Cobblestone Inn & Suites - Hartington

Room was clean and orderly. This was a quick overnight stop on our way home from the Black Hills, SD back to Omaha. We arrived late due to mitigating circumstances and the time zone change but I called ahead of time and the lady who answered was friendly and understanding. I partook of the much needed mini fridge and ice machine to refresh the perishable food we had packed along for the trip. My son was exhausted and right after he brushed his teeth he collapsed in bed and slept great. The bathroom was clean and well stocked, the tub drain just had a bit of trouble staying up the water pooled up until I fiddled with it and got it to stay up. Bed was sufficiently firm with tons of pillows and I had a very restful sleep. Breakfast bar in the morning was pretty good, but I would have liked some fresher fruit and perhaps orange juice instead of apple juice. My son and I liked the Belgian waffles and of course I greatly appreciated the coffee bar.

The room was very clean. The TV wasn't working and they came right away to fix it!

Room was okay, but toilet wobbled badly and bathroom shower/tub drain was so slow that you showered in ankle deep water. Breakfast was ok but not well stocked. Apple juice was expired. There was 1 apple and brown bananas. I chose an English muffin that was not fresh at all. It was very hard. Ice machines were all “broken”.

Hair in the sink. Only went barefoot once as the floor had pebbles, etc and needed vacuuming. Reserved a 1st floor room but got 2nd floor. One couple had reserved a 1st floor room and cannot do stairs and were charged $20 extra because the room had a jacuzzi and was the only 1st floor room they could get. Also the ice machine was broken the whole time and they did not provide a way to get ice. They are located next to a Casey's! (They have an area with self serve items including frozen pizzas so they could have provided small bags of ice for people there or some other way provided ice.) When a friend went to check in the person was sitting in the lobby but didn't bother to get up and ask if she needed help for quite some time. (Why would you stand at the check in area if you were not there to check in or needed help or had a question?!) Also her shower leaked. Only had yogurt available the first of my 4 breakfasts. On Saturday they were out of bacon and I finally found someone to ask if there was more and he prepared some but they should monitor to see if more food is needed. This place has really gone downhill and they charge a lot more than they used to. Things were much better when Julie was the manager.
