Hotel Frangos was unique and well located. Parking is free and on-site but it was a struggle to get our things up 2 1/2 flights of stairs. I realise it’s an old building and we were aware of this but I think there could be an offer of assistance when required. We booked the terrace room for the terrace but it was difficult to step onto it as it was rather overgrown by a grapevine. We couldn’t even see over it at first as it was so high so we threaded the vines down a bit lower. We got a text the day before that check in was now 3pm due to COVID staffing problems. Fair enough but there was no sweetener offered like later checkout for example. The room was rather pricey too so we thought they could benefit from a coffee machine perhaps rather than just instant Nescafé. Finally to add that the chairs were really comfortable and the bathroom excellent with a lovely spa in it.

I scraped my bumper on car park entry, the male toilet is a disgrace, cubicle light not working, graffiti on te door, items mived with wall not patched, no cable tv, no one on reception, noone in the restaurant or bar, i cant stand ordering via the app, creates zero relationship with the paying customer, carpet needs replacing, worn and stained.

Staying in the heart of Daylesford was a pleasure, and Hotel Frangos offered a very central location. Having our own off-street parking was a big plus. The room itself was comfortable, with tea and coffee facilities, a small bar fridge, and a king bed that provided a good night’s sleep. The spa bath was another highlight and our second favourite feature of the stay. That said, the room did show signs of age and wear. Some light switches were missing buttons, the room lighting was very, very poor, the credenza’s glass top was cracked, and the shower had visible mould. Overall, comfortable and convenient, but in definite need of some urgent updating. Investing and taking care of this beautiful iconic venue is essential so that it can be preserved for many generations to come. Perhaps the owners Fairwork proceedings and fines did not help

Hotel Frangos is very convenient hotel to stay right in the centre of the town. Restaurants/bar downstairs. Would definitely stay here again. She is an old property, so do expect some creaking of the floorboards

The room was spacious, modern and very clean. the only negatives were it was awkward to carry luggage up the many stairs (but the Receptionist helped) and the cups in the room were tiny expresso ones and I drink tea. The bed was comfortable which is very important. The location is excellent and you don't need to leave the building to eat your meals.Great base for exploring the township.

This hotel is not the standard that the pictures depict. In the photos our room should have had a pod coffee machine (Walnut Room 8), it did NOT. The velour headboard was covered in dust and hadn’t been cleaned for months, the same with all of the shirting boards and carpet by the bedsides. None of the HD tv channels worked, the tv was that old. The shower one side had black mould. We arrived 30 minutes before check to be greeted by a rude male staff member who told us in no uncertain terms checkin was 3pm, even though the room was ready. The hotel failed to service our room and we had to locate staff for fresh towels and more toiletries. In summary avoid this hotel like the plague. Definitely not worth the star rating. We will not return.

Very disappointed overall. Bathroom was filthy, spoke to management and was told it would be cleaned and wasn’t. Had to shower with thongs on and could not walk barefoot on bathroom floor it was so dirty. Was told management I spoke to would be in touch later and no contact at all. Bed was two singles pushed together which was not the most comfortable. Disappointing considering what we paid.

Great comfortable bed,but rooms are getting a bit run down and could do with a fresh coat of paint.My room 'the nest ' had a hand held shower head over the bath which was rediculos and was too hard to use,a proper shower would be easy to install.But the spa bath was lovely.Over all a good stay with attentive staff.

Daylesford is a lovely place to visit with plenty of dining and other options. However, Hotel Frangos was disappointing due solely to the standard of the room we occupied. It was very tired and badly in need of refurbishment. Even the TV in our room was substandard in that there were only two channels. A staff member said there was an outage in the town but this was not correct when we inquired elsewhere.

We didn’t have a lot of interaction with staff, but the few were courteous. The room was moderately comfortable. We would have appreciated two chairs rather than assuming you can sit on the bed at all times. We were surprised that there was no window in the room which gave it a cave like feel.

Location is excellent. Room is tired, with squeaky floorboards, damaged shower floor tiles and generally needs a revamp. Bed was uncomfortable and in the morning the banging of a downstairs door, staff used yo set up for breakfast was loud and made it hard ti sleep.

I stayed at Hotel Frangos during the New Year period. The hotel is situated close to all shops, restaurants and amenities of Daylesford. Upon arrival, the staff at the reception quickly got us checked into the Monroe room. This particular room features a circular bed with a mirror above the bed. I felt the bed was very comfortable and woke up well rested the following morning The bathroom has an excellent spa bath, however, does have glass doors which limits privacy. This may be something to be mindful, it’s definitely more suited to couples. The complimentary Wi-Fi at the hotel was fast and reliable, which was excellent for staying in touch with friends and family as we didn’t have phone reception in Daylesford. Some of the rooms could use some extra care, as I saw some signs of peeling paint. I hope that the owner could put some funds into maintenance.

2 star hotel advertised as 4 stars. By far the WORST hotel I’ve ever encountered. Arrived to what looked to be a make shift reception, staff looked drunk with terrible body odour. Followed by not being able to find my booking, then not having any keys left. After waiting 30 minutes I was let in my room and told to wait there and someone would bring keys to me. The room was filthy with dead flies on the bed and a bunch more buzzing around the room, and nobody ever came with the keys. I went back to reception to ask for the keys, then a different man finally got the room the keys. But before handing them to me he sneezed then rubbed his mouth/nose and gave me the keys with the same hand. I was absolutely disgusted and left the hotel in the same moment. I didn’t even bother to engage for a refund - just an absolute disgrace.

I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Frangos! They were very accomodating with helping me check-in before my event in Daylesford. The room was beautiful with lovely ammenities and a huge luxurious bathroom. Would recommend to anyone wanting to stay right in the heart of Daylesford!

I booked the most basic room and was upgraded which was a lovely surprise. I was nervous after reading some bad reviews however I had a wonderful stay. The room could have been slightly cleaner but it was not terrible, or even bad for that matter. The room was huge, comfortable, warm, nicely decorated. The bath was heaven. And the staff were super lovely. Will definitely be back.

Walked into a room full of flies, so we spent the first 45mins shooing them out! Food was mediocre - steak was mostly fat and overcooked, placed onto of fries. Service was very random... we had the bartender serve us, and then a server who was serving in the back beer garden serve us... no one really knew want was going on. We checked out a day earlier. Do not recommend.
