Great view of the bay from the room. Room was just the right size. Kruge in the room. Coffee shop on site for breakfast. Several smaller restaurants in the area and a small liquor store for odds and ends. Calm and quiet area. Parking not that great.

This was our first stay at the Back Bay Inn. We will be back. The hotel has clean rooms at a fair price. The inn is surrounded by a lovely garden and offers a view of the back bay of Morro Bay. They have a wine hour in the afternoon and they provide a voucher for morning coffee/breakfast at the small business next to the hotel. I would have liked tea and cocoa available as an alternative to coffee or wine. They have some pet friendly rooms--many dogs being walked in the neighborhood. Great deli across the street.

This is a gem on the Morro Bay! We stopped there on our way back to the Bay Area from San Diego. What a surprise! The grounds are absolutely beautiful, the staff very friendly and the room was spacious although we didn’t have a view but we were traveling with our dog and were very happy they accepted pets (for a fee). The bathroom could use an update tho. The new restaurant Mirazur recently opened on the grounds offers delicious options for a nice dinner. The vouchers at the Nautical Bean for breakfast were also a tasty surprise. We truly enjoyed walking along the bay after a long drive and the next day before leaving. We will definitely stop there again and would recommend this beautiful hotel.

Nice, clean, quiet, well-maintained property in an excellent, safe location. Several nearby restaurants are in walking distance. This is my 2nd time staying at this Inn, and I will definitely return when I'm back in the area. This is a dog-friendly facility that charges $30/night per dog, which is on par compared to other places that permit dogs.

I had to give a low rating due to several issues. While the property is beautiful with a great bay view, gardens, and dining options, my stay was disappointing. After returning late, I found my room without power, while the rest of the hotel had electricity. The issue wasn't resolved until 1:30 am, when we were given a space heater, extension cord, camping light, and extra blankets for freezing temperatures. We had to stay in our van for hours as no nearby hotels had vacancies. The room was also unclean, with stained sheets, lumpy pillows, and a refrigerator in the bathroom next to the toilet. Despite booking a more expensive room with a view, I was moved to a cheaper, “pet-friendly” room without a price adjustment, though the pet fee was waived. Additionally, expired coupons were given inlieu of the “breakfast included” and could not be honored by the coffee shop as they expired a few days before we even checked in. Staff were kind, but this hotel lacks proper protocols.

I loved the bay view and being able to sit out on the lawn by the water. All the staff were very friendly. Our bayview room was very clean. It was great to be able to walk to so many different restaurants with a market and bar also just up the street. It's close to Morro Bay for anyone wanting to head to the beach there. There are walking trails close as well. We started 4 nights and never got bored. It was so peaceful and relaxing. If you want off the beaten tourist path, this is definitely the place. Everyone is so dog friendly. This is a place with mostly locals, which is our favorite part.

The staff was very friendly, able to start the check in process since we were early and allowed us access to the grounds before the room was ready for us. The room was very clean and comfortable, the garden was beautiful, and overall was one of the best stays. The fan in our bathroom started acting up and the response was almost immediate to get it fixed. If we come back to the area, we plan to stay here again. Thank you Back Bay Inn!

The “garden view” rooms look upon cars and a small parking lot with the garden beyond so that was not entirely honest. I can appreciate we are in a quiet country area but the tiny shower stall, tiny bathroom sink, and single narrow glass shelf (only wide enough for a tube of toothpaste) did not “read” as the 3.5 star hotel it claims to be. The location however is gorgeous but it is not a 3.5 star hotel. It also smelled so strongly of bleach when we arrived we had to open all the windows and the door. Again, a very low budget experience.

The property photos, all show the upgraded images. Our room was in a non upgraded room with tiny old bathroom and no counter space for toiletries in a small strip of rooms attached to a Thai restaurant where they started equipment before 8am. The property has beautiful grounds but we wish they had put us back away from the noisy neighbors. Could use a new bed.

We love to visit this property but are used to our memory foam beds at home. The mattress was much too hard for our old backs. But the views are beautiful here!

The property is in a nice location convenient to several dining options and walking trails. My one disappointment was that the Garden room we were in was not by a garden. The room looked out on a parking lot in the front and the wall of a building in the back. I’m not sure why they had chairs outside the room as sitting there would only have you staring at the front of your car. The adjacent lawn and garden area were lovely though.

It was a beautiful location and the room was lovely. We loved the balcony and the view was esquisite. I loved the staff. They were all very helpful. Two things that would have made it all even better. The heating/AC unit seemed to go on even after we turned it down and it was super loud. It would also have been nice if there was an additional mirror outside of the bathroom.

