there. Sadly, can't stay here again when it takes a half hour to shower and burning to freezing fast fluctuations. I would never want a child to shower and have that water temp. keep changing to burning hot. I had to step out of the shower stream when it went hot about every 2 minutes.

The hotel is in the middle of a beautiful tropical garden, with statues, fountains, etc. all very nice and relaxing. Unfortunately our bedroom was not up to our expectations, very dark, stuck between garbage bins ans the street, bathroom not up to a 3star hotel, TV not working... But seeing other bedrooms in the property, things are very different, some of them are large and beautiful. Bad luck for us! The staff is very polite and helpful.

Accueil terne et froid mais rapide. Accompagnement jusqu'à la chambre pour les explications de fonctionnement de la clim. Malheureusement c'est côté rue très passante,sans double vitrage ni rideau occultant efficace. L'environnement intérieure version jungle est apaisante, la piscine agreable mais le jaccusi n'est pas trés puissant. Bonne literie mais le bruit de la rue. Petit dejeuner servi en terrasse cafe, jus de fruit, petite assiette de fruits frais et un plat au choix combinant un ensemble convenable. Bonne adresse mais demander cour interieure pour plus de calme.

I would stay here again, Jessica the receptionists in the morning and Selene in the afternoon, kitchen staff Reyna and July, plus the housekeeper Isabel and the great hostess shift manager Julio and also the maintenance man and grounds keeper all do an excellent and superb service, it’s an outstanding place to stay ! You get the Mexican hospitality and feel the positive energy and vibes. The grocery store and bus station are just around the corner and is easy access. I would highly recommend this very nice hotel, everything in the rooms are very nice and roomy.

The front manager was very understanding. He told me that we were going to stay in the 2nd floor and I told him that we have mobility issues and if it is possible for us to stay on the ground floor so we did. He even helped carry ur luggages to the room. To top it all there was a kitchen. You have a beautiful garden where we hang around for a long time after we checked out.Many thanks.

We arrived after midnight, our welcome was lovely, the staff members were very professional and helpful. They answered all our questions with kindness! ( Our Spanish isn’t good and we had many !!) I loved wandering in the courtyard full of trees, plants, etc.

The front desk staff here - Tatiana and Jo - are lovely people. Very helpful and friendly! The breakfasts are moderate in size and taste good, although the sauce on the chilaquiles was very clearly watered down two mornings in a row. The property is very interesting, with neat architecture and fascinating pocket spaces. The greenery here is beautiful! However, things went from bad to worse each day of our stay. Our first room was decidedly lacking in privacy and unreasonably noisy with hotel staff work taking place outside the window at early hours. Our second room had a broken air conditioning unit which the maintenance staff was later able to partially resurrect. And, near the end of our stay, either the housekeeper or a maintenance worker walked off with my wife's wallet. This is not a baseless accusation or mere speculation; it was, unequivocally, one of the two who took it. We reported the issue, but our departure was mere hours later, and we just took the L on our way out. Future guests be forewarned.

Hotel staff was so nice!

Hard to believe this was in downtown Cancun because it was so quiet and peaceful once you walk past the gates and inside. Beautiful garden to relax in. Good breakfast. Comfortable room. (Bring your own lock for the locker though.) Great location near Avenida Tulum to take a bus anywhere, including Hotel Zone, and near ADO bus station if you are taking a bus anywhere else in Mexico. I would stay here again.

Convenient location close to the ADO bus station, a grocery store and many restaurants. The pool on site is small, but well maintained and is a nice oasis in the busy Centro.

It’s very safe and walkable in downtown. You can get easy transportation (buses and taxis). Good restaurants surrounding.

We had a lovely stay at this hotel. Very centrally located within walking distance of the centre and around the corner from the bus station. Very friendly staff, both at reception and the magnificent staff serving breakfast. Peaceful courtyard with swimming pool. Comfortable beds and rooms with all the facilities you could need! So good we stayed here twice!

After a long journey for the UK we were greeted by a very friendly and helpful man (wish we’d gotten his name!), his service was really exceptional. The property feels like a little oasis with the greenery and privacy. The cooked breakfast included is also a lovely bonus. Supermarkets and restaurants nearby, plus good transport links to other parts of Cancun

Les chambres sont autour d’un îlot de végétation, c’est différent et très beau. A 2 minutes de marche de la gare Ado. Déjeuner à la carte avec un bon choix sur le menu. Je recommande.

wonderful service, large cold bottles of water available for $1, good breakfast, very laid back. just remember to bring mosquito repellant and close your doors fast behind you b/c like any natural tropical property/courtyard there re mosquitos.

I really enjoyed my stay here. It was beautiful, just like the pictures. I loved stepping out of my room and feeling like I was in nature surrounded by a mini-forest inside the hotel courtyard. The breakfast was nice (just keep in mind that the restaurant is only for breakfast- they aren't open for lunch or dinner and no bar). The staff was helpful and kind. There are some restaurants right next to and across the street from the hotel. It was very convenient to be so close to the ADO bus station; I could walk there in about 5 minutes.

Fussläufig zum Busbahnhof, Restaurant direkt daneben und zahlreiche andere auch fussläufig. Kleine Aussenküche bei unserem Zimmer dabei, praktisch. Yoga wird morgens angeboten, was wir zufällig entdeckt haben. Wasser leider kalt beim Duschen und Frühstück nur 1 Gericht aus Karte wählbar, also wer hungrig ist und zwei Gerichte will, muss extra zahlen. Als Stoppoverhotel trotzdem eine gute Option.

Everything was as advertised and as expected for the price and location. Incredible value, especially since the breakfast is made to order. Great spot if you need to catch an early bus from the nearby ADO station.

The hotel was eco friendly and different to the high-rise white hotels within the Cancun area. It was a 3 star and it behaved like one. Staff were very helpful. Room was spacious with a huge comfy bed and some basic kitchen facilities for take away type food. No fridge which was disappointing and the water on offer was luke warm during a very hot spell of weather. Cold bottled water could be accessed at a cost. Breakfast was basic but adequate. It suited a short stay. The area within was prettily laid out with trees and shrubs with a very small pool.

Schone kamer, vriendelijk personeel. Douche was vaak koud of heel warm. Ontbijt was matig. Prima voor 1 nachtje, maar prijs-kwaliteit is wel uit verhouding.