The room we stayed in was called the Garden Room, and we assumed it had a garden view as opposed to the ocean view rooms. Instead it was one of 4 Garden Rooms that were in a sad, separate building away from the bay and the lovely main building. Just out the front door was a parking lot, and our room was adjacent to a Thai restaurant. For the expensive price and 4.5 star Expedia luxury rating, we expected more. It was a real disappointment after viewing the beautiful photos online. When our neighbor shut his door, it reverberated loudly in our room. There was no air conditioning. The shower stall was tiny with no shelf to place your shower items. The nozzle does not adjust so depending on your height you may get sprayed in the face. On the positive side, it was clean, nicely furnished, with comfortable beds. Pretty potted plants were placed outside the door and back window, and you could walk to a lovely garden and lawn with a bay view near the main building. The price for the Garden Rooms needs to be much lower than the price for other rooms on the property. If the owners had been more transparent about the less than ideal location of the Garden Rooms we would not have felt duped. Also we selected pay on arrival but were charged in advance - not a big deal to us but irritating.

My reservation was not expected since although the room on ocean view was not available, expedia website showed it was available and I could reserve the room. So when I went to the hotel, I had to give up the ocean view room. My credit card was already charged for this booking (original reservation changes for the additional cost). I had to give a low rating due to several issues. While the property is beautiful with a great bay view, gardens, and dining options, my stay was disappointing. After returning late, I found my room without power, while the rest of the hotel had electricity. The issue wasn't resolved until 1:30 am, when we were given a space heater, extension cord, camping light, and extra blankets for freezing temperatures. We had to stay in our van for hours as no nearby hotels had vacancies. The room was also unclean, with stained sheets, lumpy pillows, and a refrigerator in the bathroom next to the toilet. Despite booking a more expensive room with a view, I was moved to a cheaper, “pet-friendly” room without a price adjustment, though the pet fee was waived. Additionally, expired coupons were given inlieu of the “breakfast included” and could not be honored by the coffee shop as they expired a few days before we even checked in. Staff were kind, but this hotel lacks proper protocols.

The staff was very friendly, able to start the check in process since we were early and allowed us access to the grounds before the room was ready for us. The room was very clean and comfortable, the garden was beautiful, and overall was one of the best stays. The fan in our bathroom started acting up and the response was almost immediate to get it fixed. If we come back to the area, we plan to stay here again. Thank you Back Bay Inn!

We had such a great time staying at this fantastic place. Our room was even better than the photos suggested and everyone who worked there was incredibly sweet. Los Osos is a gem. We will definitely be back for some well needed r & r.

We were looking for a quiet retreat and found it. Great location, beautiful grounds overlooking back bay and nature preserve and a friendly staff. Walking distance to several dining options, cycling distance to Moro bay and well located for all the central coast towns.

Great view of the bay from the room. Room was just the right size. Kruge in the room. Coffee shop on site for breakfast. Several smaller restaurants in the area and a small liquor store for odds and ends. Calm and quiet area. Parking not that great.

It is a wonderful place for vacation or just relaxing with its location beside the bayside. Walkable and not far away from beaches. The kitchen is fully equipped and spacious. It is a great small town with lots of restaurants around.

This is a gem on the Morro Bay! We stopped there on our way back to the Bay Area from San Diego. What a surprise! The grounds are absolutely beautiful, the staff very friendly and the room was spacious although we didn’t have a view but we were traveling with our dog and were very happy they accepted pets (for a fee). The bathroom could use an update tho. The new restaurant Mirazur recently opened on the grounds offers delicious options for a nice dinner. The vouchers at the Nautical Bean for breakfast were also a tasty surprise. We truly enjoyed walking along the bay after a long drive and the next day before leaving. We will definitely stop there again and would recommend this beautiful hotel.

check in was friendly, and there was a wine reception when we arrived, though it was really only a couple of open bottles of wine and some snacks in a room without a bay view. our room was clean, comfortable but nothing special. we got $7 vouchers at the semi-attached breakfast spot, good breakfast burritos and bear claws, though the staff was really only friendly one of the three days we were there; not rude, but the first morning person was definitely different than the next two. our kitchenette was okay; the fridge was pretty small and constantly had melted freezer water at the bottom; the freezer didn't fully freeze our ice packs; and there were only three forks and a couple of dishes. i think we wanted to like it more after the initial greeting and the grounds, but in the end it was only just "mostly okay". i wouldn't recommend against staying here, and we have a friend who lives nearby that we visit, and so we may start again. just want people reading this to know what you are getting for the price. it was worth what we paid, but not a "hidden gem" or anything.

Beautiful location and views! Staff were friendly but the room had ants and the paint was chipped and the screen was bent. The toilet ran all night and we had to shut it off. Furniture was old and outdated and no easily accessible plugs. For over 900 per 2 nights I would expect more.
